D-Link DIR-615 is a popular router (router) model with a comfortable administration interface. Using this instruction, you can cope with the versatile configuration of the D-Link DIR-615 router for Rostelecom.

The D-Link DIR-615 Wi-Fi router is presented in different variations that differ in appearance and some additional firmware features. To connect a wireless router, pay attention to its rear panel. On it are located:

4 LAN ports for connecting various devices (PC, TV).
1 WAN port for connecting Rostelecom's Internet wire.
Power connector.
Factory reset button.

On the top cover of the router or on the front panel in some modifications there are indicators: on, Internet, Wi-Fi, ports in use.

To turn on the device, plug the power supply into the corresponding slot of the router and into a power outlet. The power indicator will light up. The WAN port for the Internet wire entering the apartment / house is highlighted in a different color and labeled as Internet - it is not needed yet. Connect a short double-sided cable (included) to any of the 4 LAN ports, and the other side to the network connector of your computer or laptop. The LAN activity indicator will light up.

How to enter the router settings and configure the Rostelecom PPPoE connection

To enter the router's admin panel, open your web browser and type the network address 192.168.0.1 into the address bar. There should be no dots at the end. A login window will open with an authorization form. By default, the username and password are the same - admin and admin. If the page does not load, try the addresses 192.168.0.2 and 192.168.1.1. After logging in, you will see the router interface and all the options for its configuration. Now connect the wire from Rostelecom to the Internet port.

Important: if you previously used the Internet on a PC directly, before connecting the router, turn off the Rostelecom connection on the computer, otherwise there may be errors in the configuration process.

To connect to the Internet via PPPoE:

At the bottom right, click on the "Advanced Settings" button.
In the "Network" section, select WAN.
If there is already an existing connection there, click on it and click "Delete" on the page that opens.
In the updated empty netlist, click on the "Add" button.

Fill in the lines like this:

connection type: PPPoE;
in the PPP section, enter the name and password issued by the ISP.

We do not change the rest of the items, click "Save". And once again save the changes by clicking on the notification that appears at the top right. Most likely, the PPPoE connection status will look like "Disconnected". Refresh the page, and if you followed the steps correctly, then everything will be fixed. The fact that the Internet is working will be reported by a glowing indicator in the form of a globe.

Changing the administrator password

To ensure security, change the default login information. To do this, in the advanced settings, go to the "System" - "Administrator password" section. Enter a new password, confirm and save the changes twice - at the bottom of the window and in the notification area at the top.

How to set a password for Wi-Fi on D-Link DIR-615

To turn on Wi-Fi, while in the advanced settings of the router, simply move the slider to the on position on the tile of the same name. In the “Basic Settings” item of this section, you can change the name of the wireless network in the SSID line. In the "Security Settings" item, the line "PSK Encryption Key" is responsible for the Wi-Fi password. Be sure to install it - at least 8 characters, you can use numbers, letters, special characters, spaces and punctuation marks. Don't forget to save your changes.

Setting a password for Wi-Fi, setting up IPTV and Smart TV

When the Wi-Fi password is set, connect devices to the router. To connect a TV with Smart TV capabilities, just connect its network connector to one of the router's LAN ports. To connect a digital set-top box to the router to watch channels via IPTV, on the main page of the router settings (without going to advanced) there is a section "IP-television". Open the setup wizard and follow the instructions. It is enough to specify the LAN port in the settings and connect the set-top box to it.

Dynamic and static IP

IP is the network address of your router on the Internet. It can be static and dynamic. In most cases, the second option is used. A static IP address is an additional service that not everyone needs. If you ordered a static address from the provider, then he will give you all the data necessary to create this type of connection: netmask, gateway address and DNS. All this is prescribed when creating a new connection, but now you need to choose not PPPoE, but "Static IP".

Firmware DIR-615 K1 and K2

There are two options for the DIR-615 router for Rostelecom - K1 and K2, with different firmware for each. It is easy to distinguish them by the settings interface. Install the latest firmware version - this is important for the security and stable operation of the device.

For K1: "Set up manually" - "System" - "Software update" - "Overview" - select the previously downloaded firmware file - "Update".

For K2: "Advanced settings" - "System" - right arrow - "Software update" - after that, the same.

Wait for the update to finish. Do not take any action until the corresponding message appears, even if it seemed to you that the router was hanging.

Important: download firmware only from the official site.

Reset

If you bought a router from your hands or have already made several unsuccessful attempts to get it to work properly with your Internet connection, you need to reset the device to factory settings. There are 2 ways:

In the control panel, go to the "System" tab and select "Factory settings". Follow the instructions.
On the back of the router connected to the network, find the Reset button (looks like an indentation). Hold it with something thin for 5-10 seconds and, releasing, wait until the router automatically reboots, as indicated by the indicators.

Possible problems when setting up a Wi-Fi router

If the settings page does not open, try a different browser or computer.

If the settings are not saved, update the router firmware to the latest version.

Today we will talk about setting up IPTV on the Dlink DIR-615 router. In fact, multicast is configured quite easily (by ticking the right place), but I ran into the following problem. I have an ADSL modem on which two bridge connections VPI / VCI 1/32 for the Internet and VPI / VCI 1/33 for IPTV are raised, and the connection is raised by a WiFi router. But in such a bundle and with such settings, he does not want to show IPTV, although by connecting directly to the modem there are no problems with watching IPTV. Setting the WiFi router Dlink DIR 615 to bridge mode, and the modem router solves the problem (there is Internet and iptv shows). But there is another problem....

