Job search strategy and tactics. Job search methods: modern methods, pros and cons of methods, efficiency. Good. And what are the key mistakes applicants have at the stage of preparing a resume?

Job search tactics are the nature of your actions in solving this issue taking into account the influence of various circumstances:

If you have been out of work for a long time (more than six months), then it is more likely that the tactics of job search should be set so that the main goal will be to get a job in general and with good wages in particular. At the same time, you should not be scrupulous about your qualifications, work experience and others professional qualities, which may not be taken into account when determining your level wages or positions. On the contrary, being unemployed, one should constantly remember the axiom where the factor of time determines everything and everyone, and not our desires and moods. It is he who, just: destroys the continuity of experience and calls into question professional competence... Therefore, the tactics of finding a job should proceed from the real state of your affairs. Therefore, in the beginning - employment as such, and after adaptation to a new workplace, it will be possible to substantively understand your prospects in this organization.

If you work in one organization and want to move to work in another organization. Of course, here you should show maximum attention to your prospects. The basic rule is "to move from organization to organization, you should prepare in advance, and not at the last moment, when it comes down to it." In this regard, it is advisable not so much to independently analyze information on the labor market, but to choose a certain recruiting agency (and more than one), that is, an organization that will professionally begin to address this issue. Thus, staging this work will allow you to: cover a wide range of proposals from employers, navigate the working conditions in various organizations in your specialty and compare market offers with your. This approach will optimize your search suggestions and achieve clear or positive results.

If you have not worked until now and decided to get a job. First, you need to clarify your position: it is one thing if you have just graduated educational institution; it's another matter if you immediately found yourself in maternity leave and it didn't work out; third, if life did not work out in a timely manner, and the present situation forces this; fourth, if you become or become disabled. Naturally, these options can "intertwine". To understand your prospects here, you should start by carefully reviewing all your official documents: about education, about continuing education courses, various certificates, and so on. At the same time, in one direction, you should postpone what in your opinion (and for this, check the labor market information) is still relevant, and in the other direction, what in your opinion is outdated or no longer interesting to you. If at least one official document falls under the relevance, then do not mope, and act through a recruiting agency, as well as on your own. If there is a failure with the current documents, then focus on self-employment and take on any job, not even in your specialty. Because, in market conditions, one should first decide on the financial situation, and then only think about resolving the situation in principle. Therefore, especially for students is topical receipt work experience in the specialty during the period of internship, which should be properly documented in accordance with applicable law. Having even a little practical experience (of several months) will fundamentally distinguish you from your colleagues in your studies or in a similar position, which will increase your chances of finding suitable working conditions for you.

If you want to improve your official position in the same organization, that is, to advance in the position, first of all, you should strengthen the rear and relations with colleagues and immediate supervisors (managers) of divisions (departments, workshops) of the organization. At the same time, also initially, it is advisable to clarify for yourself what is more acceptable for you - the official position of a manager (manager) or a leading specialist, possibly with an equal salary, but also with a greater production load. If you decide to take on a higher position, worry in advance about your successor, who will definitely consult with you, and become your own in advance for leaders of a similar level of management in the organization so that they do not expect any unpredictable surprises from you. If you nevertheless decided to stay in your previous position, then try to make the largest possible number of the organization's staff know about it and, as compensation, achieve the maximum official salary and other incentive payments. This will be positively received by your colleagues and colleagues, which will seriously enhance your business reputation.

The plan for finding a job in an organization can be represented as specific stages or stages of search work:

Indicate the beginning of the search, where to formulate the main tasks to achieve the goal.

To start the search, taking into account the peculiarities of the action of various factors of the labor market.

Provide options and schemes for job search, including - features of searching through the Internet, as well as independently, through an order or in combination.

Decide how to maintain personal safety while searching.

Determine control over the work carried out and an operational assessment of its results.

7.3. Organization of job search

Organization of job search includes not only determining the places where you can find an acceptable job option, but also the methods and ways with which you can carry out this process, choosing acceptable options, considering them from different angles, taking into account the time factor. This will allow you to systematize your actions in this direction, take into account the requirements and desires in accordance with priorities and determine a chain of successive events.

For example: salary level, nature of work, service, relationships. Or else: the nature of the work, the level of wages, relationships and service. Or: the position of the organization, the level of wages, attitude and service, the nature of the work.

Thus, depending on the priority variant, a proper job search is organized. At the same time, it is important to use the necessary techniques and methods to bring the search to a successful result.

