Detailed information:

The TIE Linear Fighter, developed by Seinar Fleet Systems, also referred to as the TIE Fighter, was one of the first flat-winged vehicles that served as the basis for other vehicles in the TIE family and was used throughout most of the Galactic Civil War.

The TIE Fighter is a reasonably efficient maneuverable single-seat fighter with a small spherical cockpit anchored between two huge solar-powered wings.

The car is set in motion, originally created for the car, which received the designation S.I.D. Advanced dual ion thrusters (LEDs) for high speed. The engine uses very little fuel, but provides the vehicle with unrivaled speed and agility, allowing it to outrun most Rebel fighters, with the exception of.

Also, the fighter can enter the atmosphere and develop in it a speed of up to 1200 kilometers per hour (contrary to rumors, the car does not fall apart from entering the atmosphere, especially under normal combat conditions).

Armed with only a couple of standard laser cannons, the production TIE Fighter must rely on speed and superiority to overwhelm the enemy. Since the focus is on speed, each design element is designed to reduce the weight of the machine. Therefore, heavy generators and thick armor plates were not used (like all cars of the LED family, it has a titanium alloy body and wings with solar panels from an alloy of steel and quadanium). This makes the TIE Fighter extremely vulnerable to enemy fire, but at the same time, the ship's small cockpit and high mobility make it an extremely difficult target. The bulky and life support system was also sacrificed for speed.

Nearly all sources indicate that the TIE Fighters had solar-powered hexagonal wings (making them look like the CNS in profile), however the Bacta War says they were octagonal.

A TIE Fighter pilot, considered suicidal by other Imperial pilots, is content with a meager two-day combat ration. Also, pilots are forced to dress in sealed flight suits, with a separate oxygen source and an atmospheric converter. The TIE Fighter itself has very little fuel left and requires refueling after a few hours. These restrictions make the TIE Fighter an extremely short-range vehicle. A Star Destroyer, orbiting space station, or planetary base must be located near this fighter.

The power consumption of the LED Fighter is balanced: it does not consume more than the extremely efficient generators can provide. The massive wings also convert sunlight into energy and transfer it to generators, which account for most of the fighter's mass. These generators literally girdled the entire car. Separate generators produced power, which was powered by a pair of front-mounted laser cannons.

The cockpit interior is spartan yet elegant in its simplicity. The pilot was strapped into a small gravity-compensating seat and additionally protected from overloads by a coarse repulsor anti-gravity system and emergency belts. The pilot's legs were inserted into control pedals, with the help of which speed was gained and maneuvers were performed. Located directly in front of the pilot, the helm controls the machine's laser cannons, navigation computer and guidance computer. The steering wheel can also be used to change the speed and direction of travel.

Since TIE Fighters are very sensitive to the impacts on the steering wheel and pedals, inexperienced pilots can easily lose control of the vehicle during difficult maneuvers and find themselves speeding somewhere in space. In addition, novice pilots often cannot simultaneously use the steering wheel for maneuvering and firing, but veterans, in the end, begin to control the car to the limit of its capabilities.

Contrary to popular belief, TIE Fighters were equipped with ejection seats, but the war in space dictated its own conditions: disabled pilots preferred to ram to die quickly, rather than slowly from the cold and lack of oxygen.

The TIE-Fighter did not have any landing devices and therefore could only land in specially equipped hangars.

The Imperials used TIE Fighters everywhere, putting pressure on their opponents and claiming that there would be a thousand more in the place of every downed pilot.

TIE Fighters have been found on virtually every Imperial base, from small planetary strongholds to massive space stations. they carry seventy-two of these fighters on board, and the hangars of the first Death Star held up to seven thousand of these machines.

The TIE Fighter is cheap to manufacture and maintain. During the heyday of the Empire, Sienar Fleet Systems mass-produced TIE Fighters on a staggering scale: thousands of starships a year. This makes it one of the most notable vehicles in the Empire's navy, even decades later, when the TIE Fighter was already obsolete and had to give way to newer and more expensive models.

