Suitcase syndrome without a handle. How to break off a relationship that has become obsolete? What gives feedback from throwing away unnecessary things

1. Hopelessly spoiled things. Stained shirts, stretched T-shirts and moth-eaten sweaters don't belong in your closet. Why keep something that you are unlikely to wear again?

2. Clothes that don't fit your size. The reason, I think, is understandable.

3. Old shoes. If she can be made divine, do it. Vapors that cannot be recovered are sent to the trash heap.

4. Shabby underwear. When the bra is no longer able to support the breast properly, it is time to replace it with a new one. It's embarrassing to talk about torn panties - go to the trash can, that's all.

5. Stockings and tights with puffs or holes. Yes, yes, they can still be sewn up and put on under jeans or trousers. Either sew it up at last, or get rid of obviously useless things.

6. Leaky socks. Here is the same thing as in the previous paragraph: it is up to you to sew it up or throw it away, so long as the socks do not continue to lie idle.

7. Jewelry that has lost its former appearance. With jewelry, everything is clear: a broken lock, a torn chain or a loose rhinestone are quite good reasons to throw away your bracelet or necklace. You should not scatter jewelry, it is better to give them to be repaired.

8. Old party dresses. Do you think the chances are good that you will someday wear the outfit you shone in at your high school prom? If the dress is in good condition, try selling it. If not - well, even with such things one must be able to say goodbye.

9. Shabby bags. And wallets there too. Agree, the chance that one day you decide to go out with a worn out bag is zero.

10. Old swimwear and swimming trunks. Say goodbye without regret to all the stretched and faded specimens.

11. Spare buttons for clothes you no longer wear. After all, what are you going to do with a set of completely different buttons?

Cosmetics and personal care

12. Old cosmetics. First, since you haven’t used it before, it’s unlikely that this eyeshadow, lip gloss, or foundation will ever come in handy. Secondly, it has an expiration date. When it comes to an end, it's time to say goodbye to the product.

13. Dried nail polish. Even if you dilute it with a special liquid, it still cannot be compared with fresh. Throw away without agony.

14. Samples of toilet water. Why save them if you don't like the scent?

15. Samples of cosmetics. Either use, or throw away, there is no third option.

16. Old toiletries. A bald toothbrush and a cracked soap dish are not something that should be carefully preserved for many years.

17. Stretched hair ties. Here is good news for connoisseurs of rubber bands-telephone wires: bathe the rubber bands in boiling water, they will be as good as new.

18. Hairpins-invisible. Shake the box with cosmetics or the box where you store the jewelry, you will surely find several hairpins there. Since you do not use them, then there is no point in storing such.

19. Almost out of stock cosmetics and household chemicals. There is a little bit of money left on the bottom, it seems it's time to throw it out, but the toad is strangling. Give the toad a decent fight back and send almost empty bottles and jars to the trash can.

Food and kitchen utensils

20. Spoiled foods. Will you eat them? So no one will be, so feel free to send the old-timers of your refrigerator to the trash can.

21. Old spices and seasonings. Like other products, they do. When it comes to an end, it's time for the spices to leave your kitchen cabinet.

22. Unnecessary circles. Throw away those that are cracked and chipped, and take the whole ones that you do not use for some reason to work. There they will definitely come in handy.

23. Old scouring pads. By the way, they should be changed regularly, and this should be done before the sponge starts to smell.

24. Pots and pans with scratched non-stick coating. What's the point of this coating when only one name remains from it?

25. Empty cans and jars. Why store them at all is unclear. Apparently, in the hope that someday all this will come in handy. Let's be honest, did it come in handy at least once? If not, goodbye, jars!

26. Kitchen utensils you don't use. Give absolutely new to friends, throw out the used one.

27. Food containers that you do not use. And at the same time those that have lost their former appearance - the lid is cracked, for example.

28. Assorted dishes. Once upon a time there was a couple of tea, then the cup broke, and the saucer survived - or vice versa. It seems okay, but using such dishes is not very pleasant. So it's time to send her to rest.

