ION game review

ION- a construction simulator in which you have to design and create space stations. Considering that the cost of this game project is as much as $ 2.5 million, I would like to believe that the result will be simply amazing.
The story begins at a time when the colonization of outer space is in its active phase. Humanity is beginning to use the technology of growing its descendants in test tubes with might and main, and the player is to become one of such test tube representatives of the human race.

There are no specific goals in ION. It depends on the players what the history of the world will be like. Someone likes the construction of space stations, someone prefers to skip the construction process and purchase a ready-made structure, and someone likes to become an officer and take up the maintenance of order and law. Unusual game features include the possibility of destroying absolutely everything around, and this applies not only to stations, but also to clothing. All destruction is quite realistic to restore subsequently, which will help chemistry, biology and genetics.

To develop the character, you have to fulfill social and automatic contracts. Moreover, if the essence of automatic contracts is to perform a certain type of work, then social contracts are created by the players themselves, which means that they will certainly have a surprise effect.

What the developers did a good job on is the number of skills. Even if you are constantly in the game world for a year, you are unlikely to be able to master more than half of all the provided skills, including engineering, chemistry, medicine and other interesting areas.

But not everything is so easy and simple, because at any moment your character can be overtaken by permanent death, there are plenty of ways in ION. Given that the action takes place during the period of active cloning, death is not the worst event, but it does not make it less unpleasant.

So far, all of the above are just plans making the ION project one of the anticipated simulators. By the way, it will not be designed for singles at all, since you will have to survive in the open game world among thousands of people like you who come from a test tube, unless, of course, they want to purchase this game after it appears on sale.

ION, 5.7 out of 10 based on 3 ratings

Attentive readers of the Laboratory site know that video recorders are frequent guests of our tests. This is no coincidence, this class of devices has changed noticeably in recent years, these are far from simple boxes with a plastic lens and dubious video quality. Modern hardware devices can give odds even to smartphones, the Ion Air Pro WiFi is one such example.
This camera belongs to the class of action cameras, such recorders stand apart, of course, you should not buy and consider this model as a regular video recording in a car. But for shooting videos while engaging in extreme sports, it will be the very thing. She is not afraid of water, snow, heat, mud and even falls. Such videos are no less popular than footage from the main road.

In the very same segment of action cameras, the leadership was held by GoPro for a long time, but more and more manufacturers are displaying their devices in this segment, which are not inferior in functionality and performance. By the way, it is the IONs that have official permission to be used in Formula 3 races. We will take this into account when testing the Ion Air Pro WiFi, changing the traditional set of rides on a bicycle and a motorcycle.

Ion Air Pro WiFi availability

At the time of testing, the average cost of Ion Air Pro WiFi, according to Yandex.Market, was 9,990 rubles.

Ion Air Pro WiFi Package Contents

One of the distinctive features of action cameras is an extended set of accessories, and in particular mounts. Ion Air Pro WiFi is no exception, here it really deserves attention.

The package itself consists of two parts, transparent with a pedestal for the camera and a metal can with all kinds of fasteners. In the future, this can can be used to transport the camera to the filming location.

At first glance, it is difficult to understand all this variety, and this is not surprising: several belts (for a helmet, boots, hands), hinge mounts (car interior, helmet, housings and even a snowboard), contact pads with double-sided tape, a tripod with legs.

The buyer also gets: a case, an AV cable, a CD with software, a back cover with Wi-Fi and a network adapter with adapters for different sockets.

Appearance of Ion Air Pro WiFi

Ion Air Pro WiFi has a spectacular appearance... The design uses a combination of black and blue colors. The blue inserts give the camera a recognizable appearance, they are located at the back of the body and in the area of the lens.

The big advantage over the GoPro is its cylindrical shape and streamlined edges, which allows for minimal drag at high speeds.

I am glad that there is no plastic, the main body material is aluminum. However, the back cover and lens are still plastic.

But, despite this, you should not worry about the safety of the lens, all attempts to break it did not lead to success.

In general, there are only a minimum of details on the case, for example, control is organized by only two buttons. One turns on the device itself (and also takes pictures), and the second starts or stops the video recording process.