Cadets graduating from various Imperial Academies were vigorously pursued by recruiters and eventually took up seats in the TIE Fighter's cockpit. Many of them ended up there.

Imperial tactics believed TIE Fighters consumable therefore, the missions for these machines included attacks on rebel ships, as well as raids against pirates, other enemy ships, space stations and other objects. Often assigned to escort services, TIE Fighters were ordered to defend cruisers or planetary bases from rebel forces. Their secondary task is to accompany and assist them in the attack on planetary bases. Typically, TIE Fighters are organized into squadrons of twelve vehicles. The air wing consists of six squadrons or seventy-two aircraft.

The success of the serial LED Fighter is a feat for Sienar Fleet Systems to expand the range and release various modifications of this machine to fulfill specific tasks. The most successful models include the successor to the TIE Fighter -.

But there were other projects as well. For example, the TIE Recon, which resembles a regular TIE Fighter in shape but is equipped with numerous advanced sensors and communications devices for use as a scout. It was succeeded by the more efficient TIE Scout and later TIE Vanguard. Another model, the Spotting TIE, helps to target the fire of large ships. Another modification of the TIE Fighter was an impromptu attack aircraft, which became the predecessor and even more powerful. During development, Sienar Fleet Systems designed the vehicle that Darth Vader flew during the Battle of.

Shortly before the destruction of the second Death Star, Sienar Fleet Systems presented a new vehicle -. This fighter had three solar-powered wings, numerous armaments, and a decent one. About six years after the battle, the company showed a fully automated, first series fighter that was fully computer controlled. Also, the designers of the TIE Fighter did not limit themselves to creating aircraft and built TIE-Tracked, a small tank recognizable due to its spherical cockpit, which took part in ground operations.

The New Republic made limited use of captured and equipped TIEs in sectors where TIE Fighter was not considered an Imperial symbol. The most famous operation in which TIEs were used by the New Republic was the Battle of Adumar.

By the time the peace treaty was signed, the Imperials (the Empire had become the Remnant by that time) began to export fighters manufactured by other companies (a vivid example is " Predatory bird SoroSuub Corporation), as they simply lacked the production capacity to continuously build new TIE Fighters.

The TIE Fighter is equipped with the following systems:

Navigation computer: Seinar Fleet Systems N-s6

Guidance system: Seinar Fleet Systems T-s8

Avionics: Seinar Fleet Systems F-s3.2

Solar Ionization Reactor: Seinar Fleet Systems I-a2b

Twin ion thrusters: Seinar Fleet Systems P-s4

2 shunting nozzles: Seinar Fleet Systems P-W401

2 laser cannons: Seinar Fleet Systems L-s1

The Tie Line Fighter (Tie / Ln) developed by Sienar Fleet Systems was used by the Empire throughout the Civil War. It is one of the most efficient fighters ever produced. Tie / Ln uses Twin Ion Engine. This gave the fighter his name. The engine configuration requires very little fuel but achieves tremendous speed and maneuverability.

Tie Fighter relies on its speed, which is why the design of the fighter is focused entirely on speed. For this reason, the ship lacks a protective field generator and thick armor. Tie Fighter is very vulnerable, but due to its speed and small silhouette, the ship is very difficult to hit.

In the pursuit of weight reduction, engineers sacrificed a hyperdrive and life support system. The pilot can exist on self-support for about 2 days, and the fuel is only enough for a few hours. For these reasons, the Tie Fighter is a short-range fighter dependent on a Star Destroyer or base. Tie Fighter pilots wear heavy space suits that have their own oxygen and energy reserves.

Power plant ship is designed for maximum efficiency... Generators and batteries make up the bulk of the ship. Each of the two laser cannons is powered by a separate generator.

