Reproduction

We offer young animals at the age of 2 - 4 months, as well as adult couples, ready to organize mini-farms. One young family of chinchillas is capable of producing up to 3 litters and up to 15 puppies per year. The cost of a two-month-old animal (the most suitable age for weaning from its mother) varies from 2,500 to 50,000 rubles, depending on gender and color. The female chinchilla, as she gets older, brings more puppies in 1 litter. A mother under the age of 1.5 years gives birth to 1-3 cubs in a litter, from 1.5 to 6 years old, 2-5 puppies are born.

Chinchillas perfectly feed on budget food, which you can always buy in any quantity on our farm. To ensure the longevity and health of your pet, you need to follow a few simple rules of care. Chinchillas have the most delicate and beautiful fur. Its value is determined by a fairly strong skin, a very thick hairline, lightness, elasticity and unusual thermal insulation properties.

Selection is made at the age of 5-6 months; we separate animals for further breeding or for fur. The animals intended for slaughter receive fur maturity and the desired size at the age of 8-12 months. During this period, chinchillas need to be bathed more often (even daily) in clean sand, and in the seventh month, combed with a special comb to remove dead hair and the likely matted fur. Big, grown chinchillas with smooth shiny fur are slaughtered.

By blowing through the cover, the maturity of the fur can be checked.

The slaughter of chinchilla is carried out by electric current, the skins are removed in a layer. The most common mistakes when picking up:

  • leaving the flesh,
  • poor degreasing of the skin,
  • improper skin formation,
  • prelins,
  • breaks in the skin and prelate.

We store raw and dried skins at a temperature of 10-16 ° C. Not later than in a month we send them for dressing. Our skins are lightweight, flexible along the entire length, very well defatted, shiny and fluffy.

More details about slaughtering and skinning can be found in the DVD movie, which can be bought at the RABA farm.

Purchase of chinchillas, raw and dressed skins

We buy chinchillas for cash in order to get fur at the age of 6-8 months. The money is paid on the sale. The same rules apply when purchasing raw hides. Since 1995 we have been purchasing tanned skins for Canchilla Ass. LTD William and Brent Paulie from Canada. The company is one of the world's largest chinchilla pelts businesses.

With the personal participation of Brent Paulie, we organize purchases in January, March and October. In order to prepare the skins well for sale, we bought out the skin processing technology. Our tannery has very good recommendations from many reputable brokers, furriers and fur breeders who have been using our services for many years.

What the breeder should do to dress and sell skins with us:

  • provide raw or dressed hides,
  • mark the skins with seals (can be ordered by phone),
  • fill out the act of acceptance of skins for dressing. It is a document for settlement after the sale (can be downloaded in the "Downloads" section and on this page).

If the breeder has not purchased seals in advance or does not have an acceptance certificate, these steps can be performed on the farm.

Each hide is individually assessed by Brent Paulie. After the sale, the breeder receives an invoice with detailed information on the quantity and price of the skins. The amount for the sale is transferred to the account of the breeder.

Crafted skins or live animals can only be sold by breeders cooperating with the Raba chinchilla farm.

How much are chinchilla skins

Chinchilla lives in the South American Andes mountains at an altitude of several thousand meters. A cold and dry climate reigns here, there is little vegetation to feed even such a small animal as a chinchilla. The only protection from the piercing wind and cold is the skin, which has a very special structure of the fur.

As a rule, in a fur-bearing animal, the skin is covered with hair follicles from which one guard hair grows. In a chinchilla, up to 80 hairs grow from one bulb, and about 30 thousand hairs can be in one square centimeter. They form a very dense, thick layer of down, through which even the most severe frost will not penetrate. That is why the cost of a chinchilla fur coat is very high - the price of a coat of 300 skins can go up to 250 thousand dollars, this is one of the most prestigious furs in the world.

I must say that the chinchilla has become valuable quite recently, but in the 19th century it lost to the ermine, beaver, marten and sable. In the twentieth century, chinchilla fur became wildly popular, it came to the point that the threat of complete destruction hung over these beautiful animals. The animal is listed in the Red Book, and the Andes are carefully guarded from poachers.

Varieties of chinchillas:

  • short-tailed
  • long-tailed

For the production of furs, fur farms have been established, where these small rodents are raised for sale. Of course, it is not easy to organize suitable living conditions for them, because chinchillas live in high-mountainous regions with thin air. Under normal conditions, rodents stop seeing, there is an imbalance in metabolism, and the animal may even die.

