Blanks from polymer clay flowers. DIY polymer clay jewelry - projects for beginners. Cold porcelain and its analogues - self-hardening polymer clays

Expensive knick-knacks from the brand boutique are considered to be beautiful products themselves. They can be purchased directly on site or ordered online if desired. However, it is much more pleasant and safer to make earrings, beads, bracelets, and other jewelry with your own hands. At the same time, everyone chooses the manufacturing method, as well as the materials for creativity themselves, according to their taste. For example, it can be polymer clay flowers. We offer a master class on their manufacture in this article.

How to make flower petals: tools

In order to learn how to make crafts from polymer clay, you need to start with the smallest and simplest. For example, you can first make flower petals, and later decide what to construct from them later. To make petals, we need the following materials and tools:

  • 2-3 tubes with multi-colored soft clay (for example, polymer clay for modeling flowers - FIMO soft is suitable);
  • nail scissors;
  • one green leaf of a real plant (for example, a rose leaf will do);
  • standard wooden photo frame;
  • colored acrylic paint and a brush for it;
  • a jar of plain water;
  • toothpick and skewer;
  • thin surgical gloves;
  • superglue or flower glue with a gun.

Clay flower petals: the manufacturing process

At the first stage, take acrylic paint of any color (if desired, you can mix several colors), dilute with water and use a brush to apply to the photo frame. It is advisable to apply paint evenly and around the entire perimeter of the frame. A little later, we will tell you how to make roses from polymer clay.

Next, squeeze clay of the same color, for example, blue, out of the tube onto a flat surface and use a special rolling pin to roll it into a thin pancake. Then take another clay, blue, make a small circle and place it on top of the previous one. And finally, take the third tube - with yellow clay, roll up a small ball, flatten it into a flat circle and place on top of the blue one.

Next, you need to take a toothpick and stretch the color palette with it, starting from its yellow middle to the very edge. Then roll out the resulting uniform shape with a rolling pin and use scissors to cut out the circle, carefully trimming its corners. We will talk about how to make flowers from polymer clay a little later.

Take each of the resulting circles and lean against a leaf of a living plant. Press it down and smooth it gently around the edges. Detach from the sheet and give a slightly rounded shape. Finally, place this composition in the oven along with the frame. In this case, pay attention to the instructions, which indicate the time during which the product must be in the oven until ready. Then glue the resulting petals to the frame. The craft is ready.

Polymer clay flowers: master class

If you have already learned how to make clay petals, it's time to start making flowers. To do this, you need to prepare several tubes of polymer clay, for example, choose blue, blue, gray, green colors. You also need to prepare a sharp knife for work, three molds (in the form of a circle, four-leafed and six-leafed flower), a discount card and a rolling pin.

Next, we take the dark and light color of the clay and roll them out with a roller or rolling pin into thin pancakes. Then we turn the light pancake into a tube, seal the edges, and on top of it we put another pancake made of darker clay and also wrap it in "sausage". So far, little is noticeable, but this is exactly what the future flowers from polymer clay are. It is easy to make them with your own hands, if you follow our advice.

We squeeze the resulting product to a flatter shape and cut the large figure into 5-7 smaller ones. We also roll "sausages" out of them and put them on top of each other so that we get a flower on the outside.

At the next stage, we take five more types of clay and roll them out with a rolling pin until layers of minimum thickness are obtained. The following colors are suitable, laid out in this order: one green, one blue, two cyan and one dark color. Then we cut this "stack" of flat clay rectangles to the base with a map, making about 14-17 notches. We return to our first "sausage" with a flower inside and wrap it in a "pile". How to make flowers from transparent polymer clay, we will tell you later in this article.

Making the middle for the flowers

We take the newly formed "sausage" and gently squeeze it so that the product has a diameter of 5-7 mm. Then we take a knife and cut the "sausage" into small, if possible identical circles. After that, take each piece in your hand and round it a little so that it becomes slightly convex.

Making petals for flowers

To get flowers from polymer clay, take a round mold with your own hands, roll the clay into a layer and leave a trace of the mold on it. Extend the circle with a toothpick and form slightly wavy edges. Similar petals can be made using other patterns.