The inside of the cab is very simple. The pilot is in a special compensating seat surrounded by a repulsor field. The pilot's feet are on the pedals with which he controls the speed and course of the ship. The helm also controls course and speed, but also contains buttons to control the lasers, navigation, and target search. Tie Fighter is very sensitive to steering wheel movements and young pilots often lose control of the ship. Also, beginners find it difficult to control and aim at the same time using only the buttons on the steering wheel. But experienced pilots can squeeze out of Tie Fighter "and everything that he is capable of.

When using Tie Fighters, the Imperial forces always rely on numerical superiority over the enemy. It is sometimes said that instead of one shot down Tie Fighter, the Empire produces a thousand. Tie Fighters can be found all over the galaxy, from a small base in the Outer Territories to the Emperor's Palace on Coruscant. A standard Star Destroyer carries 36 of these machines, the first Death Star had around 7,000. To make up for the Empire's losses, Sienar Fleet Systems produced more than 1,000 Tie Fighters a year.

Tie Fighters can solve a wide range of different tasks: attacking fighters, escorting convoys, patrolling, protecting ships and bases. Tie Fighters are organized in squadrons of 12 fighters. A full squadron has 72 fighters and consists of 6 squadrons.

After the success of Tie Fighter, Sienar Fleet System continued to develop ships of the Tie series, which led to the creation of a large number of modifications and new ships.

Detailed description

Developed by the Sienar Fleet and adopted by the Empire during the Galactic Civil War, the TIE / Ln space fighter is one of the most agile and frighteningly efficient starships ever built. The TIE / Ln is powered by the Sienar's advanced Twin Ion Engine (TIE) that gave the fighter its name. This engine consumes very little fuel, but allows the TIE to achieve incredible speed and maneuverability, surpassing most of the rebel ships, with the exception of the A-wing fighters, in these parameters.

Since speed is central to the TIE fighter, every effort was made to reduce its mass during its development. In particular, they abandoned the use of bulky generators of protective fields and powerful armor. This makes TIE fighters very vulnerable. However, due to their small size and extreme mobility, they are very difficult to get into.

Continuing to facilitate TIE, the developers removed the hyperdrive and life support system from the project. The fighter has a very meager supply of food, water and air, which is sufficient for no more than 2 days, fuel is also quite limited quantity... During battle, TIEs must refill every few hours. Because of these restrictions, TIE fighters have a short range and are permanently tied to a base - a Star Destroyer, an orbiting space station, or a hangar on the planet's surface. In addition, TIE pilots (other Imperials consider them suicides) are forced to wear a sealed suit with an oxygen supply and an air processing system.

The TIE fighter jet's power generation and consumption processes have also been perfected in terms of efficiency. The wings of the ship absorb solar radiation and transmit power to powerful generators that make up most of the fighter's mass, as well as numerous batteries installed throughout the starship. Two synchronized forward-firing laser cannons are powered by separate generators located at the bottom of the cockpit.

The cockpit interior is elegantly minimalist. The pilot is strapped to a shock absorber seat, in case of a collision, he is protected by an anti-gravity field and seat belts. His feet are on pedals that allow him to change the airspeed and turn. In the very center of the control panel there is a trigger that controls the laser cannons, the targeting computer and the navigation computer. It also allows you to adjust the speed or direction of travel. TIE fighters are extremely sensitive to pilot actions. Inexperienced pilots can easily lose control while completing complex shapes and fly far into space. In addition, it is often difficult for beginners to maneuver and fire at the same time using a single trigger, although seasoned TIE pilots know how to squeeze the best out of a fighter.

The empire counted on the numerical superiority of the TIE fighters over the enemy. It was said that in place of every downed TIE, a thousand new ones would rise. TIE fighters were present on almost every Imperial base, from small planetary to huge space stations. Star Destroyers were manned by seventy-two TIEs, and seven thousand of these starships were based on the first Death Star. Another variant was the TIE / rc, which differed from the TIE fighter by more advanced sensors and communication devices for use in reconnaissance; this model was followed by the TIE scout and finally the TIE vanguard. Another model, the TIE / fc, coordinated firing and artillery guidance systems on large ships, and the TIE / gt was an intermediate version of the planetary assault ship, which later evolved into the TIE bomber and the even more powerful Scimitar assault bomber. While developing the TIE interceptor, Sienar engineers created the TIE Advanced x1 Prototype that Darth Vader flew at the Battle of Yavin.