There is also a third button for activating the Wi-Fi module, it is located on the removable cover. Work wireless network signals the LED, there is little logic in its work, as well as informational content.

All connectors are hidden under a removable cover. This slot is micro SD, micro USB, AV and mini HDMI, as well as an HD / Full HD switch.

At the end, you can mark a fastening element on the bottom surface of the camera, it is fastened with one screw, this element is used as an adapter for the included fasteners.

Ion Air Pro WiFi software

As you can see, the device does not have a built-in display, only remote configuration is possible. We just connect the camera to the computer and run the proprietary utility. By the way, you do not need to download the program, it is located in internal memory and becomes available for use. The interface is distinguished by simplicity and ergonomics, all items are divided into tabs, a minimum of elements and unnecessary graphics. The user gains access to camera settings and captured videos.

Android and Ion Air Pro WiFi

Ion Air Pro WiFi can also be configured using a free application. To do this, download the application from Google Play, activate the Wi-Fi connection on the camera and connect to it.

Camera settings and access to materials are also available here. From here you can also take photos and videos.

This application is useful for adjusting the position of the camera, but no more. This is due to the fact that the connection is unstable and is often lost when moving.

The same application is available for Apple iPhone and iPad owners.

Ion Air Pro WiFi Testing

As part of testing, because of the bad weather, we did not take recordings from the steering wheel of a bicycle or motorcycle, and there are enough similar videos on the network. It was decided to beat the license for filming in Formula-3 on tests in this direction, unfortunately, while there is no access to cars, but there are high-quality RC models. The camera was installed on the roof of a car (1: 5 format with an internal combustion engine), during the trips it turned over more than once, was exposed to water and dirt.

According to the impressions, there is not enough rigidity in the mount, despite the strong tightening, the hinge during driving over bumps gives a noticeable change in the angle of inclination. The camera coped with the main tasks perfectly.

In general, the quality of the videos can be assessed as excellent in comparison with competitors, in particular with the same GoPro.

Also, the camera was immersed in the aquarium, being there for an hour, the video can be viewed below.

The built-in battery lasts for 2 hours of continuous shooting, video is recorded without dividing into separate clips. You can edit the video using the bundled software or your usual video editor.

Video review Ion Air Pro WiFi

Bottom line on Ion Air Pro WiFi

Ion Air Pro WiFi- action camera of excellent quality. During the operation and testing, failures and serious problems were not recorded. This is one of those devices that are interesting to use outside of the set of test operations, in fact, which is what we will do. This camera has a wide range of applications, it will have to be in place during active rest, sporting events and just to capture a particular trick. Unlike the same GoPro, a separate protective case is not required for filming. The only thing we would recommend for a car is to choose a more familiar form factor, this camera will be dull and boring on the windshield.

Pros - build quality, metal body, minimum of moving parts, ease of operation, wide range of equipment, well-thought-out fastening system, stylish appearance.

Cons - there is not enough rigidity of the fasteners, failures during Wi-Fi connection with a smartphone, there is not enough indicator of the charge level and memory on the card on the case.

The presence of a universal screw connector on the case allows, if necessary, to independently make the necessary fasteners for your individual needs. I would like to believe that the Wi-Fi issue will be resolved in future firmware updates. Based on the test results Ion Air Pro WiFi receives an award "Hit..

More and more often we hear from someone or read the phrase "action camera" on the web or in magazines. And in most cases, the associative array immediately leads us to GoPro cameras. Meanwhile, there are a number of companies in the world that have been working in this direction for a long time and seriously and are developing very interesting devices that may well compete and often surpass the promoted ones. GoPro cameras... And today we will grieve about one of them.

This is a iOn Air Pro WiFi action camera manufactured by American company World Wide Licenses Ltd (WWL), which has been involved in the design, development and manufacture of electronics for leading electronics brands around the world for the past 12 years. For example, the company developed computer peripheral equipment for Disney (under their brand name), and in 2002 WWL obtained exclusive rights to create and distribute digital cameras Polaroid around the world. In 2002, the Ion brand was also founded as a sub-brand of Polaroid cameras. Incidentally, Ion Worldwide is the only extreme cam brand approved by the FIA for use in Formula 3 racing. Moreover, Ion Worldwide is a sponsor of the Ion Campos Racing Team. Interesting? Then let's go.

