I decided to write my opinion about the backpacks used by me in the hikes of the last 12 years.
There were 4 backpacks in total: "Pokhodny 65" from the Splav company; "Canyon 85", "Pharaoh 95", "Huntsman 100" from Equipment.
Each of them has its own range of use, its pros and cons.
Now more about each of them:
one. " Hiking 65»From the Splav company. This is the oldest of my backpacks and have been going around for 12 years now. He went with him about 100 LDPE in Zhiguli, more than 25 hiking, skiing and water trips in the South Urals. For the entire time of its operation, I have replaced only 2 accessories on the shoulder straps. Not a single seam, not a single strap has yet been torn or parted. A part of the fabric on the right shoulder strap was swept a little. This is how it looks now:

Advantages:
- the ideal (in my opinion) volume for 2-3-day LDPE and short, uncomplicated hikes (up to 9-10 days);
- light weight, less than 750 grams;
- for the purposes indicated above, it has an excellent margin of safety, despite the seemingly thin fabric;
- wide shoulder straps;
- the presence of a large, large pocket in the back and a large enough pocket on the valve;
- three pairs of side ties (although the top ones are not particularly needed);
- reinforced double bottom;
- at the time when I bought it, it was the best option in terms of price / quality combination (it cost only 650 rubles).
Disadvantages:
- the shoulder straps and the belt are not rigid enough, when wearing a weight of more than 20 kg, this becomes very noticeable.
Recommendations:
This backpack is great for 2-3 days PVD and short, uncomplicated hikes (up to 9-10 days) with a weight of up to 20 kg (I carried a maximum of 25 kg in it).
2. " Canyon 85»From Equipment (old model 2005, current model slightly different). I bought this backpack especially for mountain hiking in the Caucasus. I was with him in the Caucasus on the first two campaigns and again later (the maximum duration of the routes is 9 days). During these three trips, no drawbacks were revealed in the design, except for the suspension design and belt attachment that was not convenient for me personally. The backpack did not suit me, so I decided to sell it (it looked almost new, absolutely intact), and buy myself another one.

Advantages:
- sufficient (in my opinion) volume for hikes of medium duration and difficulty, and with the use of castings for any hikes;
- the presence of a volume pocket on the valve;
- tube;
- removable valve;
- three pairs of side ties;
- reinforced double bottom;
Disadvantages:
- the shoulder straps are a little too narrow, when wearing a weight of more than 30 kg it becomes very noticeable (he carried a maximum of 35 kg in it);
- the suspension system is not suitable for everyone (I did not like it during operation).
Recommendations:
This backpack is suitable for hikes of medium duration and difficulty, and with castings for any hike. But, be sure to try it on yourself (like any other backpack) for an accurate understanding of whether the suspension system of this backpack is right for you.
3. " Pharaoh 95»From Equipment. I liked this backpack as soon as I saw it and tried it on. The suspension system seemed to be made for me. If not for the weight, the backpack would be just perfect for mountain hikes. I went with him on 8 campaigns to the Caucasus. This model is suitable for long hikes of any complexity, but it must be borne in mind that the backpack is not light.

Advantages:
- for the purposes indicated above, it has a good margin of strength and durability;
- rigid shoulder straps and belt;
- the presence of a volume pocket on the back, on the flap, as well as secret inner pockets;
- tube;
- removable valve;
- three pairs of side ties;
- side pockets at the bottom for support of objects fixed in side ties;
- the lower split valve (although I actually did not use it);
- reinforced double bottom;
- good, reliable fittings;
- at the time when I bought it, it was one of the best options in terms of price / quality ratio.
Disadvantages:
The only drawback of this backpack is its heavy weight (3.1 kg). Therefore, he sold it in good condition, without breaking or tearing anything.
Recommendations:
This backpack is suitable for long hikes and any difficulty, especially with the use of castings, but not for lovers of easy walking, since with all its convenience and reliability it is heavy.
4. " Huntsman 100»From Equipment. To replace the "Pharaoh" I took this very model, with which I went through the last 8 campaigns in the Caucasus and 1 in the South Urals. This is actually my ideal backpack. There is absolutely nothing superfluous in it! Only its volume is a little too big for me, I would like this model to have an 80-liter analogue.

Advantages:
- Sufficient (in my opinion) volume for hikes of long duration and of any complexity, especially with the use of casts;
- light weight (2.3 kg) for such a powerful and durable backpack;
- for the purposes indicated above, it has a good margin of strength and durability;
- rigid shoulder straps and belt;
- the presence of a very large pocket on the valve;
- tube;
- removable valve;
- four pairs of side ties;
- side pockets at the bottom for support of objects fixed in side ties;
- additional attachment points for equipment;
- reinforced double bottom;
- at the time when I bought it, it was one of the best (in my opinion, generally the best) option in terms of price / quality combination.
Disadvantages:
On my model, both upper shoulder fittings broke. They are not particularly important, but an unpleasant aftertaste from a decrease in the quality of accessories on the Equipment backpacks remained…. It's good that I have in rem. the set always has spare fittings and wire. In addition, there were no flaws, breakdowns, defects.
Recommendations:
This backpack is suitable for long hikes and any difficulty, especially with castings. The best way of all that I had.

If we are talking in this thread about personal experience, then we can do without general phrases, but we will operate with specific data, such as: model name, manufacturer, specifications, terms, conditions and places of operation? Some general words heavier foreign backpacks more than compensate for their weight with fantastic comfort, you can carry much more weight cargo. As a result, their "efficiency" is much higher. personally, they do not tell me anything, since I have (as I wrote above) the opposite experience. Compared to Pharaoh 95, similar models of Duter and Tatonka do not win in anything. Or the presence of a pocket for a bottle and a pair of additional straps for equipment (which I personally do not need in my hikes) and there are those very comfortable compensators? Good ballasting of a backpack in similar models does not depend on the manufacturer, but more on how you know how to pack your backpack. The wear resistance of our models is mostly higher, they also do not lose in weight. As for the suspension, I already wrote that it was better than that of Pharaoh 95 (the Huntsman as a whole is not worse). So what kind of efficiency are we talking about?
For an example of the quality of the Pharaoh 95 backpack, I will give a couple of examples, although I do not recommend repeating them.
1. When descending from the lane. Subashi (1B) in 2007 we came across a small glacier. Although he is not there on the map. With heavy backpacks (this was the third day of the hike), I decided not to waste time organizing the ropes and bypassing, but to test the strength of the backpack. Having removed all the valuables in the assault backpack, I lowered my Pharaoh 95 down the snow-ice slope on my own, and then Kirill did the same with his similar backpack. They both flew over the entire snow-ice area (about 100 m), then 25-30 meters along the talus, and then stopped. After we calmly went down to them lightly, we found that there was NOT a SINGLE SCRAP, HOLE OR BREAK on them!
2. In 2008, while descending from a nameless n / a pass, we encountered tall (higher than our height) dense grass. To make it easier for the participants following me to walk, I used Pharaoh 95 as a bulldozer, dragging him behind me, paving an excellent path for them :)
This path is visible from the opposite slope of the valley.