The color of the chinchilla can be different: from gray to bluish and snow-white. Even a voluminous fur coat will be light, because chinchilla skins are truly airy. They are often bred as pets, their friendly disposition and unpretentiousness in food do not create any problems for the owners. They eat grass, cereals, legumes, bark, seeds, insects, etc. However, you cannot stroke a chinchilla with unwashed hands - the delicate fur immediately falls off and sticks together, the animal may die. The animals do not have sweat and sebaceous glands; to clean the fur of a chinchilla, volcanic ash and the finest quarry sand are needed.

Hello.

Shinshi are beautiful rodents. And the fur of chinchillas has no analogues, and it is not possible to confuse it with anything!

I myself am engaged in breeding chinchiks.

Now I am saving up skins for sewing fur coats for my wife.

The price for cutting and sewing a fur coat in an atelier costs 15-30 thousand rubles.

So in any case it will be cheaper to sew it.

By the way, in the largest markets for valuable furs, chin skins range from $ 50 to about $ 130 apiece. The price depends on the quality and color of the fur.

So ladies, you will be unique in the Chinchilla fur coat.

If you knew the habitat of chinchillas, you would not say that this is the fur of defenseless animals. Chinchillas in nature are not so easy to catch.

And at the moment, the fur of these wonderful animals is obtained more humanely than 2 centuries ago.

Many farms have been created in Russia and its outside, engaged in breeding chinchillas.

Business benefits

The advantages of these animals are that they are 2 3 times smaller than rabbits in size, they are herbivorous they eat everything the same as rabbits, but much smaller: vegetables, grain, herbs, hay, leaves, branches, seeds, etc. Chinchillas do not have seasonal molting, and unlike other animals, they are odorless.

Chinchillas do not need any vaccinations as they are all raised in captivity. They reach sexual maturity as early as 6-7 months. Moreover, their main advantage is simple maintenance and breeding.

They usually say about chinchillas: You feed like a rabbit and sell like a sable.

WE OFFER YOUR ATTENTION, NEW BUSINESS OFFER

Chinchillas have the most valuable fur of all animals: products from chinchilla fur cost from 10 to 100 thousand dollars.

The constant demand for chinchilla skins at fur auctions has necessitated the creation of an entire affiliate program.

The terms of the partnership program are extremely simple - you buy our breeding animals, breed and sell the young born to us. Thus, our breeding animals maintain a constant genetically correct fertility structure, specially developed by our employees, and increase sales. In turn, you get a stable income and guaranteed sales.

The technology for growing chinchillas is so simple and affordable that they can be successfully grown both in a small household and in a one-room apartment. Only on two square meters, with only 20 females, you will constantly receive up to 100 cubs from them. Usually, one pair produces offspring within 10 years.

Breeding chinchillas is a real production of a product that has a guaranteed sale on the market. Chinchilla skins can be sold in unlimited quantities at a fur auction in St. Petersburg or Copenhagen. The sale can be carried out both through Us and independently. The skins can also be sent by regular mail. The average price of a skin at the CPA auction for the last 2 years is $ 45-65. We accept young animals at a price of $ 60-100 per puppy.

You've probably seen or heard on television and radio that chinchilla fur coats cost from $ 10 to $ 100 thousand!

Chinchillas have been bred in captivity for about 80 years, and the demand for the animals themselves and their fur is still very high around the world. There are no chinchillas in the CIS countries, which means that the sales market is simply huge!

We guarantee you 100% sale of skins and young chinchillas. Only with Us you can conclude a contract for a period of 5 to 15 years. We, in turn, undertake to buy from you 2-6 month old chinchilla cubs.

You will learn how you can buy pedigree young animals from us for breeding, prices for cages, feed, vitamins; in detail how to contain, breed, etc.

Whether to get chinchillas just for fun or seriously engage in their breeding, everyone decides for himself. But in any case, the pleasure of communicating with these cute animals will be guaranteed to you.

Infantrymen Livesey and Zharsi collected the dead pirates and carried them into one of the empty locks. Livesey and Jarsi were too busy designing the operation and preparing the equipment. They were greatly assisted by the former captain's mate Viard Shartin. This one is small.

Serious, scientific article:

Even if you do not deal with the sale of chinchilla fur, you can earn a lot of money from breeding and selling live chinchillas.

We read, for example, an excerpt from the article:

The era of industrial production began in the early 1980s. The chinchilla industry has reached a new level. More and more entrepreneurs are choosing chinchilla breeding as a profitable production. Chinchilla skins price. Quality control

Not many can afford to buy chinchilla fur, as it is in the top three most expensive. Small or long-tailed chinchillas are bred for furs. They have a bluish cover with a gray coating, which is soft, thick and fluffy. In large or short-tailed chinchillas, the quality of the fur is inferior.