02 ... We start, as usual, from afar - by opening the package.
I love this moment very much - already at this stage it is often possible to draw the first timid conclusions about the quality of the gadget itself.

03 ... Pulling off paper packaging, we get two separate boxes.
One of transparent plastic with a camera inside, and another, metal (!!!), for everything else.

04 ... And the rest is invested there - mom, do not cry! No matter how I tried to push everything back until the lid is closed normally, it does not work. My categorical respect and respect to the valiant packers.

05 ... Let's figure out what they put on us so interesting. From "waste paper": b / w guide for quick start in English, a b / w guide in English on mounts (this is a very important aspect for this type of cameras) and (!!!) a color manual in Russian. Optional software on CD: photo manager and simple video editor from Magix. Plus, outdated versions. Well, who needs them, in general, when everyone prefers to install Adobe video editors right away?))

06 ... Let's remove the unnecessary and paper from the frame and see what remains in the bottom line.
- Camera
- PODZ plug with built-in Wi-Fi adapter
- Bike carrier (fits all tubular bases)
- Helmet mount
- Short belt
- Long belt
- Hand strap
- Case
- Spherical bearing
- L-shaped ball joint
- Universal power adapter
- 4 attachments for the power adapter for all occasions
- USB cable
- AV cable
- Mini tripod
- Spare tape 3M one-sided
- Spare tape 3M double-sided.
If we start drawing parallels with the GoPro (we will focus on the GoPro Hero 3 White Edition model in view of the almost identical price of 9,990 rubles to the iOn Air Pro WiFi), then the comparison in terms of the configuration will not be at all in favor of the gopro. The kit will include a waterproof box, a battery, a pair of platforms with 3M tape, a J-Hook latch, a quick release latch, a USB cable and that's it.

07 ... Here one could focus on the waterproof box, but iOn Air Pro WiFi simply does not need it. It can be immersed in water and, of course, removed like this. As it is. 10 meters. GoPro in boxing can dive up to 60 meters, but the question is - can you do it?

08 ... Let's go over some of the elements of the "filling" in more detail. Pay attention to a kind of "clothespin" at the bottom of the camera in the previous photo. This is a basic latch that, with a slight movement of the hand, fixes the device to other, specialized mounts. For example, here is such a thing designed to fix the camera on the handlebars of a large, motorcycle and similar bases. I, in view of the harsh winter conditions for the test, attached iOn Air Pro WiFi to the handle of a children's sled. However, you will see this later in the test video. By the way, a bicycle mount for goproha will cost you an additional 1200-1500 rubles. Although, probably, there are "alternative" options on Ibei.

09 ... Tripod. Nice, maybe that's what it will do. However, the hole on the bottom of the camera is standard, so there is always a possibility to screw the camera onto a more stable tripod. What is it for? Remember that the name of the camera is marked WiFi, which means that it can be controlled from a distance using a smartphone. It is very useful, for example, when shooting competitions. Or even while watching someone)

10 ... L-shaped ball joint already attached to the helmet mount. For goupro, you will also have to buy this case.
And also much, much more.

Power adapter for charging the device with four (!!!) attachments for all occasions. You never know where it will take you in search of extreme experiences? Here, in the meantime, I will complain that iOn Air Pro WiFi cannot shoot in charging mode. Autonomously, the manufacturer promises 2.5 hours of work (shooting). With the included Wi-Fi less, of course.

12 ... I would like to note the form factor of the front lens. It is convex, which, I think, will have a good effect on aerodynamics (like the entire body of the device), and flying dirt and moisture will self-clean under the pressure of oncoming air flows. There is an opinion that such a decision can play a cruel joke if the camera flips with this protruding lens. I personally did not set up such experiments, but below, so to speak, in the video block, I will post a video where pneumatics are shooting at this very lens. So, I think the manufacturer still deliberately left the front lens "unprotected".

