TSP-15k oil is a popular transmission fluid actively used for transport. Its production history has been known since Soviet times, and quality criteria, rating, recognition and prevalence have not decreased to this day. Its production began at the Kama Automobile Plant with a purposeful purpose to increase the operation of the transmission units of "KamAZ", however, today this grease is produced by different manufacturers, and the scope of its use has become much wider. In this article, we will study the composition and, its purpose and possible areas of application, we will talk about the most famous manufacturers of the product, analogues of foreign-made goods.

Transmission oil TSP-15 is made from sulfur-containing petroleum product.

Oil composition

TSP-15 gear oil is classified as a mineral lubricant product. The production process is based on refining, separating and processing oil with a huge capacity of sulfur-containing ingredients. As a result of processing, a lubricant is obtained on the basis of residual substances with distillate impurities. The main active ingredient of the oil is sulfur, which increases the antifriction characteristics of the product, which significantly affects its ability to counteract the negative effects of the friction process that is characteristic of transmission parts. In addition, component additives are added to the oil to improve product quality, increase anti-corrosion and anti-foam properties.

Specifications

Transmission oil TSP is manufactured in accordance with GOST 23652–79, according to SAE it is marked 80W-90, is classified as a TM-3 product and is identified by the code TM-3–18. The grease has the following basic technological characteristics:

  1. According to the production technology, at an operating temperature of one hundred degrees Celsius, it is fifteen units, while the variable viscosity of TSP-15k oil at a temperature of minus twenty degrees should fluctuate up to seventy-five points.
  2. The density of TSP-15k oil does not exceed nine hundred and ten units.
  3. The operating temperature range varies from twenty degrees with a minus to one hundred and thirty with a plus. In this case, the lubricant solidifies at a temperature not higher than twenty degrees of frost, and the temperature criteria for ignition is not less than two hundred and forty degrees.
  4. The scuffing factor, according to production standards, is at least five hundred and forty units, the tendency to foaming does not exceed three hundred in working order.
  5. The mass fraction of water should not be determined, only traces of it in the composition are possible, and mechanical impurities according to the standard do not exceed a hundredth of a percent.

TSP-15k, according to technical criteria, can be attributed to multipurpose lubricants, it is allowed to be used on vehicles at any time of the year. The service life of the oil ranges from thirty-six to seventy-two thousand kilometers, depending on external and internal factors.

Application area

Initially, the scope of application of TSP oil was limited to cargo KamAZ trucks, while it was recommended for use both in the main gear and for filling into transmission units. Today, the sector of application of TSP-15k grease is much broader. TSP oil can be used in freight transport of any type with gears of spiral-conical and cylindrical modifications. It is actively used for lubrication of units and aggregates of agricultural machinery, construction machines and tractors. The use of grease is recommended for all types of transport, the technical documentation for which provides for the filling of a liquid of class TM-3.

What's in the name?

TSP-15 oil belongs to the category of oils with the TM-3 identifier. What does its name mean? Based on the technical documentation, the TSP-15k marking is interpreted as follows:

  1. The letter "T" is an abbreviation for the word "transmission".
  2. Symbol "C" indicates the manufacture of goods from sulfur-containing oil products.
  3. The letter "P" states the presence of additives in the products, which ensure the wear resistance of the treated structures and guarantee the quality of the oil.
  4. The number 15 indicates the viscosity index of the grease.
  5. The symbol "k" stands for vector standardization of products, or, more precisely, the sector purpose of oil for technical units of "KamAZ".

Earlier, when there was one plant producing oil in this category, it was simply called TSP-15k. Today, several large manufacturers of lubricants and a lot of small firms are engaged in its manufacture. To distinguish their oil from similar products, large factories often prescribe the name of the company before labeling. When choosing an oil, the orientation for the buyer should first of all be the marking of the product, which characterizes its technical features, and then the orientation towards the manufacturer.

Competitors and international recognition

The most popular manufacturer of TSP-15k oil is currently considered Lukoil, however, it is not a monopolist in this area of \u200b\u200bactivity. RosNeft is also considered to be the biggest rivals of Lukoil. Transmission oil of the TSP-15k category is also produced by many small factories, the most active among which are the Zarechye and Necton Sea concerns, as well as numerous regional suppliers.

Among other things, TSP-15 oil according to API classification complies with GL-3 standardization recognized throughout the world. According to the same standards, lubricants for trucks are manufactured by foreign manufacturers. The most popular imported analogues of the TSP 15 lubricant are Shell, SpiraxEP 90W Mobil, Gear oil EP 90 and others. The presence of analogues on the international market speaks of the high competitiveness of the domestic liquid TSP, confirms its demand in the industrial sphere. Despite the strict control of the foreign market by its manufacturers, TSP-15 is successfully exported abroad and has its own buyer.

Let's sum up

TSP oil is recognized not only by the domestic consumer, but also ranked among those recognized throughout the world. Its quality characteristics have proven their effective influence on the performance properties of transmission structures, provided that the products are used in the respective climatic regions. Priority should be given to oils that are sold at points of sale that have certification documents for the goods sold. Only in this way will the buyer be able to protect himself from the purchase of low-quality lubricant products that do not meet GOST standards, and, accordingly, the declared characteristics.

5.4.1.2. Preparing for the test

The walls and all parts of the box (except for gears and bearings) are thoroughly cleaned with a brush, washed with B-70 gasoline and dried. The gears and the bearing are inspected for damage, washed with B-70 gasoline, and then with petroleum ether and dried. The edges of the copper plate are ground, then washed, dried and weighed with an error of not more than 0.0002 g. Install the bearings, gears and the catalyst plate into the box. Close the box and pour 120 cm 3 of the test oil through the inlet tube.