Shortly before the destruction of the second Death Star, Sienar presented a brand new model - the TIE Defender. This fighter had three solar-powered wings, numerous armaments, and a full-fledged hyperdrive. About six years after the Battle of Endor, the company released the fully automated TIE / D, the first fighter to be fully droid controlled. The TIE developers even produced ground combat vehicles, most notably the TIE crawler, a small tank with a typical TIE cockpit.

Behind the scenes

Like most starships in the Star Wars trilogy, TIE fighters appear on-screen thanks to detailed models captured against a blue background. The TIE models made for A New Hope were 43cm tall, while those that appear in The Empire Strikes Back are slightly larger at 48cm.

Early TIE fighters had much thinner connections between the wings and the cockpit. However, because of this, when the models were hung from the poles, the wings began to vibrate. The vibrations only disappeared when the connections were strengthened.

Models with a blue tint were made for "Empire", but during filming they were lost against the background of a blue screen, and the fighters were repainted completely black.

For the numerous explosions of TIE fighters, special models were made. For example, in The Empire Strikes Back, a TIE fighter, in pursuit of the Millennium Falcon, hits an asteroid and goes into a tailspin. To simulate this, a TIE was made with a broken wing. Then the model was twisted around the axis on which it was held.

When creating a special edition of the trilogy Special attention was given to TIE fighters. In particular, the initially gusty movements of fighters were leveled at ILM, making their flight smoother. TIE laser shots have also been updated.

TIE / TIE are a series of starships that have been in service with the Galactic Empire since its inception, as well as the First Order. "Sidki" are some of the most familiar and famous spaceships Distant, Distant Galaxy.

The name comes from "Twin Ion Engine" or "Twin Ion Engine", which directly indicates the peculiarities of their technical structure.

We are familiar with such models as the Fighter, Interceptor, Bomber, or, for example, the Defender. However, there were a great many different varieties produced during different periods of the Rebellion, as well as the beginning of the New Republic.

Today we will try to tell you about all the significant models of the Tai series, but we will only touch on the Old Canon. There is a lot of material, so it will be interesting! : smiley:

TIE-Fighter

Fighters formed the backbone of the Imperial Navy, so they were produced in unprecedentedly huge quantities. Fast, agile, cheap to manufacture - in short, perfect air force.

However, due to the massive nature, it was necessary to simplify their design as much as possible: there was no hyperdrive and even a small shield generator. Among the rebels, there was a belief that flying such fighters was suicidal, which to some extent was true.

TIE Advanced x1 / LED Superior x1

This model was used personally by Darth Vader during space battles or near-combat flights. It had a hyperdrive, decent shields, and its design features were used to produce future models. Unfortunately, this fighter did not receive mass character or significant modifications.

TIE-Bomber / TIE Bomber

The main feature of the "bomber" is the side compartment to the left of the cockpit. It could contain rockets, proton bombs, mines, thermal detonators, or propaganda brochures.

There were no shields, as well as a hyperdrive, but this was often compensated by good side skin. Due to its bulkiness, a powerful engine was installed on it, but even this did not bring it closer to the speed of a "fighter".

There was a reinforced version containing an additional bomb compartment, as well as a civilian modification - the bombs were replaced by a spacious cabin for cargo and passengers. In the Empire, there was a model that housed infantry (TIE Boarding Shuttle) in the compartments. Such ships were used to deliver troops or board other ships.

TIE-Interceptor / TIE-Interceptor

A more powerful version of the Fighter, distinguished by its immense combat power, the presence of a hyperdrive and a shield. The engine was also boosted, allowing only experienced Imperials above average to become pilots.