13 ... Let's go to management. We can say a family of "one-button", tk. the second "controller" is a slider or, if you like, a toggle switch. The button turns the camera on / off, as well as in the already turned on state, with a short press, it works in the camera mode. All manipulations are confirmed tactilely - the device has a vibration motor, which is very convenient when the camera is installed, for example, on the head and you do not see the LEDs. Even the photo taken by the camera is confirmed by a slight short "bjjj". Toubler, as indicated by the captions, starts and stops recording. By the way, the box with toothpicks did not appear in the picture by accident, but gives an idea of the dimensions of the gadget: 110 x 37 x 37 mm.

14 ... Another button will appear at the back of the camera if you replace the standard dongle with a dongle with a WiFi module. This is the so-called PODZ. By pressing the button, you, respectively, turn it on and you can connect and control the gadget wirelessly. But more on that later.

15 ... If we remove the cap, we will find more traditional connection methods: via micro-USB, AV or mini-HDMI interfaces. For the latter, you will need to purchase a cable. There is also a lever for hardware switching of video recording quality (HD or FullHD), a slot for a micro-SD card, as well as a hidden button for rebooting the camera.

16 ... When you first connect to a computer on windows, you will not have time to blink an eye, as a tiny program iON.exe will appear at the root of the card out of nowhere. Did I say that that CD is completely useless?

17 ... By launching the program, we can view the files (transfer them to the Explorer window), or adjust the video and photo parameters, as well as update the firmware. There is no Russian language, but in general, everything is intuitive. Auto power off, date-time ... Please note, the camera has a sensor that determines whether the camera is upside down or not. It is very convenient if there is no screen on the camera. However, any video editor will turn the picture with one click of the mouse.

18 ... Video settings. It would seem that the priority is always for maximum quality, but there are some nuances: the camera shoots 60 frames per second at HD resolution and 30 at Full HD. The viewing angle also changes depending on the selected parameters: 127 ° in 1080p mode, 150 ° in 720p mode, 170 ° in 960p mode.

19 ... Photo mode settings. We adjust the quality and shooting mode.
As you can see, there is even an option to shoot time lapses.

20 ... However, personally, I have an unshakable conviction that photographs should still be taken with cameras, not video. As a last resort, there is always a smartphone. Conservative, what is already there. I attach one photo, just in case. Of the advantages, in my opinion, only a wide angle, inaccessible to a smartphone. However, time-lapses are probably still worth trying to make. Maybe I will. This topic attracts me from time to time.

21 ... Actually, let's move on to the smartphone. Download from you know where from (there are versions for both iOS and Android) and install the iON Camera application. We connect to the camera and see what we have here. In the Dashboard tab, we see the connection status and charge level.

22 ... The iON tab will show you the footage manager. Moreover, the video files will be in two resolutions at once. An additional file is written automatically in low resolution (432x240 29.976p) for quick download directly from the application to YouTube and social networks. In the Album tab, files can be immediately divided into folder-albums. It is also worth mentioning the pleasant fact that each iON camera is provided with 8 GB of free space in the iONCloud cloud storage. It allows you to view data via a smartphone or tablet from anywhere in the world. GoPro does not have such proprietary services.

23 ... Setting tab. Settings for everything and everyone.

24 ... You can quickly change the photos and video settings already voiced above. In the Remote tab, respectively, you can control the camera in real time. The image is transmitted directly to the smartphone screen. There is a slight delay, but not at all critical. Here is a small screen for you, in which case.

25 ... Little by little we got to the video examples. First, my impromptu video. Do not judge strictly, I myself am still an extreme, so instead of a snowboard I have a children's sled, and instead of Pacific beaches, I have my own bathtub. It would have been summer, it would have been possible to shoot something more fervently, but our frosts are bitter.

26 ... The video promised above is about shooting the lens.

27
... An excellent video, where iOn Air Pro WiFi is compared in the same conditions with the more expensive GoPro Hero3 Black Edition, I propose to draw conclusions from which on an individual basis, but for myself I see some advantage in GoPro in night shooting and underwater, but at the same time on the face of a complete failure in the juiciness of the image during the day, in the evening, indoors and so on. You can call it taste, but ... In general, we look and decide for ourselves.

