Who will promise blood, labor, sweat and tears? Parliamentary speeches of W. Churchill “Blood, Toil, Tears and Sweat” and “Their Finest Hour”

Today I came across a quote again

« If you criticize - suggest, if you suggest - do, if you do - answer».
they write that he allegedly said it (Korolev S.P.)

...

I have known this quote for a long time and completely disagree with it. a typical soviet formulation unworthy of the right to life. This once again shows how important authorities are for us and how stereotypes of thinking are not checked at all before they are put on the show.

If you see a problem, then why should you remain silent if you don’t know how to solve it?
Toyota employees around the world are gathering criticism as if they were undermined, and they consider this the MOST IMPORTANT task of the local branches! because It is with the awareness of the problem that its elimination and development begins. And deproblematization—the transition from a question to a task—is a very difficult thing. It does not always lie on the surface. It often takes exploration and moving to another level of thinking. Einstein said that a problem can only be solved if you reach a higher level of vision than the one where the problem is located.

And the same Einstein said that even if his life depended on some task, he would spend 90% of the time allotted for it on formulating the question. Those. criticism is gold to be chased!
And the question is posed in such a way that you cannot say fairy if you don’t know the answer - this means being left without this gold. Even the cleaning lady Varvara Semyonovna, who will not offer or do anything or answer, but if her fi was essentially a normal reaction, is to listen and check, and not shut her up or demand suggestions, actions and responsibility.

If I don’t understand anything about creating engines, but I had a Lada in my youth, which was in full swing even before the overhaul of 10,000, then now, having a Golf, why can’t I criticize both the engine and chassis of the Lada, if I myself can’t offer anything to the VAZ factory workers, and even more so do something and especially take responsibility.

Do I really need to graduate as an engine engineer to have the right to say, Lada is crap!

ps
And golf crap. We need to switch to Toyota.

Today it dawned on me

Korolev was not a guy from the back alley. Most likely, this statement is a method of working with direct subordinates. The subordinates were not ordinary people. And who else will continue the chain if not these people whom he selected and knows what they are capable of. It’s the same as if the front commander stood up at Headquarters and declared his disagreement - there are no random people there and, most likely, the position should force one to go beyond criticism. Well, who else should continue?

But taken out of the system where this rule worked, of course, it does not work. I think this is the only explanation, because... Korolev is not a fool, but this whole story once again brings us back to the idea that in an unsystematic and non-processual way, in general we should try not to even start intelligent reasoning

What can a manager answer if he hears the refusal “We don’t need anything”:

I have no doubt about it! I am sure that your business is very successful, but life does not stand still, and you probably want to make it even more successful.

Our meeting costs nothing, takes very little time, and you will receive information about advanced developments in this area. I am confident that with this information, you will see for yourself how our proposals can positively influence your work.

In any case, you do not risk anything!

What can a manager say?

It’s great that you don’t need anything - that means things are going well for you. Then I suggest that you and I meet and get to know each other so that you are already informed about us when you have such a need in the future.

I understand you, but you don’t have specific information about our capabilities. I suggest meeting at a time convenient for us. This meeting does not oblige you to anything. The minimum you will receive Additional information about the market, maximum - we will determine the scope of the joint partnership.

To successfully combat an objection, you must agree and then ask several clarifying questions.

For example: “I understand your reaction. At the same time, I didn’t offer you anything specific that you could refuse. Let me tell you about a service that will help you reach new heights in business. Please tell me which way you would like to go.” Is it more convenient to get a presentation of our services?"

Agree - ask clarifying questions - formulate arguments

(Acceptance): It's good that you have an established business.
(Questions): Have you already purchased all the equipment or is there a need, but the budget has been spent? What is important to you when choosing a supplier company?
(Your arguments): Voice to the client 3 of your “strong” arguments in favor of cooperation with you.

There are two possible answers here.
1. Firstly, the client may not really need your product. It’s just that the seller was poorly prepared for the call, and, having spent a lot of effort going through the secretary, did not find out in advance what exactly this company does.

And even in this case, a successful way out of the situation is possible; the seller needs to apologize for the concern and ask the Client for advice: “Do you know who might be interested in our product/service?”

It is often written in business literature that you should never apologize, much less say such “terrible” words as “sorry for bothering you.” I cannot agree with this. Your actions as a salesperson distracted the person from important matters, and your apology will win over the client more than ignoring your actions. In addition, by apologizing, the seller reduces the background of aggression and therefore a request for help (“...advise who might benefit from my product/service”) will be met as an indicator of your inexperience (which can be forgiven), and not arrogance. After all, we rarely refuse when those who are less experienced ask us. And the Client will help you, but what else do you, as a Seller, need?!

And with a probability of at least 50% (50% is the probability of refusal, 50% is the probability of agreeing to help, that is, either yes or no/I don’t know) the client will offer the seller a solution.

