An excerpt from Olga Kruchinina's video interview about Chernomor's costume:

“The kingdom of Chernomor also had to be invented, both the images of Chernomor himself and his entourage, so that it would not be banal, not the same as often drawn in illustrations. It was necessary to find something completely opposite to the Russian style of Prince Vladimir. I searched for a very long time, I could not think of the general picture of his world. I stumbled upon a book on Peruvian ceramics by chance. This art is very far from Russia, ceramics is absolutely amazing. When I saw her alive in the Museum of Oriental Cultures, she seemed to me so that I, perhaps, would not pay attention to her. And in the book, these were enlarged reproductions, wonderful ornamentation, scary, drawn figures as if space aliens, amazing headdresses. And there were even drawings that I later used in the clothes of Chernomor's servants. In part, I used details of Indonesian clothing: pointed shoulder forms, some details of clothing that remained from antiquity, the peoples of the Volga region, the Chuvash, including hats.

To remember childhood or just plunge into the atmosphere of miracles and magic invites the new exhibition "Visiting a Fairy Tale", which opened in the Youth Center of the regional library. The exhibition includes felt toys by Irina Sorokina, a collection of postcards by Elena Arkhangelskaya and children's books.

It's no secret that on the eve of New Year's holidays, everyone wants a little miracles and magic. And where to get them, if not from a fairy tale? It was she who became the central image of the exhibition, which consists of several sections.

The Finger Theater invites visitors to recall the most famous Russian folk tales - "Ryaba Chicken", "Turnip", "Kolobka", "Teremok". “I sewed these heroes especially for my little son,” admits Irina Sorokina... “He is the main connoisseur of my creativity, and every new toy will definitely get his approval.

In the second section, you can see literary heroes, including
you will easily recognize the Nutcracker, the Little Mermaid, the Little Prince, beloved by many and easily recognizable characters of Soviet cartoons, for example, the Hedgehog and the Bear Cub, as well as the idols of modern preschoolers - the truck Levu, three funny cats - Caramel, Cookie and Kompot. In total, the exhibition features more than 50 toys, sewn by Irina Sorokina from Korean felt according to patterns of modern Russian and foreign craftswomen.

The postcards presented at the exhibition are collected Elena Arkhangelskaya... Elena had a love for postcards as a child, one of her first memories was a huge brown suitcase under her grandmother's bed, which was full of old postcards.

“It was a real happiness for my brother and me to sort through these amazing bright fairy cards,” Elena recalls. “Then the suitcase disappeared, and only a hundredth part of that wealth remained, but that feeling of happiness remained.” Many years later, Elena realized that she wanted to return a piece of her childhood - to enjoy the postcards in her mailbox. Postcrossing helped her with this. Elena found a site of like-minded people and began to receive new cards almost every day. At first they flew from all over Russia, and then from other countries - China, Japan, France, Germany, Finland, India. For several years of exchange, more than 1000 postcards have accumulated. “It's an amazing feeling when you read the words on postcards from a person from the other end of the country. I even made friends with some of the correspondents, - Elena admits. "We even exchanged not only postcards, but also gave small gifts to each other for the holidays."

We invite children and adults to see handmade toys, beautiful art postcards, and read books. We are sure that every child will find their favorite fairy tale at the exhibition! And adult visitors will plunge into pleasant memories from childhood and smile kindly!