We put convex centers into the resulting flower, fix several layers, make small holes for future fastenings for jewelry and put the finished flowers in the oven. We bake. The flowers are ready. All that remains is to weave them into earrings, bracelets or beads.

How to make roses from polymer clay?

If you are just getting started with clay and are not sure which one to choose, polymer clay for beginners is right for you. It is easy to make flowers from it. The main thing is to follow the instructions and our advice. Also for beginners, a special clay designed for ceramic floristry is suitable. It is easy to make petals from it, which, due to the special quality of the material, turn out to be more realistic and thin. So how do you make roses from polymer clay?

The following components will be useful to you for work:

  • clay (Fimo will do);
  • any hand cream;
  • small scissors;
  • toothpick.

Take the cream and lubricate your hands. Next, you should take the clay. Roll a small circle out of it and pull it out into a rounded "drop". This will be the future center for a polymer clay rose. It is around her that the petals will be attached. Tear off the next piece and make a circle out of it. Then press it down with your fingers. Let it get flat. Roll it with your fingers until it is not too thin "pancake", put our first "drop" in its middle and twist the petal with a cone.

Repeat the same operation (but without the middle) with the other petals. However, keep in mind that the first layer of petals should consist of two elements, the third of five, and the fourth of seven. Finished petals can not be glued to the end, leaving an edge for the opening effect. And also do not forget to cut off excess clay that will form during the manufacture of parts. You will end up with a beautiful rose, ready to be kilned.

Overview of Transparent Polymer Clay

If you don't have an oven or don't want to get involved with baking finished products at all, you can always make use of alternative materials. In this case, we are talking about transparent types of clay. For example, you can make flowers from polymer clay. We offer a master class on their manufacture today to you.

So, let's say a few words about transparent clay. Unlike the one we described above, the transparent one does not need heat treatment. She is able to freeze herself. It is enough to put off the finished product for 24 hours. Moreover, this type of clay is not colorless. However, in addition to color, it contains a certain "porcelain patina".

What is needed to make flowers from transparent clay?

A wonderful decoration is polymer clay flowers. A master class on making them will help you purchase beautiful beads, earrings, bracelets or rings for your personal collection. After all, the flowers you made can be used as a ready-made decoration for any costume jewelry. When you start sculpting with clear clay, prepare the following tools:

  • small scissors;
  • sharp knife or blade;
  • yellow acrylic paint;
  • toothpicks;
  • fishing line;
  • clay white and pink;
  • floristic gun.

How to make flowers from clear clay?

Take a transparent spray of white and pink clay and knead each of the pieces. Place the white (top) and pink (bottom) blanks side by side and hold them together. Then roll both clays into one "sausage". Make it a little thinner. And use a blade or knife to cut the circles. You have got two-color blanks that you need to pull out a little with your fingers, and twist their end with a cone. Then combine the three petals into one and add four more to them (below). We will talk further about how to make bouquets from polymer clay.

Take a toothpick and use it to poke a hole in the middle of the flower. Then the resulting flower is strung on top of toothpicks. After that, cut an equal amount of line of identical length, singe the pieces on one side and paint the burnt part with acrylic paint. 5-7 stamens are stuck into each flower. When all the stamens are in place, put a special decorative-type metal cap on each of the flowers. Then ears for earrings will be attached to it. At the end of the work, the product must be left to dry for a day.

How to make a bouquet of flowers from polymer clay?

In addition to single flowers, you can make bouquets from polymer clay. To do this, after you get individual flowers, you need to make a stem, leaves and connect the elements together. For greater stability of the structure, it is recommended to additionally make a vase or flower pot out of clay. Then your flowers will stand and will not fall. And the craft itself will look more impressive. It can be used as a bright interior decoration or as a gift to someone for a holiday.

In short, experiment with images, flowers and create unusual flower arrangements from polymer clay.

In the 1930s, a gorgeous material was invented in Germany for creating extraordinary products - polymer clay. At first, dolls were made with the help of it, but in the 60s it rapidly gained popularity, after which they began to use clay to create various sculptures and compositions.

Now from this material they create original jewelry, souvenirs, flowers. Wedding bouquets are excellently obtained from polymer clay, so clay has become an indispensable material for wedding celebrations.