And having already received information from the client, the seller can call the new client recommended to him. Having the full right to say that he was recommended, that is, to use recommendations. Which create trust, plus they make it easier to pass through secretaries.

2. The second, more common option, does not mean that the client really does not need your product. This is simply how the client tries to get rid of the seller.
Great, but you don't offer anything. And in order to lead the client away from the unpleasant and unnecessary (as he considers) purchase issue at the moment, you tell him that you are not offering to buy anything (this turn will remove the Client’s aggression, since he did not expect such a turn in communication).

You would just like to know: does the Client’s company use such a product/service?

And here any response from the Client will be of benefit to you, as the Seller.

If the Client answers “no,” the Seller may ask the question: “Excuse me, may I know why?” Or the following question is possible: “Are you planning to use it?” And if again the Client answers that no, he doesn’t expect it, then you can ask him again why.

In any case, the Seller builds a dialogue in which the Client speaks more, and the seller listens carefully, so that based on the information received, he can then make the right client-oriented presentation.

If our question is: “does the Client’s company use such a product/service?” The Client answers “yes”, then to include him in the dialogue the Seller asks: “By what criteria do you choose a supplier of goods/services?”, or “What characteristics of the product/service are most significant for you?”

And here you need to listen carefully - the Client formulates his most important Needs. In addition, when listening to the Client’s story, it is necessary to compare what your product/service has that is significant for the Client.

At the same time, it is very important to use active listening techniques; the Client MUST feel that his opinion is important and interesting. It makes sense to ask for clarification of what this or that characteristic voiced by the Client means, in more detail, for example: “What do you mean by the definition of “optimal quality?” or “What do you mean by “service support?” etc.

The more detailed the client tells you about his desires, the easier it will be for you to offer him something that the Client will be interested in. After all, it was he, the Client, who expressed his wishes, and YOU, it was you who heard them and offered the right solution.

Then, after the Client’s story, the seller needs to say: “I see that you are well versed in this issue!”, or “I see that you take a responsible approach to choosing a product/service (supplier).” A small sincere compliment is a sign of attention, not flattery, and is very pleasant.

The next step is the Seller’s proposal: “The criteria that you voiced are also important to our company. And our product/service meets your wishes/requirements....” Here you need to briefly, using 3-4 criteria voiced by the client, make a presentation of your product/service.

The House of Commons welcomes the formation of a government which represents the united and unwavering determination of the nation to wage war against Germany to the bitter end.

Last Friday evening I received His Majesty's permission to form a new government. It, as the desire and will of Parliament and the nation shows us, must be based on the broadest possible popular support and must include all parties, both those that supported the previous government and the opposition. I have completed the most important part of this task. A cabinet of war ministers was formed, consisting of five members, representing, with the liberal oppositionists, the unity of the nation. The three party leaders agreed to join either the cabinet of war ministers or the supreme executive committee. The army, navy and military aviation received their own leaders. It was necessary to do all this in one day, taking into account the urgency and severity of events. Appointments were made to several other key posts yesterday and I will present a further list of candidates to His Majesty today. I hope to complete the appointment of heads of major ministries during the course of tomorrow. The appointment of other Ministers usually takes longer, but I believe that when Parliament meets again, this part of my duties will be completed and the Government will be fully formed.

I thought it would be in the general interest to propose that the House should be convened today. The President of the House of Commons agreed with me and took necessary actions, in accordance with the powers given to him by a resolution of the House of Parliament. At the end of today's meeting, a recess will be offered until Thursday, May 21, of course, with the opportunity to meet earlier than scheduled if necessary. Members of Parliament will be notified as soon as possible about the business that needs to be done this week. And now I invite, by the authority given to me, to testify to the support of the House for the actions we have taken and to express confidence in the new Government.

To form an administration of this scale and complexity is a serious matter in itself, but we must remember that we are only at the preparatory stage of one of the greatest battles in history, that our troops are engaged in Norway and Holland, that we must prepare for action in the Mediterranean sea, for long air battles, and that much more must be prepared here at home. I believe that in these difficult times I will be forgiven for the fact that my address to the House today will not be long. I hope that each of my friends and colleagues, or former colleagues, will allow today's ceremony to be shorter than expected. I will repeat to the House what I have already said to those who have joined the new Government: “I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat.”

We are facing a severe test. We face many long months of struggle and suffering. You ask me, what is our political course? I will answer: to wage war on sea, land and air, with all the might and strength that God gives us; to wage war against a monstrous tyranny that surpasses any human crime. Here's our course. You ask, what is our goal? I can answer in one word: victory, victory at any cost, victory despite all the horror, victory no matter how long and difficult the path is; because without victory there will be no life. This is important to realize: if the British Empire does not survive, then everything that we fought for will not survive, nothing that humanity has been fighting for for many centuries will survive. But I take on this task with energy and hope. I am confident that our business is not destined to fail. And at this moment I feel the right to insist on everyone’s support, and I call: “Let’s go, let’s go forward as one force.”