29. Broken kitchen utensils. And again: you can use them, but not very pleasant. So why store it?

Housing

30. Old towels with stains or holes. These are downright unpleasant to dry off, so throw them away without hesitation.

31. Well-worn bedding. If it just faded, it’s still all right, but torn sheets and duvet covers are a direct road to the dump.

32. Shabby rugs from the bathroom and hallway. Their life was not easy anyway, why prolong the suffering?

33. Old pillows. They are not as plump and soft as they used to be.

34. Extra hangers. Leave as much as needed to hang your clothes and the rest in the trash.

35. Unnecessary flower vases. Transfer, sell or dispose of them in any other way.

36. Trinkets. The figurine of a pig, presented to you on the occasion of the coming of the year of this animal, is appropriate once every 12 years. Let the pig free, do not torture. Travel souvenirs and fridge magnets will be a great company for her.

37. Christmas decorations that are not good news. A garland where several bulbs are off, a glass ball that instead of a factory fixture is held on a cleverly curved wire - don't turn the tree into an exhibition of junk.

38. Broken electronics and home appliances. If you still haven't fixed it, then you don't really need it.

39. Spare parts for furniture. Collect all those little pieces and screws that seem to multiply by fission and send them straight to the trash can.

Waste paper

40. Old checks and bills. Once the warranty period has expired, it means that it makes no sense to save the check. But receipts for utility bills should be kept at a minimum.

41. School and university textbooks. You are unlikely to need them. Give them to the library, so the books will be at least some benefit. And you can throw out the notes with a clear conscience.

42. Cards and invitations to weddings. If they are dear to you as a memory, leave them, but it makes no sense to keep a stack of postcards with duty wishes for happiness and health.

43. Newspapers and magazines. Including those that you wrote out at school for foreign language lessons. You never know, suddenly you still keep them.

44. Discount cards for stores you don't go to. It is logical: if you don’t go, you don’t use cards either.

45. Discount coupons that have expired. They won't give you a discount anyway.

46. \u200b\u200bJunk from the mailbox. Wonderful product catalogs, discount flyers from your nearest store, and similar printed matter should be kept where it belongs: in the trash can.

47. Instructions for assembling furniture. It is unlikely that you regularly disassemble and reassemble a wardrobe or chest of drawers.

48. Guides. Why save up paper brochures when you can use electronic versions of guides?

49. Children's drawings. Whether it's your creations or your children's drawings, it's hard to part with it. Pull yourself together and leave only those that you like the most.

50. Duplicate photographs. In case you do not trust cloud storage and prefer to store printed images in photo albums. And with the clouds you are in vain, they are much more convenient.

51. Old diaries. Since they lie dead weight with you, throw them out already - and that's the end of it.

Various little things

52. Boxes from household appliances. The same ones that are kept by thrifty citizens on cabinets. When the warranty period ends, the boxes should be sent to the trash can.

53. Expired medicines. It is unlikely that any comments are needed here.

54. Old mobile phones. Is your nostalgia for the bygone times strong enough to still keep those that are unlikely to ever turn on?

55. Unnecessary smartphone accessories. Sooner or later, you still have to get rid of them, so why put it off until later?

56. Dried flowers. Cast away sentimentality and throw away those dustbags.

57. Old stationery. Stickers, dry markers and pens, folders for papers, and all that.

58. The wires are not known from what. Everything is simple here: if you know exactly what this cable is for, and at least sometimes use it for its intended purpose, let it live. The rest should disappear from your home.

59. Old CDs and DVDs. Music that you no longer listen to, computer programs that you will hardly ever use, movies that you have watched more than once ... Why do you need all this?

60. Souvenirs with promotions. Let's say they handed you a T-shirt with the logo of a milk producer flaunting across your chest. Will you wear it? No, really?

61. Gifts that you do not use. Or the ones you just don't like. Give them to people who will appreciate the present.

62. Used batteries. Hand them over for recycling, for sure there is a collection point for batteries and accumulators in your city.