28 ... On this, perhaps, round off. I just want to add that at the moment there is also an older model iOn Air Pro WiFi II on sale in Russia, and the third version of the camera has recently appeared in the USA. And I want to definitely try it. Judging by the promo on YouTube and the official website, this is just a bomb. 120 frames per second! Many have probably seen a dynamic GoPro promo video, but here's an alternative from iON for your sweet tooth. Enjoy!

Review of the ION PRO 100BT player | Functions and additional features

Of course, the immediate task of a turntable is to play records, and with it ION PRO 100BT, of course, he does it jokingly. The beauty of the automatic "turntable" is that it is enough to press one button, and it will play the entire side of the record, and at the end the auto-stop will work and the tonearm will return to the holder. You can switch the rotational speed of the plate: are the standard 33 supported? and 45 rpm, that is, both modern speeds. For ancient shellac discs at 78 rpm, you will have to find another device - primarily because such a thin and delicate needle simply does not fit them.

But have ION PRO 100BT There are some unusual features that make this turntable stand out from the crowd of modern turntables.

Let's go in order. First of all, the manufacturer calls as many as four ways to listen to a record using ION PRO 100BT: This is an external audio system, wireless bluetooth speaker, headphones and computer speaker.

Connection to a home stereo system is made using standard RCA cables - "tulips". It does not matter whether your amplifier or receiver has a phono stage, that is, a preamplifier with a circuit that corrects the frequency response of the signal from the turntable or not. V ION PRO 100BT built-in switchable phono stage, thanks to which the "turntable" can be connected to any power amplifier or to any active speaker system. If you want to use a separate phono stage or circuit in your amp, you can turn off the phono stage in the PRO 100BT using the switch on the rear panel.

Connection ION PRO 100BT to a Bluetooth speaker looks as elementary as pairing Bluetooth headphones with a smartphone. You need to press the Bluetooth button in the lower left corner of the player's table and put the speaker into the source search mode. During the search, the button on the "turntable" will blink blue, and when the connection is established, it will be on continuously. On the column, you may need to press the play button, if there is one. Everything, listen and enjoy! Very comfortable, practical and modern.

With headphones, everything is as usual: you simply plug the plug into the standard 3.5mm jack in the lower left corner of the table and adjust the volume using the adjacent knob. The only thing is that when the dust cover is closed, even the thinnest headphone cable will rub against its edge and on the table surface.

Listening when connected to a computer is a proprietary feature of ION Audio: the key advantage of the players of this brand has always been the ability to digitize records without using any additional equipment and complex programs. Such players are equipped with a built-in analog-to-digital converter (ADC), which outputs the signal already in digital form via the USB bus. Operating system recognizes a player connected via USB as an external USB audio device and decodes the audio signal with standard codecs.

For listening and recording records with ION PRO 100BT on the computer, you need to select the external USB audio device as the input device, and the computer sound card as the output device. For recording, you should also set your USB device as the default recorder.

Review of the ION PRO 100BT player | EZ Vinyl Converter

For digitizing gramophone records, the proprietary program EZ Vinyl Converter is designed, which can be download from the manufacturer's website... This software is available in Windows and for macOS, which are identical both externally and functionally.

This is an extremely simple utility without any additional settings, actually consisting of five consecutive windows. The program is not Russified, but understanding what is required of you will not be special labor... On the first screen, the program greets you and prompts you to connect the player to your computer, and then click the "Next" button.

The program recognizes the device, and when you are ready to record, you will need to press the "Record" button and then the "Start" button on the player. However, we would recommend doing exactly the opposite: first start the player, and then record, so that extraneous noises, including the sound of dropping the stylus onto the record, do not get into the file. Finally, it is worth checking the correct recording level first, which can be adjusted by the vertical sliders on the right side of the window.

Here you can also check the "Split recording into tracks" checkbox - the program automatically recognizes standard pauses, but if there is no obvious division on the disc or we have a concert recording in front of us, then you will have to do the breakdown manually.