In the program "YOUR WORK" chief Editor Gleb Mordovchenko and the head of the recruiting agency for job seekers “IM Consulting” Alexandra Grak discussed what mistakes job seekers make when looking for a job. Read about the complexities of writing a resume and passing an interview, as well as about the various strategies and channels for finding a job, read in this issue.

- Tell me, what are the key, most important and most terrible fatal mistakes people make when trying to get a job?

First of all, I would simply divide the errors into several stages - as they arise. The first is the lack of a clear understanding of their positioning in the labor market. When we go to look for a job, but we do not understand our value to the market. This is exactly the story when "I am looking for a job, just to find some kind of job." Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way now. It will take much longer than knowing exactly what we want.

The second is, accordingly, the absence of a search strategy. It looks something like this: we do everything and everywhere, but these actions do not lead us to any result. And third - when we are already mistaken in some small things: we are not preparing for an interview, we are not disclosing information in a resume. This is already a stage of implementation.

- Can you give a few examples from life, how it happens in reality?

In reality: for example, when a candidate says that he wants to find a job, but he does not know who he wants to work, what this job might look like, and what, in principle, he is ready to do to find a job. But at the same time, he sends out an insane amount of responses to all vacancies: from the chief accountant to the ballerina. Naturally, he is not taken anywhere.

- Good. It turns out that you need to do in advance and think about finding a job before you wrote a letter of resignation to the CEO. Is it so?

This is true. And one of the most probably correct and competent strategies is to think about looking for a job before you quit. And in general, it is not very good to burn bridges like that, to part with the company, maybe not on the most positive note.

Of course, the majority of job seekers enter the labor market while still being employed. And this allows them to comfortably part with their current employer: to warn in advance, to hand over cases, to receive, perhaps, some recommendation from the employer, to maintain good relations and then enter the market - either in search or to a new employer. This is what works well. If we just abruptly quit our job and then started looking for a new one, then this strategy is usually a failure.

- Then let's talk about what, in principle, should be in general view job search strategy.

The overall job search strategy starts with thinking about who we want to work for, where we want to work and how we want to do it. After that, understanding who our employer is, we select the channels that we will use: job search sites, recruitment agencies, social networks... That is, how are we going to look for such a job. And depending on which channels we use, we already need to prepare the tools. For example, the same resume.

- Good. What are the key mistakes applicants make at the stage of preparing a resume?

There are actually quite a few mistakes at the stage of preparing a resume. First of all, this is the desire to put as much information as possible there. Then we get a huge resume that HR does not read. They just don't read. This summary is over two pages long.
Accordingly, the second option is a very short summary. The opposite story. This is when a couple of lines are given from the series "I worked as a chief accountant from and to - completely led everything, was responsible for everything." No specifics. It doesn't work now either. Lack of just contact information can be a fatal mistake. That is, they will not be able to contact you, no matter how cool the resume is.

Well, a resume is such a complicated thing that ... It turns out that not everyone understands what it should be. And even fewer people understand how to do it correctly. What are the ways, tools, opportunities for writing a resume: maybe there are templates, maybe there are specialists who know how to do it better? Tell me what is the best way.

Of course, there is a wealth of information on the Internet regarding resumes. This is partly a good thing, because there is really a lot of it. But in order to collect it, "digest" and get something really working out of it, it will take a lot of time.
You can use a template: for example, go to the same hh.ru and fill out a resume in the format that the site offers. You can turn to specialists: for example, career consultants. We at the agency help with resume writing. And here it is just important to take into account the peculiarities of each specific applicant. If we are just talking about a certain template standard that you found on the Internet - it is general, it will not give you a structure that suits you better, it will not offer you a volume that will most fully reveal your experience in a resume. If we are talking about such point work, then, of course, we must always take into account the individual characteristics of the experience.

- Good. The resume is ready, HR has read it, looked at it and even approved it. You have been called for an interview. Should we prepare for it?

We need to prepare for it. And yes, a resume is definitely the road to interviews. An important stage, but the interview - this is where the most interesting part begins, because here we come face to face with the employer. And we need to prepare, because, again, there are cases when an applicant comes for an interview and does not have information about the company, does not fully understand the vacancy. This interview is a failure. Therefore, preparation is half the battle.

- And what should be the preparation? I am Vasya, I am going for an interview at the Romashka LLC company. What is important for me to find out exactly, to prepare so that at least I could pass this interview well?

