TSP-15k oil is a popular transmission fluid actively used for vehicles. Its production history has been known since Soviet times, and the quality criteria, rating, recognition and prevalence have not decreased to today. Its production began from the Kama Automobile Plant with a purposeful purpose to increase the operation of KamAZ transmission units, however, today this lubricant is produced by different manufacturers, and its scope has become much more extensive. In this article, we will study the composition and, its purpose and possible applications, we will talk about the most famous manufacturers of the product, analogues of foreign-made goods.

Transmission oil TSP-15 is made from a sulfur-containing oil product.

Oil composition

Transmission oil TSP-15 belongs to the category of mineral lubricants. The production process is based on the purification, separation and processing of oil with a huge capacity of sulfur-containing ingredients. As a result of processing, a lubricant is obtained based on residual substances with distillate impurities. The main active ingredient of the oil is sulfur, which increases the anti-friction characteristics of the product, which significantly affects its ability to counteract the negative effects of the friction process, which is typical for transmission parts. In addition, component additives are added to the oil to improve the quality of the product, increase anti-corrosion and anti-foam properties.

Specifications

Transmission oil TSP is manufactured in accordance with GOST 23652-79, according to SAE it is marked 80W-90, it is classified as a TM-3 product category and is identified by the code TM-3-18. The grease has the following basic technological characteristics:

  1. According to the production technology, at an operating temperature of one hundred degrees Celsius is fifteen units, while the variable viscosity of TSP-15k oil at a temperature of minus twenty degrees should fluctuate up to seventy-five points.
  2. The density of TSP-15k oil does not exceed nine hundred and ten units.
  3. The operating temperature range varies from twenty degrees with minus to one hundred and thirty plus. At the same time, the lubricant solidifies at a temperature not exceeding twenty degrees below zero, and the temperature criteria for ignition are not less than two hundred and forty degrees.
  4. The scuff coefficient, according to production standards, is at least five hundred and forty units, the tendency to foaming does not exceed three hundred in working condition.
  5. The mass fraction of water should not be determined, only its traces in the composition are possible, and mechanical impurities, according to the standard, do not exceed a hundredth of a percent.

TSP-15k, according to technical criteria, can be attributed to multi-purpose lubricants, it is allowed to use on vehicles in any season. The service life of the oil ranges from thirty-six to seventy-two thousand kilometers, depending on external and internal factors.

Application area

Initially, the range of application of TSP oil was limited to cargo KamAZ vehicles, while it was recommended for use both in the main gear and for filling into transmission units. Today, the TSP-15k lubricant application sector is much more extensive. TSP oil can be used in any type of freight transport with spiral-bevel and cylindrical gears. It is actively used to lubricate units and assemblies of agricultural machinery, construction machines and tractors. The use of lubricant is recommended for all types of transport, the technical documentation for which provides for the filling of liquid class TM-3.

What is hidden in the title?

TSP-15 oil is included in the category of oils with the identifier TM-3. What does its name mean? Based on the technical documentation, the marking "TSP-15k" is interpreted as follows:

  1. The letter "T" is an abbreviation for the word "transmission".
  2. The symbol "C" indicates the manufacture of goods from a sulfur-containing oil product.
  3. The letter "P" states the presence of additives in the product, which ensure the wear resistance of machined structures and guarantee the quality of the oil.
  4. The number 15 indicates the viscosity coefficient of the lubricant.
  5. The symbol "k" stands for vector standardization of products, or rather, the sectoral purpose of oil for technical units of KamAZ trucks.

Previously, when there was one plant producing oil in this category, it was simply called TSP-15k. Today, several large manufacturers of lubricants and a lot of small firms are engaged in its manufacture. To distinguish their oil from similar products, large factories often prescribe the name of the company before labeling. When choosing an oil, the orientation for the buyer should first of all be the marking of the goods, which characterizes its technical features, and then the orientation to the manufacturer.

Competitors and international recognition

Today, Lukoil is considered the most popular manufacturer of TSP-15k oil, however, it is not a monopolist in this field of activity. Lukoil's biggest rivals are Rosneft. Transmission oil of the TSP-15k category is also produced by many small factories, the most active among which are the Zarechye and Necton Sea concerns, as well as numerous regional suppliers.

Among other things, TSP-15 oil, according to API classification, complies with GL-3 standardization, recognized throughout the world. Lubricants are manufactured according to the same standards for trucks overseas manufacturers. The most popular imported analogues of TSP 15 lubricating fluid: Shell, SpiraxEP 90W Mobil, Gear oil EP 90 and others. Availability of analogues on international market speaks of the high competitiveness of the domestic TSP fluid, confirms its demand in the industrial sector. Despite the strict control of the foreign market by its manufacturers, TSP-15 is successfully exported abroad and has its own buyer.

Summing up

TSP oil is recognized not only by the domestic consumer, but is also ranked among those recognized throughout the world. Its qualitative characteristics have proven their effective influence on the performance properties of transmission structures, provided that the products are used in the respective climatic regions. Priority should be given to oils that are sold at points of sale that have certification documents for the goods sold. This is the only way the buyer will be able to protect himself from purchasing low-quality lubricants that do not meet GOST standards, and, accordingly, the declared characteristics.