You, too, can learn how to make chic crafts from this wonderful material. In order to create your first masterpiece, it will be enough for you to familiarize yourself with the material below.

Polymer clay modeling tools

  • Surface for work. You can take a flat and perfectly level board made of glass or plastic, tiles or ceramics.
  • Knife. Suitable for both office and construction. Have spare blades on hand.
  • Rolling pin made of acrylic - very convenient when rolling out clay.
  • A syringe and various attachments with which you can make a variety of stripes, floral elements.

Useful tips for working with clay

    Wash your hands well first, as clay absorbs various impurities well. Keep the work area also clean. Gather your hair or put a scarf on your head. Apply talcum powder to the clay - this way you prevent debris from sticking to it. Calculate the amount of clay correctly, because colored clay has a short storage line. When the clay dries out, do not lose heart, but simply add a regular cream to the material for hands, but not a lot. Be careful with clay products - they are quite fragile. Save the packaging with the material only when closed. To make the clay serve you for a long time, put a damp cloth there.
Polymer clay at home

If you do not have the opportunity to purchase ready-made clay in the store, then below is a recipe for homemade this material.

You will need: butter for children, flour (1 teaspoon), regular white glue (1 teaspoon), cornstarch (1 teaspoon).

Combine starch, glue, add flour. Stir until the mixture looks like clay. Then add five or six drops of oil to keep the clay from sticking to your hands. To make the clay colored, take a little of this material in your hand, drip a little acrylic paint and knead it in your hand.

Polymer clay flowers

For those who are just getting started with polymer clay, calla lilies are the easiest to make. This is a very simple hack and it can be done in a matter of minutes. And if you decorate the resulting flower with beads and insert a special hook into them, you get gorgeous earrings.

Take a couple of clay flowers, a toothpick, a stationery knife, rubber gloves, and beads.

From the clay pieces, make sausages, then roll them around one another. Roll the resulting product into a ball. Do these manipulations until you get a marbled color. After that, using a knife, cut the ball into two equal parts.

Make a rounded flat plate and pull out its edge a little, which you pin with your fingers. Gently roll up the opposite edge (like a paper bag).

Straighten the edges, correct. You should have a drop-down bud. Make small holes with a toothpick and insert an earring and beads into the flower.

Lily is more difficult to make than calla lilies, but the result is worth it!

Take the clay of the color you like, a bottle or rolling pin, an awl or a large needle, a knife, paints (preferably watercolor), brushes, paper clips.

Put gloves on your hands, take a piece of clay, roll it out thinly, outline the petals. Draw out the borders of the petals with a needle. You should have three large and three small petals. Small petals will be in the center of the flower.

Cut the resulting petals with a knife or scissors. Draw veins on the petals - it looks very beautiful.

Let the resulting components dry, while you yourself make the center of the flower, namely the pistil and stamens. Roll out the clay and cut into thin strips. Make a strip for the pestle wider, apply a brown color to its tip. Use a needle to twist the edges of the smaller petals. Straighten a paper clip and attach the flower to it, starting with the pistil and stamens. Next, we attach the petals symmetrically.

Roses are considered the most sought after flowers, even if they are made from polymer clay. To make this beauty, take polymer clay, put gloves on your hands.

Make a sausage from a piece of clay, cut it into pieces, from which make balls of different diameters. Nine balls will be enough if the rose is small.

Blind oval petals from balls. To do this, put a ball on the left palm, on which we press with the thumb of the right hand. Form a petal. We make the edges of the petal thinner and the base denser. We do this with all the balls. After that we collect the rose. Make the middle of the flower - roll one petal into a roll. Next, we attach the petals to the center from the smallest to the largest. Make sure that each petal covers the middle of the previous one.

The rose is done. It is perfect for decorating various accessories. Will look great as a fridge magnet.

Useful Tips

Polymer clay - a relatively new and very popular material that is very malleable and allows you to make unique products. We have already talked about what interesting flowers are obtained from polymer clay, but today I would like to talk about some more very popular products: decorations.

DIY polymer clay decoration. Polymer clay sausages

Polymer clay sausages- these are blanks for future jewelry, including beads, from which thin plate-drawings. "Sausages" also called "Canes" or "Keynes"(eng. cane).