Their production had a good impact on the military success of the Empire, so by the time of the Battle of Endor, the Interceptors made up 20% of the entire light fleet.

So here we are, we went through all the kinds of "seeders" that appeared in the movies. Following the release of Return of the Jedi, a huge number of games, comics, board games and novels came out. In them, the "tie" line was expanded, and very seriously.

TIE-Agressor / LED-Aggressor

At its core, an assembly of a Fighter and a Bomber. The main feature is the cannon at the stern, which allows you to fend off pursuit.

TIE-Avenger

Improved copy of the Interceptor. Excellent shields, weapons and speed allow us to say that the Empire began to worry a lot about the reliability, and less about the cost, of its combat units.

TIE-Defender / LED-Defender

One of the most advanced "seed" in history. The magnificent equipment, coupled with the weapons, went against the cost of the ship, which was far from cheap. Almost veterans of the Imperial Navy, who survived at least 20 flights on the Interceptor, were taken as pilots.

In the New Canon, by the way, Grand Admiral Thrawn personally oversaw the development of the Defenders.

TIE Drone / LED Drone

Used by a clone of Palpatine in the Dark Empire comics. There was no room for a pilot, and at the same time it had high strength.

TIE-Hunter / TIE Hunter

An LED specially designed for X-wing battles. It's funny to know that the wing-open-close function was completely copied from the rebel fighter. He possessed hyper and shields, and the Imperial commandos acted as pilots, i.e. the real elite of the armed forces.

TIE-Punishers

Also known as TIE-Counter or Progressive TIE Bomber

It was one of the best fighter models, renowned for its effectiveness in combat.

Why do you need two weapon mounts when you can use four?

The Punishers have shields, but they do not have a hyperdrive, which is their main vulnerable point in battle. These TIEs are usually armed with proton torpedoes, proton bombs, plasma torpedoes, swept torpedoes, as well as homing missiles, cluster bombs, or ion bombs.

TIE-Light Duty / LED-Light type

Also known as LED-Low Power

It was usually a stripped-down copy of an ordinary LED. Maybe that's why during the space battles he was useless. It was ineffective in combat, but it quickly found other uses. Training apparatus! Young pilots learned to drive and shoot on "Malomoshniy".

TIE-Opressor / LED-Oppressor

This fighter-attack aircraft was the "Empire's response" to the rebel-built Y-wing starfighter and acted as a light bomber. They are well protected and armed to the teeth, but they do not have a hyperdrive. The Oppressors took part in the Battle of Yavin, where almost all of them were killed by the rebel forces.

TIE-Phantom / TIE-Phantom

It was equipped with deflector shields, a hyperdrive, but most importantly, a stigium cloaking device. It was used in combat for a very fleeting period because the Ghost factory was destroyed by the Rebel Alliance before the production of these fighters was discontinued.

These fighters can evade sensors and scanners, becoming invisible, which was previously impossible for ships of this size.

Each "Ghost" was additionally equipped with a self-destruct system. This was done in order to prevent invisibility technology from falling into the hands of enemies.

The TIE / RC was similar to the TIE / FC in that it was built to carry out reconnaissance missions.

Weapons and shields were "sacrificed" in order to provide special sensors capable of reading any enemy information outside of the main ships' scanning area. Thus, RC could read necessary information and go unnoticed. Nice thing, hmm.

The TIE / rc did not have a hyperdrive, so it was only suitable for use at short distances, within 1 system.

TIE-Vanguard / SID-Vanguard

Updated TIE / RC model. It was equipped with powerful shields, capable of withstanding several volleys of a laser cannon. The Vanguard is a more specialized ship than the RC, not for combat, but for collecting data. Also, it is worth noting that the "Avangard" had its own modified design, which made it unlike its counterparts.

TIE-Sentinel / LED-Sentinel

The Sentinel LED is very similar to the Aggressor LED, it has the same design and the same cannon at the stern, but the Sentinel has one feature - homing turrets are located in front and behind it, which gives this piece of iron a lucky advantage - you can simultaneously fight off enemies, both in front and behind.

