Then lift it vertically to remove the bolts and then remove it. After removing the toilet, cover the drain with a rag to block waste gases. If the cabinet flange is rusty and worn, replace it. Most toilet tanks come assembled, but if you need to install a shutoff valve and flapper, follow the manufacturer's instructions. If not provided by the manufacturer, insert bolts into the inner bottom connecting the cistern to the toilet. Install the rubber gasket on the outlet wall of the drain tank. Secure the tank with nuts to the underside of the toilet. Do not over-tighten the bolts as the ceramic may crack. Install new bolts into the toilet flange. Apply a new wax ring to the flange. If the wax ring is cold, allow it to come to room temperature; it is easier to work with when warm. Be sure to align the ring on the flange. The bolts must go through the holes in the toilet. The water tank must be parallel to the wall. Tighten the bolts with nuts, but not too tightly. Change the torque when tightening the bolt to distribute the load evenly. Check the level of the toilet tank and make a small adjustment. Install the toilet seat following the manufacturer's instructions. Connect the water supply hose to the toilet and turn on the water supply faucet. Press the toilet flush several times. Seal the base with silicone sealant. Install the toilet cistern lid. Check the system operation.