We offer you a master class on making a very beautiful black and white sausages that can be used to create stylish and very original jewelry.

What you need:

- White and black polymer clay

- Knife or plaque with a blade

- Ruler

- Extruding press

Let's get to work:

Take two identical pieces of white and black clay and roll them into two squares 8 by 8 centimeters thickness of about 0.5 centimeters.

Place one layer on top of the other and then split them into two equal parts. Repeat this procedure. You should get something like this striped "sandwich".

Squeeze the resulting rectangle so that you get elongated round sausage.

Then use your palm to twist the sausage to get spiral... Simply pressing the sausage with your palm against the table, roll it in one direction. Do this very carefully so as not to damage the drawing.

If you cut the resulting product in half, the inside should be here's a picture:

Put the sausage inside clay press and squeeze out a thin long sausage.

In the context, it will look like this:

Slice the sausage thinly for drawing up:

As a result, you can use the drawing for a variety of original decorations:

Polymer Clay Beads

Multicolored beads that can be used to make a variety of jewelry can be made from multi-colored polymer clay. If you do not know the peculiarities of their manufacture, it seems as if the drawing on these products was applied with the help of paint, but only multi-colored clay was used.

See for yourself.

What you need:

- Self-hardening polymer clay of 5 colors (in this case, white, gray, green, brown and yellow, but any others are possible)

- Knife or metal ruler with blade

- Rolling pin and plank for clay

- Rubber gloves to avoid fingerprints

Let's get to work:

In order to get a picture in the form of a chamomile, first you need to "compose" it from clay of different colors. Take white clay and roll it into a sausage about 8 centimeters and diameter 4 centimeters.

Roll out a gray clay plate about 2 millimeters.

Wrap the gray platinum about halfway around the white cylinder, cut off excess knife or ruler.

Take green clay, roll it into a plate and also wrap the first piece on top of the gray layer... Trim the resulting sausage, remove excess on the sides.

Use a ruler to make cuts on the white part of the part as shown. First in the middle, then two more cuts on the sides, so that there is approximately equal distance.

Then insert the cut rectangular pieces of the gray plate into the cuts.

Squeeze the resulting sausage, but not too tightly so that all the parts stick together and between them. the air layer disappeared... With your hands you can shape the shape of the future petal. The photo shows a petal in the form truncated triangle... The whole sausage was stretched in length by about 30 centimeters.

The length of the sausage depends on how many petals you wish to receive. For example, for this flower, the author of the master class is going to make 9 petals, so the length was 32 centimeters, that is 3.5 centimeters one petal. Divide the sausage into 9 pieces.

Let's start making the middle of the chamomile. Take yellow clay and roll out a sausage length 5 centimeters and diameter 2 centimeters.

Roll out brown clay into a plate about 6 mm and completely wrap the yellow sausage with it.

You should get something like this chamomile:

Fill in the blank spaces between the petals pieces of green clay:

Wrap the chamomile completely rolled out green plate.

Squeeze chamomile sausage so as to release all the air between the parts.

Then you can start slicing. If you have some of the chamomile sausage, save it for future products, wrapped in film without air access. Stick a ball of clay with daisies cut from sausage, then smooth.

Several options can be made beads:

Rings from polymer clay photo

Looking at these artificial flowers, one does not get tired of being amazed - after all, they are absolutely like living things! What's the secret? How can you create such beauty? It turns out that polymer clay is capable of such miracles. But the material is not everything in order to achieve such a result. If you want to sculpt beautiful flowers from polymer clay yourself, you need to consider the following points.

Which clay works best?

There are several types of polymer clay, and not all of them are suitable for creating flowers. That is, of course, you can sculpt them out of any clay, but the effect and quality will be different. Not only flowers are made of polymer clay, but also dolls, decorative figurines, and jewelry. For each case, its own clay is best suited.

Polymer clay flowers are indistinguishable from real flowers!

To create naturalistic flowers, light self-hardening clays are used (they do not need to be baked, they harden themselves in the air). By their plastic properties, they resemble marshmallows: they stretch easily and roll thinly. The most famous self-hardening clay for creating flowers is ClayCraft Deco made in Japan. It is especially recommended for beginners in sculpting. It has cellulose in its composition - that is why the flowers from it are the lightest, matte and thin, like paper. They cannot be washed - only clean with a dry brush.