First of all, you need to understand what kind of company, what is accepted there, what are the norms there. And everything that concerns your work: if you are engaged in sales, then what are they selling, what place they occupy on the market, what is the specificity of the product. That is, you need to go, of course, ready from the point of view of professional content in the first place and knowledge about the company.

Further, we prepare already from the point of view of culture, that is, we can predict a little how the interview will go if we know what it is. corporate culture companies. Most often, this information can be found on the website or in social networks (now this is very important, many companies are running) and see the communication style, how what is happening. And slightly, maybe, somehow adjust your presentation style at the interview.

- That is, if you go to an interview at the Black Star company to Timati, do not go in a tie and suit - it is accepted differently there. Well, the interview is underway, and there is such an important stage (as far as I know, very key in the West) - these are recommendations. Here in Russia, is it important, is it accepted, is it necessary to prepare them for the applicant?

Recommendations are definitely important. And the employer starts checking the recommendations, as a rule, after the initial interview, that is, either after the second interview, between some stages, maybe.

What is important here: our task as an applicant is to prepare, to warn those who will give us recommendations that we are looking for work. If it was a long time ago, when we worked with these people, then remind: when we worked, by whom we worked, how successfully. That is, to suggest, maybe a little, what will be correct to convey to those who will call. If there is an opportunity to take any written recommendations upon dismissal, this should definitely be done. And you can just collect it as a kind of piggy bank to show at the interview.

- Is there anything else worth taking with you? A portfolio, maybe some diplomas, something that confirms the qualifications. Or is it a line on your resume and nothing more?

Of course, it depends on the field of activity. If you can show something (in design it can be a portfolio), then it should be done. For other specialties, this is not so important. Diplomas, work book, all certificates can be left at home, they will take your word for it.

- Some employers (including myself) like to ask the applicant at the interview to briefly tell about themselves. How much do you need to prepare such a mini-thing about who you are, what you can do and how important you are for the employer? How critical is it, how important is it?

Good question. And you said very rightly: indeed, employers expect to hear such short presentation or a story about yourself. Most often, at an interview, this is the very beginning of a meeting, when HR or an employer's representative asks you to tell a little about yourself in order to get to know you.

Here is the main mistake (we are talking about them today) - this is again some kind of redundant presentation. And it happens that the candidate either begins to retell the resume, or to talk in great detail about his experience - he tells one by one about all the places of work, what he did there, and this stretches for 20-30 minutes. Attention was lost literally in the second minute. That is, he seems to have answered all possible questions, but there was no dialogue or conversation. And this, of course, is also not a winning strategy, so preparing a presentation for literally one and a half to two minutes includes the most basic aspects - about your qualifications, maybe about education, why you are looking for a job, what attracted you in this particular vacancy ... This is what disposes the employer for such positive communication already at the interview.

Good. Well, the interview went plus or minus successfully, and the applicant and the employer move on to the most interesting part - to the bidding, to negotiations on the cost. Here the question is: how can a job seeker correctly assess himself in the labor market - not to cheapen himself and not become on a par with labor migrants, but also not to assign himself a salary that no one will ever give him or take to work? How to evaluate yourself correctly?

It's a good question, because it is quite difficult to assess yourself correctly in the current labor market, simply because there is a very large spread in wages, and the spread is many times over. It really is. First of all, what we recommend: look at the overall job market. Not only the vacancy where you go for an interview, but in general - that in this position it is assumed how many employers offer such specialists. This is the first step.

Then we go to the market of job seekers (the same hh.ru will help us), we can see what our competitors want. Because one thing is our expectations, and another thing is that we have to fit into the market not only from the side of the proposals of competitors. It is important for us to understand both sides of what is happening there. Therefore, we can see what competitors want.
Well, and such a very small life hack: if we go to an interview for a specific vacancy and understand that the specialist in whose place we are being interviewed has recently left, then we can try to find his resume in the public domain, see how much money he wants ...

- Good. A very important question, we touched on it in one of our programs about leaders: how important is networking? That is, significance in the media space, behavior in social networks, the ability to make some kind of connections - how much is it necessary for an ordinary, ordinary applicant, and what mistakes do they make in this area?

Let's start with mistakes. The main mistake is that, as a rule, networking is not used. And this is a really great way to tell the world about yourself, to your friends that you are looking for a job and what exactly you are doing now, what you are doing, what you can be of help.