So in more detail. As I said, setting the router to bridge mode, and the modem to the router - there is both the Internet and iptv. But, when the Dlink DIR-615 code is configured in bridge mode, the DHCP server is automatically turned off, and via WiFi I need ip addresses to be assigned dynamically.
What I've done? Yes, everything turned out to be easy.

I set the modem to router mode.
I left the local IP address of the modem by default 192.168.1.1

Here we configure our router in router mode, only we choose the type of connection with the provider not PPPoE, but Static IP

In the “IP Address” field we write ip 192.168.1.2, in the “Subnet Mask” field we write 255.255.255.0, in the “Default Gateway” field we write the ip address of our modem 192.168.1.1, in the “Primary DNS Server” field we write 192.168.1.1, in the “Secondary DNS Server” field, enter any DNS that you know (in case the telecom DNS stops working). We save the settings.

At this point, the setup for our Dlink DIR-615 router is almost complete, it remains only to allow multicast to pass through.

Go to the “ADVANCED” menu and select the “ADVANCED NETWORK” submenu. And here in the “Multicast Streams” area, check the box next to “Enable Multicast Streams”. We save the settings.

Everything on this setup is completed. And we have the Internet, and IPTV works (and over WiFi too), and a DHCP server works.
This router holds IPTV very well, since the hardware is quite powerful. My iptv worked for a little more than three hours (then I just turned it off), while one computer worked via LAN and the other via WiFi. The loss of IPTV was not noticed.

Connect power to the router and turn it on. If the indicators on the front panel of the router do not light up, then check if the power is turned on with the button on the rear panel. If you will configure the router via cable, then take the network cable that comes with the kit, connect the router to the computer. One end of the cable is connected to black LAN connector (in 1 of 4), and connect the other end to the network card of the computer (laptop). Connect the cable from the Internet provider to yellow WAN connector.

If you do not have a computer with a network card, or there is no cable, then you can configure everything via Wi-Fi. You can even use your phone or tablet.

You can also change the administrator password, which is used to access the router settings. If you did not change it, or changed it, but have already forgotten, then you can do this on the tab System - Administrator password.

Enter your new password twice and click Apply. Don't forget to save your settings.

Be sure to write down this password somewhere. If you forget it, you will not be able to enter the control panel, and you will have to do a factory reset.

Any router of modern assembly works on IPTV technology. What is it for and how does it function? Thanks to the work of the Internet and special equipment, this technology allows you to display channels on a TV. To connect the set-top box and router to the screen, a special port on the device and a twisted pair are used. It is necessary to correctly configure IPTV on D-Link 615 DIR.

Setting up Wi-Fi on the router

1. Go to the tab WiFi, select the item " basic settings» and set the desired wireless access point name SSID. The remaining parameters are left as is (see picture). After that, press " Apply».

2. WiFi, select the item " Security Settings". Select Authorization type(recommended WPA2/PSK) and then to the PSK Encryption Key enter any password of at least 8 characters - this will help protect your wireless network from unauthorized access. Save your changes. WPA encryption - AES. After that click Apply.

That's all: now you can try to use the Internet via a wireless Wi-Fi connection from a laptop, tablet or any other equipment.

Setting up IP TV

Option 1. Select a port for the set-top box without specifying the VLAN ID

Thus, digital television is set up for Beeline, Dom.Ru, TTK and some branches of Rostelecom. This method is the simplest. Select a section from the menu Start - IPTV Setup Wizard. In the window that opens, click on the port to which the TV set-top box will be connected - it will be marked in green. As a rule, the 4th LAN port is used for this. Click on the button " Save". Now you can connect the set-top box to the 4th LAN port.

Option 2: Explicit VLAN ID

This method is used when multicast traffic is delivered to a subscriber device in a separate virtual network and is divided directly at the terminal equipment. According to this principle, the service is organized in many branches of Rostelecom, Tattelecom. In this case, to configure the port, you need to go to the section Additionally - VLAN. Here we click on the group LAN” and wait until its parameters open.

Once in the group settings, select the port in which the set-top box will be turned on and uncheck it (in our example, we unchecked 3 LAN ports). We click on the button Save and we go back to the section VLAN.

Now you need to click on the button Add". This will create a new group.

In the "Name" field, write the name of the group - IPTV, for example.
Check the "Allow" checkbox.
In the "Type" list, select "Transparent".
In the Vlan ID field, you must specify the identifier of the virtual network. My house uses 1601. Keep in mind that identifiers are used differently on each optical ring and you can only find out which one is used on your home switch in the provider's technical support.
We put a daw "Multicast".
The rest is left by default.
Note only the moment that in the "Untagged ports" list, the port that you removed from the "LAN" group should be checked.

Port Forwarding/Forwarding

We go to Firewall - Virtual servers. We press the button Add.

Name- enter any name.
Interface- choose the interface that is responsible for connecting to the Internet. In our case, this is the pppoe interface.
Protocol- choose the protocol you need.

Internal IP- IP address of the device to which requests will be sent

Go to Status - Network statistics. In the plate, the Internet connection you created should be green and all columns in this row should be filled.

Saving/restoring router settings

Choose to save the current configuration, To save the current settings of the router The settings file will be saved to the specified location on the hard drive.
To restore settings from a file, you must click and select Loading a previously saved configuration to the device, specify the path to the file with settings, then click the button.