Mark the time and turn on the electric motor. The output power of the generator is set to 128 W and the air flow rate is 1 dm 3 / h. Heat the oil to 155 ° C and maintain the temperature with an accuracy of ± 1 ° C. After 30 minutes of machine operation, an oil sample (2 cm 3) is taken and the kinematic viscosity at 50 ° C (GOST 33) is determined. Then, samples of oils for determining the viscosity are taken every 10 hours of machine operation. At the end of 50 hours of testing, the machine is stopped, the oil is poured into a clean flask or beaker and the viscosity at 50 ° C and the amount of substances insoluble in petroleum ether and gasoline (separately) are determined according to GOST 6370. The gears and the copper plate are removed, inspected and the condition of the parts and parts of the box, bearing gears and the copper plate are described. Remove deposits from the catalyst plate and weigh it to determine the copper activity of the oil.

5.4.1.4. Processing results

The increase in the viscosity of the oil during its oxidation (D v) as a percentage is calculated by the formula

where v - viscosity at 50 ° C of oxidized oil, m / s (cSt);

v 0 - viscosity at 50 ° C of fresh oil, m / s (cSt).

The mass fraction in the oxidized oil of substances insoluble in petroleum ether and gasoline, ( X 0) as a percentage, calculated by the formula

where t -weight of the sample of oxidized oil, g;

t 1 - weight of the weighing bottle with a clean filter, g;

t 2 - weight of weighing bottle with filter and insoluble substances, g.

The arithmetic mean of two parallel determinations is taken as the test result, the permissible discrepancies between which should not exceed 10% relative to the average determination result. The amount of insoluble substances less than 0.5% is estimated as their absence.

5.4.1 - 5.4.1.4. (Modified edition, Amendment No. 5).

(Modified edition, Amendment No. 7).

5.4.2.2. Processing results

Mass fraction of sediment in oxidized oil ( X os) as a percentage is calculated by the formula

where t 2 - weight of weighing bottle with filter and sediment;

t 1 - weight of the weighing bottle with a clean filter;

36.5 - weight of the oil sample, g.

The arithmetic mean of two parallel determinations is taken as the test result, the permissible discrepancies between which should not exceed 10% relative to the average determination result.

The mass fraction of sediment in oxidized oil up to 0.02% inclusive is estimated as its absence.

5.5. Determination of the tendency of oil to foaming

The essence of the method is to blow a certain volume of air through the oil at a constant speed and determine the volume of foam.

Steel air inlet tube with a spherical diffuser with a diameter of 25.4 mm, made of molten crystalline grains of aluminum oxide.

Rubber stopper with holes for the air inlet and outlet pipes.

Rubber tubes with a diameter of (10 ± 1) mm.

One of the Russian lubricants that have successfully survived the flow of Western analogues after the collapse of the USSR, today is TSP-15k transmission oil. This product is produced by several large firms, and the demand for it is still quite high.

There are several reasons for this. Firstly, many factories producing heavy equipment in Russia still make gear and worm gears with low contact loads and relatively low rotational speeds, which makes it possible to effectively use TSP-15k.

Secondly, the price for this liquid is low. Below we will consider in detail what the TSP-15k oil is and where it is used.

Specifications

According to GOSTs, lubricants must be suitable for a wide variety of tests. This generates an impressive list of characteristics.

Some of them are very specific and are used in narrow areas. Others are significant and directly determine where a particular lubricant can be used.

Below we will consider several significant technical characteristics of TSP-15k transmission oil:

The characteristics of TSP-15k have now grown qualitatively relative to the same grease produced in Soviet times. The reason lies in the use of a more technologically advanced additive package and a cleaner base.

Scope and analogues

Traditionally, the field of application of TSP-15k oil is Russian agricultural machinery and trucks, such as KamAZ, KrAZ and URALs.

Even the index "k" in the name of the lubricant is still popularly associated with the word "KAMAZ". Basically, it is poured into the transmissions of those trucks that were produced no later than 10 years ago.

According to GOSTSAEAccording to GOSTBy API
9 75 WTM-1 |GL-1
12 80W / 85WTM-2GL-2
18 90 TM-3GL-3
34 140 TM-4GL-4
- - TM-5GL-5

More technological oil is poured into the new transmission units of modern Russian cars. Although some pieces of equipment are still coming off the assembly line, in the bridges and transfer cases of which it is permissible to fill in lubricant from this category.

In technical terms, the use of TSP-15k oil is suitable for use in any units in which the following conditions are met:

  • the transmission of kinematic energy is carried out by means of toothed cylindrical and bevel gears, worm and hypoid gears;
  • maximum possible contact load below 2500 MPa;
  • the maximum operating temperature does not exceed 130 ° C.

The TSP-15k transmission fluid is classified as TM-3-18 according to GOST. When translated to other international standards, this means that the oil is close in performance to the API GL-3 class and to the SAE 85-W80 class.

The American GL-3 standard is as close as possible, but it is not a complete analogue of TSP-15k in key parameters.

Popular manufacturers of TSP-15k and reviews of their products

Below is a short list of manufacturers of TSP-15k transmission oil:

All of the above oils do not have sharply negative reviews. The basic rule, in order to use them as safely and efficiently as possible, is to replace them in a timely manner and not pour into unsuitable assemblies.