5.4.1.2. Preparing for the test

The walls and all parts of the box (except gears and bearings) are thoroughly cleaned with a brush, washed with B-70 gasoline and dried. Inspect the gears and bearing for damage, wash them with B-70 gasoline, and then with petroleum ether and dry. Grind the edges of the copper plate, then wash it, dry it and weigh it with an error of not more than 0.0002 g. Install the bearings, gears and the catalyst plate in the box. Close the box and pour 120 cm 3 of the test oil through the inlet tube.

Mark the time and turn on the motor. Set the output power of the generator 128 W and the air flow rate of 1 dm 3 /h. Heat the oil to 155 °C and maintain the temperature with an accuracy of ± 1 °C. After 30 minutes of operation of the machine, an oil sample (2 cm 3) is taken and the kinematic viscosity is determined at 50 ° C (GOST 33). Then oil samples for viscosity determination are taken every 10 hours of machine operation. At the end of the 50-hour test, the machine is stopped, the oil is poured into a clean flask or glass, and the viscosity is determined at 50 ° C and the amount of substances insoluble in petroleum ether and gasoline (separately), according to GOST 6370. Remove the gears and the copper plate, inspect them and describe the condition of the parts and components of the box, bearing gears and the copper plate. Remove deposits from the catalyst plate and weigh it to determine the activity of the oil in relation to copper.

5.4.1.4. Results processing

The increase in oil viscosity as it oxidizes (D v) as a percentage is calculated by the formula

where v- viscosity at 50 °C of oxidized oil, m / s (cSt);

v 0 - viscosity at 50 °C fresh oil, m / s (cSt).

The mass fraction in the oxidized oil of substances insoluble in petroleum ether and gasoline, ( X 0) as a percentage is calculated by the formula

where T - weight of the sample of oxidized oil, g;

T 1 - weight of a bottle with a clean filter, g;

T 2 - weight of weighing bottle with filter and insoluble substances, g.

The test result is taken as the arithmetic mean of two parallel determinations, the allowable discrepancies between which should not exceed 10% relative to the average determination result. The amount of insoluble substances less than 0.5% is estimated as their absence.

5.4.1 - 5.4.1.4. (Revised edition, Rev. No. 5).

(Revised edition, Rev. No. 7).

5.4.2.2. Results processing

Mass fraction of sediment in oxidized oil ( X os) as a percentage is calculated by the formula

One of the Russian lubricants that successfully survived the flow of Western analogues after the collapse of the USSR today is TSP-15k gear oil. This product is produced by several large companies, and the demand for it is still quite high.

There are several reasons for this. Firstly, many factories producing heavy equipment in Russia still make gears and worm gears with small contact loads and relatively low rotational speeds, which makes it possible to effectively use the TSP-15k.

Secondly, the price of this liquid is low. Below we will consider in detail what TSP-15k oil is and where it is used.

Specifications

According to GOSTs, lubricants must pass a large number of different tests. This gives rise to an impressive list of characteristics.

Some of them are very specific and are used in narrow areas. Others are significant and directly determine where this or that lubricant can be used.

Below are some of the significant technical specifications transmission oil TSP-15k:

The characteristics of TSP-15k have now grown in terms of quality relative to the same grease, produced in Soviet times. The reason is the use of a more technologically advanced additive package and a cleaner base.

Scope and analogues

Traditionally, the scope of TSP-15k oil is Russian agricultural machinery and trucks, such as KamAZ, KrAZ and URALs.

Even the index "k" in the name of the lubricant is still popularly associated with the word "KAMAZ". Basically, it is poured into the transmission of those trucks that were produced no later than 10 years ago.

According to GOSTAccording to SAEAccording to GOSTBy API
9 75WTM-1|GL-1
12 80W/85WTM-2GL-2
18 90 TM-3GL-3
34 140 TM-4GL-4
- - TM-5GL-5

More technologically advanced oil is poured into the new transmission units of modern Russian cars. Although some pieces of equipment are still leaving the assembly line, into the bridges and transfer boxes of which it is permissible to fill lubricant from this category.

In technical terms, the use of TSP-15k oils is suitable for their use in any units in which the following conditions are met:

  • the transfer of kinematic energy is carried out by means of gear cylindrical and bevel, worm and hypoid gears;
  • the maximum possible contact load is below 2500 MPa;
  • the maximum operating temperature does not exceed 130 °C.

Fluid for transmission units TSP-15k according to GOST is classified as TM-3-18. When translated into other international standards, this means that the oil is close in performance to the API GL-3 class and to the SAE 85-W80 class.

The American standard GL-3 is as close as possible, but is not a complete analogue of TSP-15k in terms of key parameters.

Popular manufacturers of TSP-15k and reviews of their products

Below is a short list of manufacturers of TSP-15k gear oil:

All of the above oils do not have sharply negative reviews. The main rule in order to use them as safely and efficiently as possible is to replace them in a timely manner and not pour them into unsuitable nodes.