The third window displays the recording time and after its completion, here you need to click the "Next" button.

In the fourth window, you can select the location to save the file (for Windows, the "Music" folder is set by default), as well as enter the name of the artist and the names of the album and song.

Finally, in the fifth window, it is proposed to go to the recording of another disc, open the explorer window with the saved files, or close the program.

As you can see, EZ Vinyl Converter is the ultimate simple program, understandable even for those who, in principle, are not friends with computers. In Windows, recording is carried out in uncompressed WAV format, so if you wish, you can "conjure" over the result in advanced audio editors.

We suggest listening small snippet from the digitizing file without any editing.

Review of the ION PRO 100BT player | Impressions of use and conclusions

During testing ION PRO 100BT left the most pleasant impressions. Neat modern design, so unlike cheap Chinese crafts for "retro", pleasant-looking materials, high-quality assembly and fitting of all parts - all these are the absolute advantages of the player.

In terms of functionality ION PRO 100BT, then everything that was promised works here, and exactly as it was promised. Clear, smooth and problem-free. I would especially like to note the function of connecting to Bluetooth speakers, which is truly unique for turntables. The ION PRO 100BT will easily fit into your home entertainment system, since this turntable has a built-in phono stage and can work with any amplifier or receiver. Finally, ION Audio's proprietary easy-to-digitize LP function is really simple and straightforward.

ION PRO 100BT is a good example of what a good modern turntable can look like entry level equipped with a built-in ADC, phono stage, headphone amplifier and Bluetooth module.

ADVANTAGES

  • Modern design
  • Excellent build quality and materials
  • MM cartridge
  • Built-in phono stage
  • Built-in bluetooth module

LIMITATIONS

  • Simplified tonearm design
  • Rear panel power button

The demand for action cameras in Russia is still awaiting its "boom", but there is no reason to doubt it in the near future. Citizens are more and more interested in sports photography, and manufacturers are actively replenishing store shelves with interesting novelties. Moreover, the market is just beginning to form. It was enough to walk through the respective stands at IFA 2013 to see the variety of models (moreover, new products) of the considered category of portable cameras.

The iON brand has just come to Russia, so first you should tell some Interesting Facts about him. So, iON Worldwide is an American brand, formed in 2002 as a Polaroid-controlled company. By that time, the World Wide Licenses company (which, by the way, has 12 years of experience in electronics development) received exclusive rights to release Polaroid cameras. Among the merit of iON is the sponsorship of the iON Campos Racing Team in Formula 3. Moreover, in the races of this championship, the FIA allowed the use of iON cameras only.

Contents of delivery
The set of accessories supplied with the camera is not the smallest, although you should turn to the first generation iON Air Pro Wi-Fi for "scattering" of additional "goodies".

The main mount is designed to be mounted on a helmet or rounded surfaces. We tried to make the holder universal: it can be fixed on only one sticker on 3M adhesive tape (one sticker is included) or use the slots for fixing it on the belts. The articulated base was chosen very successfully for adjusting the position of the camera; it is much more convenient than the options with the freedom of adjustment in only one plane. The hinge holder is secured and loosened with a plastic washer.

The second complete holder is a small but sturdy tripod on three flexible legs with rubber pads. Using a tripod, you can take pictures of yourself from the side, or even use the camera for remote video surveillance.

In our opinion, the tripod is also convenient when creating timelapse videos. After all, with its help, you don't have to think about how to fix the camera, directing it in the right direction at the required angle. And other mounts are of little use for installation, say, on the ground. And on YouTube there is a lot of evidence of the timelapse hobbies of iON camera owners. By the way, the corresponding shooting mode is even provided in the camera settings.

The developers paid special attention to the storage and transportation of the model. So, for the house there is a "collection" stand with a plastic "cap" (with a handle).

A durable metal case is available for carrying your camera and accessories.

The iON did not stop there, adding a cloth cover as well.

With the mains charger, complete order - the main unit plus four replaceable attachments. If the geography of your sports hobbies extends to different countries and continents, there will be no problems with charging the camera.

From "little things" - a safety cable and a triangle for unscrewing from the base of the model of the part called CamLOCK. Of course, there is also a microUSB cable.