63. Toys for animals. Of course, those to which your pet is indifferent. It is unlikely that he will ever change his mind and decide that a mouse on wheels or a squeaking rubber chicken is the dream of his life.

64. Board games lacking in detail. You can't really play with them.

65. Crumpled bows and ribbons for gift wrapping. Since they have lost their former appearance, then it is not worth decorating a gift with them.

66. Small coins. However, you can not throw them away, but put them in a piggy bank. You will get a decent amount - you can exchange it at the bank.

Order in the house is order in the head, so make it a rule to arrange this cleaning from time to time. By the way, what would you add to this list?

Plyushkin of the XXI century

You bought a new TV, but the old one is not needed, and the hand does not rise - is it a familiar situation? Cluttered balconies with one ski, rusty sledges, an inoperative refrigerator and a bag of old stuffed toys until recently were an indispensable part of an average Soviet apartment. However, even today, when the XXI century is in the yard, little has changed.

I'm a real plushkin, - says the mother of two children Svetlana. “I can't throw anything away, and I always have an explanation ready. I left the children's toys for future grandchildren, I can easily walk at home in this old T-shirt, and jeans, which I haven’t fit in for five years, will definitely come in handy: after all, I’ll lose weight someday! As a result, the number of things in my apartment is multiplying, and their deposits have long gone beyond the balcony and pantry. All the cabinets are tightly packed, there is not a single free corner in the apartment, but I still practically do not throw anything away. I know from experience: sooner or later I will definitely need each of these things. It cannot be otherwise - after all, I paid money for them!

A poll conducted by "Komsomolskaya Pravda" showed that the overwhelming majority of our readers agree with Svetlana to one degree or another. 90 percent of us keep things in the bins that we will never need, and every third admits that he does not know how to part with old things at all - it's a pity to throw out absolutely everything!

History items

Indeed, getting rid of old things is not so easy. An old camera (it still works!), Unfashionable boots (but they are almost new, and fashion always comes back), school notebooks and a child's diaries (they take up very little space, but he had such a cute handwriting!) - with all these things parting is almost impossible.

The so-called things-memories stand apart here. Old postcards and letters, a New Year's costume that helped win first place in the competition, a trinket brought from the first foreign trip, a plush toy presented by the first fan - every tenth respondent regrets to part with these and similar things.

To understand attachment to objects that personify memories, of course, is possible. But, on the other hand, not a single thing in our life came out of nowhere, which means that each of them has a more or less interesting, but still history. So now, don't throw anything away at all?

Out of sight, out of mind!

The opinion that deposits of old things block access to everything new in our life is quite popular. And practice has confirmed more than once: new events, new people and new things come into our lives only when a place is made available for them. That is, if your entire living space is littered with heaps of unnecessary junk, then nothing new will shine for you!

This simple truth is well known to few Ukrainians. Only every tenth respondent admitted that he can easily part with any unnecessary items that have served their time. What can you do to join this 10 percent?

There is an unspoken rule among Europeans: it is better to get rid of things that have never been used during the year. We, of course, have not yet reached the European standard of living, so we will double the "trial period".

So, select the things that you have never needed in two years. These can be old sweaters, T-shirts and jeans, frayed glossy magazines, boxes you will need someday, and more. Get rid of frank trash right away. Then select the things that can be applied using our tips (see Tips "KP").

In an amicable way, it is better to throw out the rest immediately, but if your hand does not rise, put these leftovers in bags and boxes, attach the inventory of the things there to the packages and put them in the pantry, in the attic, mezzanine or in the far corner of the cabinet. After a year, return to these boxes, but do not open them, but determine the future fate of old things according to the inventory. Psychologists assure: it is much easier to throw away a thing if you consider it. By the way, when making a decision, remember that now you have already easily lived without these things for three whole years!

TIPS "KP"

Getting rid of the past

1 The easiest and most obvious way is to take things to the country. This, of course, is not a cardinal deliverance, but you will still free the apartment.