And, again, this is one of such stereotypes that networking works only at the top management level and only for executives. Not this way. If you are looking for a job, absolutely any job - office, line, you studied with someone, went to some courses with someone, attended some events, your former colleagues, work colleagues. You can also tell them about it, and it is quite possible that they know someone, have heard or seen something. Therefore, networking also works great in this case.

- A resulting question: does an ordinary, ordinary job seeker need a personal brand in this case?

A brand is probably not needed by an ordinary applicant in this understanding of a global brand. But take care, for example, of your reputation on social networks - please. Because many HR social networks are watching. Therefore, it is desirable that they be sharpened for job search. Of course, you should not post only professional information there, but you need to remove something compromising.

- Well, God bless them, with the accounts of the applicants themselves. Can social networks help in finding a job, in finding vacancies? Does it work or does it all not matter, and you need to go where vacancies will be posted?

Well, vacancies can be posted on social networks. In general, many companies use socially oriented policies, go where the people are, where the job seekers are, thus reducing personnel costs, including for themselves. That is, it is also beneficial for the employer - to go to social networks to people. And there are a lot of specialized groups, we can use the same Facebook, where you can get acquainted with vacancies, you can post your resume. Therefore, this channel also works.

- That is, forgetting about him would be a mistake.

It will be a mistake. Another thing is that it is not suitable for everyone. For example, looking for a job as a builder or accountant on Facebook will not be so successful. If we work in the IT market, PR, marketing - everything that is somehow connected with the Internet, that's first of all there.

- Okay, we talked about the mistakes that applicants make. Let's say a few tips, a few life hacks that can make life easier when looking for a job.

First of all, in short, we formulate our value; write a short resume up to one and a half to two pages; tell all friends and acquaintances that we are in search; place your resume on hh.ru as a job search site; preparing for an interview; know our employer and go to an interview with positive attitudeconfident that we will be taken.

Respectfully,

Shevchuk Denis Alexandrovich

The purpose of your job search is, first of all, to find such working conditions that would meet your expectations. In order for this to take place, it is necessary, as accurately as possible, to determine those components of the working conditions, its main and secondary parts, the achievement of which, in your understanding, is such a goal of the job search process. Therefore, only when the goal is formulated, you can proceed to its practical implementation. In this regard, the question should be asked - "why"? To which to give a reasoned answer. Why do I need it? !! To maintain life - this is understandable, but then why? For food, for freedom, for communication, for influence and power, for what ?! By answering this question, you will be able to more clearly imagine where you should start in your job search, those priorities that are the main and decisive ones for you when choosing a new job in the organization.

As a result, taking into account your life and professional experience, reflections on this matter will detail your interest in working conditions, building it into a specific system of your views. From which it will further be clear what is a priority for you - the level of salary, the position of the organization in the market, the position held or the work performed, the relationship in the team or relationship with the immediate manager, the presence or absence of creativity in the work or other similar options.

When looking for a job, it is advisable to conduct an assessment of the life situation, which will allow you to more clearly define your requirements for working conditions, the abbreviated version of which boils down to answering the following questions:

Do I have an idea about the desired job or not;

Why is this my job, and not someone else's, explain to yourself;

Why do I need it, to achieve what goals;

What can I get from such work, what I will succeed in, what it will help me in;

Is it worth spending so much time looking for it;

Is it realistic to get such a job in this particular organization or not;

Is it worth it to suffer so much about this or is it better to go to work there that the first of the proposals will turn up at hand;

Where to start in looking for a job if it became clear what I needed in such a job.

You should start with drawing up a real - Job search plan, which should be simultaneously edited for the tactics of job search. Because in what capacity you are: you work and want to move to a better position in the same organization; are working and want to go to the best place work in another organization; you work outside the staff of the organization and want to move to its state; unemployed and with significant continuous experience; in what specialty do you want to get a job, in a new one or in an old, well-known one; whether it is done or not. It is important to take into account these factors, as well as those that actually take place, in order to clear the Job Search Plan from real waste of time, stress and conflicts, to bring it closer to those options that can really take place.

7.1. Job search tactics

The manager is a hired manager, the boss!

If you have no subordinates, you are not a manager,

but a maximum of a specialist!