From "pieces of paper" - a warranty brochure, a card with a description of the "cloud" capabilities of the model and instructions.

There are no problems with the purchase of additional accessories or "consumables" (such as stickers on 3M scotch tape), they are officially supplied to Russia, like the iON cameras themselves. Note that, among other things, a bracket on a vacuum suction cup is proposed for installing the camera on the windshield in a car and using iON Air Pro 2 Wi-Fi as a video recorder.

Appearance and management
The camera body is made of aluminum. There are also two massive plastic inserts. It is clear that the presence of metal parts affected the weight, but the protection of the case is at the same level, which is important in extreme conditions. No sealed covers for underwater shooting are provided, the camera "as is" is capable of shooting at a depth of 10 meters. The lens is protected by a durable lens that cannot be damaged even by shooting from pneumatics - we attach "proof".

ION Air Pro 2 Wi-Fi looks impressive, the dark body with a gray tint is in harmony with the deep blue inserts. The cylindrical shape, first of all, is attractive for its aerodynamic properties - due to the low coefficient of air resistance, the camera does not interfere on the head when downhill skiing, snowboarding or riding a motorcycle. At the same time, iON Air Pro 2 Wi-Fi is convenient to hold when you need to shoot "handheld".

Camera control is understandable even without instructions, there are only two buttons on the body - power and start / stop video recording. In order to take a photo, it is enough to make a quick press of the power button; no switching between camera modes is required. The keys are rubberized for good grip when working with gloves or underwater. There is also a Wi-Fi activation button, but we'll talk about that later.

Under the back cover there is a video mode switch (Full HD / HD), a microSD card slot, a Reset button, as well as AV, HDMI and microUSB connectors.

Settings
There are two ways to get access to the iON Air Pro 2 Wi-Fi settings: wired (connecting with a cable to a computer) and via Wi-Fi. In the first case, we connect the camera to the PC using the supplied microUSB "lanyard", after which we run the ion.exe file in the appeared removable disk. To use Wi-Fi, the first thing to do is to make sure you have a rear dongle called PODZ installed. In general, there are two covers in the kit: one is "normal", and the second is with an oblong element that hides the wireless adapter. The latter also has a sticker indicating the name of the connection point, access password and URL.

To activate Wi-Fi, press the button on the lid, a blinking blue indicator indicates a successful start of the wireless connection. After that, the smartphone or tablet will "see" the wireless point of the camera. We connect and launch the iON Camera application, which should be downloaded from Google Play in advance (as an option - the App Store). In the start window, it is possible to set the default networks for connecting to the camera and uploading the resulting video to the Internet (social networks or "cloud" storage). Let's clarify right away that the camera supports uploading to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, iON Cloud or sending a video via e-mail... A logical question - how convenient is it to "upload" files, including over 3G, files of 100-200 MB? (And this is just a few minutes of video.) The problem is solved in an elementary way, the camera simultaneously records and saves video with a lower resolution and bit rate, just for quick loading online.
There are not many options as such: checking the battery charge, viewing photos and videos (there is filtering and sorting), remote viewing with the "eyes" of the camera and settings. The ability to observe in real time on the smartphone screen what the camera sees, opens up good prospects for additional use cases. For example, as a video surveillance system or a rear view camera in a car. You won't get confused in the settings: changing the resolution of photos and videos, date and time, auto-off and a couple more items. Please note that the built-in accelerometer allows you to automatically rotate the frame when the camera position changes (for example, if a person is upside down). In any case, the reviewed iON Air Pro 2 Wi-Fi gives no reason to doubt it. The main disadvantage of the model is that I would like to see a more extensive package bundle, for example, like the iON Air Pro Wi-Fi model. Let's say it would be nice to have a bike rack. In other aspects of the camera - body design, control, recording quality - there are no critical shortcomings. Except, due to the peculiarities of the case, iON Air Pro 2 Wi-Fi lacks a mount for mounting on the chest. The price of 11,190 rubles is commensurate with the capabilities of the camera, there are also more expensive models with comparable shooting quality on sale.