Please allow me to begin...

And the only thing you do with pleasure is sit in front of the TV all day, hugging some high-calorie “yummy.” Extra folds appear on your stomach, but you won’t find extra clean socks in the house.

If you don’t pull yourself together in time, getting out of this state without outside help will be very difficult.

What do we have to do? Identify the symptoms of the disease in a timely manner and try to prevent the infection from spreading throughout the body.

While watching the news, I came across an article from Lifehacker.com about what to do when you don’t feel like doing anything. That is, when motivation has disappeared and even in order to, you need a kick. I can’t say that I am in such a situation, but sad thoughts began to visit me more and more often. And this doesn't necessarily apply to work. This may apply to home life, sports, and a once-favorite hobby.

And if you can survive cooled feelings for your favorite hobby and this will not have any particularly unpleasant consequences, then with work and personal life things are much more serious. This is where you really need to take action.

So, there may be several reasons for loss of motivation. And solutions, accordingly, too.

Social exclusion

An experiment was conducted at one of the universities: students were asked to write on pieces of paper the names of those people from the group with whom they would like to work. And then, ignoring what was written, one part was told that they had been chosen, and the second - that no one wanted to deal with them.

As a result, the “outcasts” stopped monitoring their behavior and...

If you restrain yourself and behave according to the rules, then you should receive some kind of reward for this. Social, of course. And if you adapt to those around you, but they still don’t want to deal with you, then why take care of yourself and change your behavior?

The conclusion is obvious and logical. In addition, the hands of students who were supposedly not chosen by anyone were more likely than others to reach for the jar of sweets. Thus they tried to take a bitter pill.

Other studies have shown:

When you feel rejected by the world, you can't solve puzzles, you become difficult to work with, and your motivation level drops to zero.

All you can do is engage in self-destruction: drink, smoke or indulge in sweets. You lose control of yourself and literally lose yourself.

Ignoring physical needs

According to another study, the feeling of lack of motivation may arise due to... Typically, people who are up to their necks in work rarely eat right. Lunches at fast foods or snacks on dry sandwiches and office cookies, a hearty late dinner, and breakfast is skipped by default.

The scientists carried out their experiments in court over a period of 10 months. As a result, before lunch, judges gave suspended sentences to only 20% of the accused, while at the hearings immediately after the lunch break, the percentage of the lucky ones increased to 60%. Before lunch, the judges' blood sugar levels were low, which had an impact on their thought processes and emotional state.

That is, the problem in this case is not mental anguish, but in a banal lack of sugar in the blood. Baking makes you feel better. Does mustard make you sad? ;)

The burden of responsibility for making decisions

Motivation problems can also arise due to the burden of responsibility for making decisions. Moreover, these can be both vital decisions and the most banal “what to buy for dinner.”

Sometimes these little ones household solutions a lot accumulates, and as a result, your nerves lose control and you begin to make irrational decisions.

For example, you start buying things without much need.

This condition is different from physical fatigue. You may experience a lack of mental energy, while your physical condition is fine. And the more decisions (important or simple) you need to make during the day, the more tired you will feel.

How to deal with this?

If you feel like you are being ignored and don't want to deal with you, the best way is to talk to that person (group of people) and find out what exactly is bothering you. There may be a misunderstanding that can be resolved in a matter of seconds. Sometimes the problem is much deeper and needs to be worked on. And sometimes you just come across people with whom you are incompatible, and there is nothing you can do about it.

The only way out is change the environment. In any case, we need to talk. Without asking a question, you will never know the answer. It is better to know that you are truly disliked than to be in the dark and constantly guess.

In the second case, the solution is trivial - just start take care of yourself and eat normally. As soon as you stop skipping breakfast, your mood will improve.

And in the third option you need to try at least once make your own “decision-making schedule for the day” and leave at least two windows in it for relaxation. When you know what you will need to decide and when, it becomes less burdensome.

In any case, you need to look for a way out of the situation. And, of course, everyone has their own.

If I find it difficult to determine whether I want to do something or whether I am satisfied with the work in the form in which it is now, I try to clear my head and at least on the weekends. Sometimes this is quite enough for a surge of energy and optimism.

Sometimes it happens that just starting to tell someone about your work, you suddenly realize that it is really interesting and you really like it. I don’t know if reverse causation works here, but you can’t talk about what’s boring with fire in your eyes. So you're just tired and all you need is just get a little rest.

And finally, the last thing. All people are selfish by nature and, accordingly, I do not know a single person who would not be flattered by praise. Of course, praising yourself isn't all that great. But if I hear sincere praise from a stranger, I understand that I am doing what I like, and at the same time helping others. Therefore, if you see that a person is trying and succeeding, don't skimp on praise. Maybe you are just saving someone from losing motivation.