(Denis Shevchuk) (www.deniskredit.ru)

Job search tactics are the nature of your actions in solving this issue, taking into account the influence of various circumstances:

If you have been out of work for a long time (more than six months), then it is more likely that the tactics of finding a job should be set so that the main goal will be to get a job in general and with good wages in particular. At the same time, you should not be scrupulous about your qualifications, work experience and other professional qualities, which may not be taken into account when determining your salary level or position. On the contrary, being unemployed, one should constantly remember the axiom where the factor of time determines everything and everyone, and not our desires and moods. It is he who, just: destroys the continuity of experience and casts doubt on professional competence.

The basic rule is "to move from organization to organization, you should prepare in advance, and not at the last moment, when it comes down to it." In this regard, it is advisable not so much to independently analyze information on the labor market, but to choose a certain recruiting agency (and more than one) for yourself, that is, an organization that will professionally begin to address this issue. Thus, setting up this work will allow you to: cover a wide range of offers from employers, navigate the working conditions in various organizations in your specialty and compare market offers with yours. This approach will optimize your search options and produce clear or positive results.

If you have not worked until now and decided to get a job. First, you need to clarify your position: it is one thing if you have just graduated from an educational institution; it is another matter if you immediately found yourself on maternity leave after studying and did not manage to work; third, if life did not work out in a timely manner, and the present situation forces this; fourth, if you become or become disabled. Therefore, especially for students, it is relevant to obtain work experience in their specialty during the period of internship, which should be properly documented in accordance with current legislation.

7.2. Start your job search

It is noticed that many people do not know the basic rules of the Russian language, for example:

1. The number of quotes should always be even, like parentheses in mathematics.

Nearby quotes can be of two types - "..." and "..." (paws and herringbones).

Correct: "words" words "or" words "words" "

Incorrect: "words" and "words" words

These errors are even in the names of large companies and in some articles and books.

2. If there is information in parentheses at the end of a sentence, a full stop is placed after the parentheses, not before the parentheses, and inside before the closing parenthesis.

That's right: words (words).

Wrong: words. (the words.)

The beginning of the job search is associated, first of all, with the determination of the main priorities among the conditions of employment, to the achievement of which, as to specific tasks, your actions will be focused. Before formulating such priorities, all your requirements for conditions future work it is better to present in the form of several groups of indicators, which will allow a systematic and practical approach to solving this life problem.

7.4. Job search forms

There are active and passive forms of job search. The active form assumes the direct participation of the customer in finding a job for himself through independent consideration of various options, through the coordination of such a search between employment centers based on the terms of his order, through determining the order of viewing possible options and comparing them. The passive form assumes making a final decision, based on the data of any employment center, where the order was sent with the terms of job search. Here, active work one of the employment centers is directly involved, and the customer only makes the final decision and does not participate in the direct search. Targeted job search involves options that are determined by the customer in specific areas in the industry or region, by specialty or by official position... An arbitrary job search involves unsystematic work, from time to time, with interruptions and again with a short search, which is not clearly planned and not regular.

7.5. Job search options:

Independent, when the search for work is carried out directly by you, independently, based on information from the media, including the Internet, from relatives or friends, as well as as a result of a coincidence.

Custom, when a job search is carried out by any employment center on commercial basis according to the conditions specified by the customer.

Combined, when the search for a job is carried out in parallel in two directions, both independently and on the basis of an order with the involvement of any employment center. This approach significantly speeds up the solution of this issue and allows you to choose the most acceptable option through comparison.

7.6. Working conditions

Working conditions serve as an object special attention, both on the part of the employer and on the part of the employed (candidate for a job). Between these parties there is a business discussion of the future working conditions, which they are trying to build in a certain sequence, than to confirm their priority or significant positions for themselves. Here, often there are: the level of wages for an established position, the complexity of the work performed, the level of qualifications of a specialist to perform a specific job, the level of established (direct) and necessary additional remuneration, actual work time, relationships in the team and between subordinates and their immediate supervisors, quality and the management style of management in the organization. The combination of such priorities allows us to speak about the individual views of any specialist or manager. In the process of discussing working conditions, priorities often change places, which reflects a certain compromise between the employer and the candidate for the job. It is good when such working conditions are based on argumentation, which allows them to be presented as a kind of value system for both the employer and the candidate for a job. The presence of such a system of values \u200b\u200bmeans, first of all, the conscious nature of decision-making, and not a tribute to fashion, imitation or the like, which characterizes the business independence of the candidate for work, his confidence and the presence of professional experience in his actions.