Cold porcelain (one of the types of self-hardening polymer clay) has been specially developed for making flowers. With his appearance, such a direction of creativity as ceramic floristry was formed. It is from this material that flowers are obtained so naturalistic that in the photograph you can hardly distinguish them from the real ones.

Ceramic floristry is a separate area of creativity

You can buy ready-made cold porcelain - for example, brands Modena, Modern or Fluer. Or you can prepare clay for modeling flowers yourself: it's very simple. Here is one of the recipes.
We will need:

  • corn or potato starch
  • PVA glue
  • baking soda
  • petrolatum

Starch (two tablespoons) should be rubbed with a teaspoon of petroleum jelly (it is most convenient to do this in a ceramic plate or shallow bowl). Add a good pinch of soda to the resulting mixture, mix. Now we begin to gradually introduce the glue until the "dough" becomes elastic enough, but not too thick or tight. When "busting", dilute it with glue. Knead the lump, greasing our hands with Vaseline. The porcelain is ready to use. After sculpting from it, no additional processing is required - you just need to let it dry. Finished products are coated with acrylic paints.

Ready-made self-hardening clays are available only in white, gray or terracotta colors. But baked polymer clay (plastic) has a wide range of colors. In addition, it can include sequins, metal or stone imitation fillers, translucent or fluorescent colors. Figures made from it must be baked in the oven (but by no means in the microwave!) Or simply boiled like dumplings to give them firmness. Finished products are very strong, and thin parts are flexible, easily restoring their original shape after deformation. So, for example, a petal not thicker than a millimeter, bent almost in half, will not break, but will return to its original position. A valuable quality for polymer clay jewelry. But such a result is obtained only when it is properly fired.

Baking rules for plastic

If you have chosen baked polymer clay as your sculpting material, your decision is welcome. Plastic products do not lose their shape, are not afraid of water and do not fade over time. They can be polished, varnished, covered with acrylic paints. The plastic itself is very easy to use. It is as easy to sculpt from it as from plasticine; it can be rolled out, baked and cut out with scissors or a knife for details and figures.

The only difficulty is the baking process. It is worth underexposing or overexposing - and all the work is down the drain. But if you strictly follow the instructions, and this is not a problem.

Before being sent to the oven, the figures are placed on ceramic tiles, old earthenware dishes or a metal baking sheet covered with baking paper.

For better "baking" flowers (or other products) need to be planted on toothpicks or pins and stick them into a wad of foil.

Strict adherence to the temperature regime is the main condition for the successful "baking" of thermoplastics. It is necessary to adhere to exactly the level specified by the manufacturer. In one case, it can be 110 degrees, in the other - 130.

At a temperature lower than required, flowers and other crafts made of polymer clay are fragile and very fragile, and at a higher temperature they darken and become glossy. A significant increase in temperature leads to a complete deformation of the product, it spreads and begins to emit toxic gas.

It is important not only to beautifully dazzle, but also to bake correctly!

An oven thermometer will help to monitor the observance of the correct temperature regime.

It is not scary if you keep the product in the oven a little longer than it should be at the required temperature, but if you do not hold it, it may begin to crumble over time. A timer can help you stick to the timeline.

When firing clay, take precautions: take the children out of the kitchen and open the window for airing, put all food in the refrigerator or under a plastic wrap, do not "bake" the clay with food. After firing, wash the oven thoroughly, wash your hands with soap, wipe off the clay adhering to your palms with a sponge soaped with dishwashing detergent (after that you need to throw it out). In its "raw" form, thermoplastic is not toxic, but when heated, everything changes.

How to sculpt flowers from polymer clay

In addition to the material, for making flowers from polymer clay you also need to have:

  • Latex gloves or fingertips. It is not always convenient to work in them, but fingerprints will not remain on the products, spoiling their appearance. Gloves should be your size - they fit tighter to your fingers and are less interfering with your work.