The fur fabric is silky and soft to the touch. The color is rich gray on the back, smoothly turns into blue with a gray bloom on the sides, the belly is white. In general, each hair has three color zones. From the very bottom to half gray, then white goes by three millimeters, and the tips are dark. This is a standard color. To evaluate such animals, there are grading tables, according to which five points are given to an animal with a graphite-black color, with the same veil on the back, sides and rump. The line separating the white belly should be clear, and the belly itself should be snow-white. Five points are also given with a very high color purity, the absence of any shades and a snow-white abdomen.

If the color is dark, and the veil is graphite, the scruff, sides and hind legs are lighter, then this is considered a defect. Such a skin is estimated at four points. The same amount is given for good color purity without shades, but with a vague pattern.

Three points are awarded for the graphite veil, which is darker on the back, and lighter and more uniform on the sides, nape and hind legs. The appearance of brown, brown and yellow shades and an indistinct pattern is also estimated at three points.

A score of two is given to medium color with a veil that is more dark on the back, and lighter and more uneven on the sides, nape and hind legs. However, the border between the veil and the abdomen is quite clear. Two points are given for a significantly brown shade and a cloudy color. For such chinchilla skins, the price is relatively low.

Chinchilla skin

The chinchilla is a medium sized rodent known for its extraordinarily beautiful, thick fur. At the beginning of the twentieth century, a chinchilla coat was a sign of belonging to the upper class, a rare beauty did not dream of such a rich gift. Since the animal itself is small, it could take up to 200 skins to make a long fur coat. Alas, only wealthy people could afford such a luxury.

Dressing chinchilla skins requires special skills, knowledge and high professionalism. The whole process of dressing is exclusively manual work, they do not lend themselves to mechanization.

High quality - dressed chinchilla skins are light as eiderdown and just as warm. They must be stored very carefully, in cardboard boxes, shifting each one with special paper.

The article provides detailed step-by-step instructions on how to open a small mini-farm for breeding chinchillas. Also, current information is given on the sale of chinchilla products, the choice of breeding animals and the necessary equipment.

The chinchilla business primarily implies the production of highly valuable and unique fur, which is many times more expensive than the well-known furs of mink, arctic fox, sable and rabbit.

Due to the fact that chinchilla breeding as an industry has just begun to develop in the CIS countries and Russia, the demand for high-quality breeding material is many times greater than the supply. And high demand and lack of offers is the key to the success of any business.

What is the relevance of a business idea for breeding chinchillas?

  • Complete lack of competitionand these are not empty words. It is a known fact that 90% of all fur ateliers and large stores sell imported chinchilla fur products.
  • Broad market prospects, because every fur salon respecting its image simply cannot imagine the absence of chinchilla fur coats on the store shelves.
  • Extremely high production profitability, expressed in the low cost of production and receiving super profits from its sale. For example, several tens of rubles are spent on growing one male chinchilla, and the final cost of such animals at 2 months of age varies from 3 to 15 thousand rubles.
  • Chinchilla business absolutely anyone can do it... After all, this does not require either expensive equipment, or special education, or large capital investments. All you need is a small room, cell batteries and good breeding stock.

Where to begin?

Let's start with the organizational and legal forms of doing business, or, more precisely, with their complete absence at the initial, two-year stage of development. The fact is that the model of doing business on chinchillas proposed below implies a gradual increase in the production of both fur and the pedigree young animals sold. The goal of this approach is to minimize investment and all kinds of risks, as well as gain practical experience in chinchilla breeding.

That is, the owner of the mini-farm it is not necessary to register as an individual entrepreneur or a peasant farm... It is enough to formalize this type of activity as a private household plots (personal subsidiary plots). And, as you know, regardless of the volume of production, private household plots are not taxed at all. With only one amendment: the owner of a private household is not such if he owns or leases more than 2 hectares of agricultural land.

When the chinchilla farm reaches or approaches a given level of production, its owner needs to:

  • The first is to register your business as an individual entrepreneur. This is the easiest and easiest way to legitimize business activities, which in the future will allow you to avoid all kinds of paperwork when selling raw fur.
  • The second is to choose a special tax regime - Unified Agricultural Tax. An enterprise on a single agricultural tax has a number of tax benefits: refusal to pay income tax, property tax and VAT. The tax rate is only 6% and is calculated according to the formula: income - expenses * 6%. If in the previous period of time (10 years), some years were unprofitable, then data from these periods can be entered into the current calculation of the tax base. As a result, the final tax amount is significantly reduced or will be zero at all.