2 You can give things to people who need them, and finding them is easy. For example, my neighbor once complained to the postman that she had a lot of unnecessary clothes - all the closets were full. She gladly agreed to transport these things to relatives in the village. Now the neighbor has a double benefit: it has become easier to breathe in the apartment, and homemade eggs, milk and cottage cheese periodically appear in the refrigerator as a token of gratitude.

3 You can put all the things that are stored "just in case" in the case. On specialized sites (by the way, one of them is called Plyushkin's site) you will be given various tips on how to use leftover yarn, scraps of fabric, cream jars, out-of-fashion jewelry, shells brought from the sea and much more from that, that the hand never went up to throw it away.

4 You can try to sell unnecessary furniture, household appliances, old computers and telephones, children's clothes through websites of used things. By the way, according to the conclusion made by the analysts of the free classifieds portal Slando, the most demanded second-hand goods among Ukrainians at the end of 2012 were used sofas, bicycles and iPhones.

THE OPINION OF THE PSYCHOLOGIST

Melancholic people do not know the value of property, and choleric people happily make room for everything new

The attitude to old things, as well as many other things, is determined by personal qualities, which, in turn, largely depend on temperament, - explains psychologist Victoria Egorova. - The easiest way to part with the past is sanguine people - both with old attachments and old things. Melancholic people do not feel any special regrets either: due to their general "detachment" they are not inclined to notice the material value of things and keep only objects dear to their hearts. The most difficult thing is "to part with the past" for phlegmatic people. They find a thousand reasons not to throw anything away: because they got used to it, because a lot of money was paid, because it can still be useful, because they were especially happy in this particular blouse. But sometimes they still have enough common sense to do a general cleaning and get rid of something. The main initiators of active release are choleric people. Everything is possible here: both the unrestrained gifting of relatives and neighbors, and simply throwing away in order to quickly buy a new one.

Almost everyone has some kind of thing at home that has been kept idle for years.
Whether it's a TV stand, although the TV itself is hanging on the wall, or part of a drywall sheet waiting for the next repair.
I understand that many have grown up in an era of scarcity and cannot afford to throw away a good slat or the remains of parquet, but I still propose to reconsider their view of stored things.

Everything you need, everything good, everything will come in handy.

My relatives have everything littered with some necessary things.
For example, in a private house, tiles, slate, boards, pipes, rusty motors from victory, wire are stored for years. It does not just lie, it occupies, where there could well be a children's area or a barbecue corner with a gazebo. And in a 2-room apartment, another relative has an old drywall left over from the renovation of the living room, a sash from a discarded cabinet, a 100-liter tank !! Just standing in the closet. Metal profile, wires. All this rubbish takes up useful space. There is nowhere to put a dishwasher, but half of the loggia is littered with insulation.

All persuasions, in the style: "If necessary, you can buy everything" are greeted with hostility, arguing that there is no need to throw out unnecessary things and just about all this may come in handy!
And my relatives have lived like this for decades! And they tried to infect me with this: "Don't throw the old refrigerator away. Don't sell the piano, even if it's worth it, the accordion is good German, the aquarium can be useful to your niece, the YOUTH skis are also good, the markers are also good (30 years for lunch), etc."

My philosophy

A relative has 6 bags of gypsum plaster in his pantry. In monetary terms, this is about 1600 rubles. They have been lying for 6 years. and the same amount will lie. And his wife's wife does not know where to put the children's bike.
And I ask the head of the family:
Imagine that a neighbor knocked on your door and said: can I keep half a cube of insulation and a couple of bags of cement with you? I will pay you 1,500 rubles for this for 5 years of storage. Would you agree?
No answer.

Then I asked myself this question - and on the same day I called all my acquaintances with a proposal to take away everything that I did not need until the end of the day. Or I'll throw it away.

They immediately found a new owner of the piano, took away the old hallway, the old TV, carpets (he gave everything for free).

And when I got an empty apartment, I started renovating it.
After 2 months I drove into a clean dwelling, where all the shelves are empty, all the lockers are clean, nothing is lying around anywhere.