  • Knives. To cut out the petals and other parts of the flower, it is better to use a sharp clerical knife, a blade will do. They allow you to avoid deformation of the product when cutting.
  • Stacks. To trace the veins on the petals and leaves of a flower, you will need toothpicks, knitting needles or special metal stacks, which can be found in the All for Drawing stores.

  • Rolling pin. You can roll the clay with a glass bottle or a special glass rolling pin.

To sculpt beautiful flowers and flower arrangements, you do not need to have special artistic abilities, but perseverance, patience and skill are very useful.

You can start with the simplest thing - clay modeling of roses for jewelry.

You will need: pink baked polymer clay and rubber gloves.

Roll a sausage out of clay and cut it into pieces - future petals. Form petals of different sizes from them.

Form flower petals of different sizes

Twist the middle of the flower from the smallest petal, attach the rest from the smallest to the largest - attach to it in a circle.

Make a hole in the finished flower with a pin or a toothpick so that you can then attach accessories to it (a chain or a hook for an earring).

"Bake" the product in the oven, observing the temperature regime and firing time indicated by the manufacturer in the instructions on the clay packaging.

When the simplest technique is mastered, you can try to make a more realistic flower using various special devices: forms for carving petals, molds for petals and rose cups, wire for artificial flowers, green tape for stems, a stack with a round tip. Using a stack with a ball at the end, the edges of the petals are thinly rolled out, and with the help of a mold, they give them a similarity to the texture of a real rose flower. In this case, the petals are glued with PVA glue to the drop-shaped base of the bud. A five-pointed green clay flower cup, the ends of which are cut with a knife for realism, completes the beautiful picture.

If you want to learn how to sculpt flowers from polymer clay with your own hands - our master class will help you. Such beautiful, realistic sakura flowers and buds can be used for hairpins, brooches, wedding decorations. We will also make stamens for flowers.

For work you will need:

  1. Pink and white polymer clay.
  2. Stationery knife.
  3. Toothpicks.
  4. The wire is thin.

First you need to prepare polymer clay with a color change, from white to pink. We take white and pink clay, cut it.

Fold and stretch the piece of plastic until you get this transition:

We sculpt and form flower petals. We stretch our clay and cut a piece into petals 1-2 mm thick. Then with our fingers we form petals in the shape of a drop.

Then, with our fingers, form the petals in the shape of a drop. One flower needs 8 to 12 petals. We collect the product, starting from the middle.

Add sepals to the flower and bake. The flower can be made larger or smaller. Large buds are more suitable for hair adornments (hairpins and hairpins). Such products are fired on toothpicks.

Then we make a bud. All buds are molded in the same way. In order to make a sakura bud, take a wire (12-15 cm long piece), make a loop at one end and glue this loop into a piece of plastic. We form a "droplet" on the wire.

We need to make sepals for flowers and buds. Sakura, rose, cherry, sepals consist of five petals. We need a drop of green plastic. We make a sepal with a toothpick.

We string the finished green bowl on a wire and press it against the bud.

We bake our product in the oven. See baking rules.

If you are fond of making artificial flowers from polymer clay, fabric or other materials, then you probably had to purchase ready-made artificial stamens in specialized stores. You can make more beautiful stamens for flowers yourself. There are many ways to do this. We will show you how to make them using pata and how it is prepared.

The word pat in this case means a special mixture, from which it is convenient to make stamens and other decorative elements in various fields of creativity.

How to make a stalemate

To do this, you will need:

  1. PVA glue.
  2. Starch.
  3. Small capacity.
  4. Spoon.
  5. Wire, fishing line or other material for the base of the stamens.
  6. Gouache.

Pour a small amount of starch into a container and add PVA glue, mix everything thoroughly with a spoon. You should get a homogeneous mixture of the density you need. The more glue you add, the thinner it will be. To make a stamen, wind a small piece of cotton wool soaked in PVA glue on the edge of a thin wire or fishing line, and then dip it into a stamen and wind it around the wire, you should get a ball or droplet of the required size.

In this way, make the desired number of stamens and leave them to dry.

When the stamens are dry, you can paint them with gouache and, if desired, open them with varnish. You can also add gouache directly to the pat during its preparation. That is how, quickly and easily, you can make beautiful stamens. And it is possible that they will turn out even more beautiful than store ones.