OKVED code for chinchilla farm - 01.25.2. It means the breeding of any fur-bearing animals in a farm.

IMPORTANT: Additional permits and licenses are not required to breed chinchillas and sell products.

The Moneymaker Factory recommends keeping tax records through the online accounting department "Moe Delo", this will save money, since it can be used to keep records on your own without accepting a full-time accountant.

Organization of production

Required equipment

To complete a chinchilla farm and reach its full capacity, you need the following equipment:

Name of equipment

Appointment of equipment

Price in rub. for 1 piece

Required number of pcs.

Total cost in rubles

Rational feeding

Rational drinking

Maintaining exercise

Heating mini-farm

Mini farm cooling

Total: 290,920 rubles.

The chinchilla farm is illuminated with conventional incandescent lamps: 1 60W lamp per 10m² of floor. It is better to use electric heating in winter, since electrical appliances are capable of lowering the humidity level. In addition to heating, the room for chinchillas, in the warm season, also needs to be cooled. Conventional household air conditioners are great for this purpose.

Cells

Chinchilla is an animal whose value is determined by the quality of the fur. Accordingly, high requirements are imposed on the cells where the animals are kept:

  • The first is the planting area, which should not be lower than 0.3m² per individual.
  • The second is a feed and water supply system based on bunker feeders and automatic drinkers.
  • Third - the obligatory presence of a sand bath in each cage to keep the chinchilla fur clean.
  • Fourth, the height of the cells is strictly consistent. Otherwise, the animals may be injured.

As a result, six rows of cages, three rows on each side, can be placed in one 18m² brood block, forming two common cell batteries.

The floor and walls of the cage are made of an ordinary galvanized mesh with a cross section of 1.5x2cm. In the front part of the wall, feeders and drinkers are installed, as well as a door for easy access to the cage. A small metal shelf is mounted to the back of the wall at a height of 20-25 cm, a width of 10-15 cm, where chinchillas spend most of their time.

For the period when the female puppies, a nesting wooden box is placed in the cage. To maintain sanitation at the proper level, a pallet is installed under each cage, filling it with sawdust and cleaning it at least once a week. The height of the cage should not be more than 40-45 cm.

Note.It is inadmissible to use any elements of the cage made of wood. After all, chinchillas belong to the mouse family and in a matter of days they are able to gnaw any wooden structures.

Selection and preparation of premises

Despite the fact that chinchillas in their natural habitat are able to survive and reproduce at an external air temperature of + -40 ° C, the room for their keeping must meet strict standards:

  • The air temperature is within 18-20 ° C of heat.
  • Relative air humidity - 55-60%.
  • No drafts and no air temperature rise above the designated limits.
  • Direct sunlight is undesirable.
  • To comply with sanitary standards and to avoid stressful situations, the farm premises should be located separately from other buildings.

There are no other, special requirements for the premises for chinchillas. From which it follows that any structure can be equipped for a chinchilla farm, the main thing is that it has appropriate thermal insulation. An entrepreneur does not require significant investments to build a new premises. For example, a block for 100 chinchilla breeding stock occupies an area of \u200b\u200bonly 18 m2, and can be built from any wall materials: brick, blocks, wood, composite building materials.

Purchase and selection of pedigree young stock

High-quality pedigree chinchillas are a key factor in successful chinchilla breeding. Such animals, especially males, are expensive, but they invariably pay for themselves, as they retain their reproductive functions for 15-18 years.

To understand how important it is to acquire good breeding material, let's look back in history. In 1954, the first chinchilla fur auction was held in New York, which shocked key players in the industry. More than half of the skins were not in demand due to poor quality and non-standard fur color. As a result, the market collapsed, prices fell sharply, and in Canada alone, about 4.5 thousand farms declared themselves bankrupt. But at that time, only one pair of chinchillas cost fabulous money, from 3 to 5 thousand dollars.

It is impossible to describe all the characteristics of the choice of thoroughbred animals in this article. Firstly, there are about 12 mutations of the standard color of chinchillas alone. Plus, 10 combinative forms are added to them. But the best and most popular of them is considered to be the standard color and the so-called "black velveteen".

In order not to be mistaken with the choice of chinchillas for the tribe, it is better to contact breeders who contain at least 500-600 individuals of the broodstock. It is in such farms that systematic work is being carried out to improve the gene pool of animals.