The wing panels of the ship were of a very unusual shape - narrow and pressed against the hull, they reduced the silhouette of the ship and reduced its vulnerability.

TIE-Scout / LED Scout

Another TIE built for reconnaissance. Its main merit and the pride of this fighter was the hyperdrive - no other TIE has a better hyperdrive than the Scout. The power and endurance of the hyperdrive allowed it to carry out missions without the help of the main ship.

TIE-Skimitar / LED-Curve Saber

The Curve Saber LED Bomber was not based on LED technology, instead using a different design. Its cockpit doubled with a massive escape pod through which pilots could escape the fighter in an emergency.

The hull is made in the form of one elongated armored module, with the cockpit extended forward and protruding beyond the wing panels, thereby providing the crew with excellent visibility.

TIE-Predator / TIE-Predator

The majestic and powerful Predator-class fighters were in widespread use 130 years after the Battle of Yavin.

This TIE is very maneuverable and fast, its wings can be moved in different positions, which certainly makes it more convenient to operate. The Predators are equipped with deflector shields and a hyperdrive.

Nitralizer Bomb

The neutralizer bombers were developed using the TIE Predator design and were used during the Sith Empire and the Fell Empire.

The neutralizers were sent to deliver airstrikes anywhere. For example, during the Great Hyperspace War, the Sith Empire's neutralizers destroyed an entire city in the Outer Rim.

TIE-Raptor / LED Vulture

It was developed by Imperial Warlord Zinj in the years following the Battle of Endor. He has very weak shields, but it is difficult to hit him. Found in the First Order Navy.

Let's talk about the Experimental Projects of the Galactic Empire.

Even during the reign of Emperor Palpatine, the Imperials planned to create new TIEs. For this reason, under the leadership of Grand Admiral Demetrius Zaarin, research project, during which new TIE fighters, created with the latest technology, were created and tested.

TIE-Bizarro / Sid-Bizzaro

Codename - M1

Was one of the experimental projects developed by the Galactic Empire.

The M1 consisted of a single wing connected to a pair of standard TIE series cockpits containing controls, weapons and engines.

The right cockpit has been modified to accommodate a heavy laser cannon.

Like all experimental models, the Bizzaro was controlled remotely.

TIE-Biggun / TIE-Biggun

Codename - M2

The standard mounted cannons aft of the fighter were removed, but Imperial engineers fitted the M2 with two huge turbo-laser mounts, which were located on both wings.

The Big Gun is one of the heaviest sidoks. Despite the good armament, the M2 is not maneuverable at all, but rather the opposite - clumsy and slow due to its massive weight.

TIE-Warhead / TIE-Rocket

Codename - M3

The originality of the design of this "sidka" was that large laser weapons for warheads were located next to the wings. The M3 belongs to the category of weapons of mass destruction and can very well pulverize a dreadnought.

There were no sequels in the Trilogy.

TIE-Bomb / TIE-Bomb

The codename is M4.

In fact, he was not a fighter.

Instead, it was a guided missile of enormous power, designed to destroy battleships, dreadnoughts and space stations.

TIE-Booster / LED-Instigator

Codename - M5

This is a standard LED with only one difference - it has an ion booster next to the engine for additional speed.

And finally, I would like to talk about very little-known fighters that appear sporadically only in comics and computer games. And opens our list ...

TIE-Crawler / Crawler LED

Its design resembles other TIE variants, but unlike the others, it was a light tank used for ground attack.

TIE-Mauler / LED-Mauler

The Tormentor is another ground assault tank. It was much faster and much better armed than the Tracked TIE.

TIE- Underwater Boat / LED Submarine

Mentioned in several comics of the era " Old republic"And" Rise of the Empire ". Used for underwater operations.

Perhaps this is all that we managed to find. We tried very hard and will be very grateful if you support us with your like or comment.