Feeding and breeding chinchillas

However, in feeding chinchillas, some nuances must be taken into account:

  • Due to the lack of direct sunlight, chinchillas are susceptible to vitamin deficiency and suffer from a lack of vitamins of group D. Therefore, animals should be given dried fruits, vegetables, dried herbs, vitamin hay, fish and meat and bone meal.
  • In order to avoid contamination of the fur, all roughage: branches, brooms and hay, are given in strictly limited quantities, placing them in bunker feeders.
  • Since chinchillas have front incisors growing all the time, small blocks of trees that do not contain tannins in the wood are placed in the cages to grind them down.
  • In chinchilla breeding, there are no clear norms for giving feed, because the weight of different types of adult chinchillas ranges from 300 to 800 grams. Therefore, feeding rates are calculated based on the live weight of a particular age group of animals.

Chinchillas as a business are not at all susceptible to the crisis of overproduction, for at least another 40-50 years, and all because of the peculiarities of reproduction. The fact is that a female chinchilla is capable of producing no more than 3 litters per year, 1-4 puppies in each. Sexual maturity of the male and female occurs at the age of 3-5 months, but it is better not to let them mate until 10 months of age.

In the cells of adult chinchillas-producers are kept both in pairs (monogamous) and in small families (polygamous). Monogamous content justifies itself when serious breeding is being done. That is, each pair of chinchillas living separately in the cage has high breed and productive qualities, giving no less valuable offspring. In other cases, they practice polygamous keeping of chinchillas, where there is one highly productive male for 4-5 females.

Note.In the case of aggressive behavior of the female towards the male during pregnancy or whelping, it is better to plant the latter in another cage or put a mesh partition between them.

Organization and development of a chinchilla mini-farm

Business ideas with small investments, such as chinchilla breeding, require unhurried and systematic development. Therefore, it is better to start with a small uterine block for 108 chinchilla places. For this purpose, a standard room measuring 3X6m is perfect, in which two three-tier rows of cage batteries are installed. In the future, one battery will house the broodstock - 40 females and 10 males, the other battery - young animals raised for skin or sold live.

In order to initially save yourself from all kinds of risks, which include the purchase of an illiquid breeding herd, mass deaths of animals, etc., it is better to purchase only 12 animals - 10 females and 2 males. It is this population of chinchillas that is quite enough to form a breeding nucleus and bring it to 50 individuals.

If we take one calendar year into account, then 10 females and 2 males can produce up to 70-80 young individuals, half of which will be females. Thus, by the end of the second year of operation of the mini-farm, by the end of the second year of operation of the mini-farm, by means of breeding selection and culling, it is possible without any special problems, and most importantly without high costs, to bring the breeding stock to 50 chinchillas.

At the same time, an entrepreneur who has been increasing the number of chinchillas all this time will not be left behind. The fact is that now the situation in domestic chinchilla breeding is very similar to the situation in the United States and Canada for the period of the 20-50s of the last century. When the market for live chinchillas prevailed many times over the market for fur raw materials. And by increasing the breeding stock for all these two years, you can sell up to 100 individuals "Culling", recouping not only all costs, but also making excellent money on it.

As a result, when such a mini-farm reaches its full production capacity, its owner will receive up to 300 of young chinchilla heads per year. But what to do with them, read on.

Sales of finished products

As mentioned above, the chinchilla breeding market is more biased towards the sale of live goods than furs and fur products. Therefore, here the sale of products can be divided into several areas:

  1. Implementation of culled animals... This method is suitable for any chinchilla farms, regardless of the volume of production. Since in the course of breeding work, “culling” is a common occurrence. The main customers are pet shops, bird markets or exotic animal lovers. However, the word "rejection" should not be understood as sick and weak chinchillas. Culls are those animals that, for various reasons, unsuitable for breeding or obtaining quality fur.
  2. Realization of breeding animals... Tribal chinchillas are an order of magnitude more expensive than culled ones, and here two areas of production are divided: either the owner of the farm sells surplus breeding material, or purposefully grows pedigree chinchillas for subsequent sale. The main clients are novice chinchilla breeders or farms experiencing an acute shortage of breeding material.
  3. Fur sales... You can reach this level with a mini-farm productivity of at least 300-350 male chinchillas per year. Since the production of fur products from chinchilla is mainly male skins, female skins are also used, but this is already a secondary and cheaper raw material. The main clients are large fur ateliers in million-plus cities.
  4. Sale of fur at large auctions... The fact is that large fur auctions are still in dire need of chinchilla fur. For example, for the period 2010-2012, the demand for chinchilla fur at the Copenhagen auction was 500 thousand skins, while the auction could only offer 300 thousand skins. But to reach this level, it is required to produce at least 5 thousand skins per year of the highest quality.
