Where is the best place to work as a freelancer? Where to look for clients (except exchanges)? List of the best sites for remote work

Hello dear readers and guests.

For those who have not yet worked with exchanges and do not know where to start, I advise you to read my previous article, in which I talk in more detail about .

Sites for 1C-specialists and programmers

I found not so many specialized sites for IT-specialists and programmers. Further, when we consider these professions in more detail, I will give many more examples of various forums and portals where you can find a good remote work programmers.

  • 1clancer.ru is an exchange for programmers and 1C specialists from all CIS countries.
  • devhuman.com is a service for IT professionals, programmers, startups and other professionals that allows you to quickly create a team for your project.
  • modber.ru is another site for 1C professionals.

It would seem that so much has already been written on this topic, so many webinars are devoted to this issue, but all the same, beginners and not only sometimes ask it in specialized communities.

This question can have several shades:

Where to look for NORMAL customers?

Where to look for clients who will pay generously?

After all, it is precisely these that every freelancer dreams of finding: so that they do not endure the brain with endless edits, and pay for the work at its true worth.

But sometimes I'm too lazy to think for myself. Sometimes you just want someone more experienced to take your hand, lead you where you need to and say - this is where to hunt.

Today I’ll be just such “more experienced” (I’ve been freelancing for more than 7 years, I think it’s already possible :)), and I’ll tell you where you can look for such customers.

Why not stock exchanges?

Yes, every second one will send you to freelance exchanges. These are the most suitable sites for those who are starting, who want to find a job for the first time. There are many one-time, small orders, and if you do not consider freelancing as a source of serious income, or are just taking the first steps, this is exactly what you need.

Yes, there are decent projects on the exchanges, with good pay, with normal clients. But, unfortunately, there are very few of them, especially when it comes to content exchanges. And if you are looking for serious, long-term orders with good pay - you are not here.

There are many cheap, poorly paid jobs on the stock exchange;

There are a lot of outbids on the exchanges, intermediaries who use freelancers almost like galley slaves;

To start making decent money, you need to earn a rating - and this is not done in a month or even a year.

The exchanges also have pluses: a safe transaction, arbitration, and even those very orders are a dime a dozen ... if it’s very hot, and you urgently need to earn a few rubles, then welcome.

But if you want to reach a new level of income, earn respect and some kind of authority, for which they will be willing to pay, you are not here.

So where to look?

Pay attention to the following methods. Almost all have been tested. I have not worked at the stock exchange for many years, and I do not need a job.

I miss the option of launching my own site and promoting it. This requires already certain knowledge, time and money. Especially if you want to pour a little context. The site needs to be dealt with, and a freelancer often remains a shoemaker without boots, because there is just no time (and if there is, it is better to spend it on more useful and interesting things).

Consider simpler options that do not require you to invest money.

job search websites

For some reason, rarely do freelancers think of going the most obvious way: go to job search sites like HeadHunter. Guys, they are not only looking for full-time workers here, not only office workers. Use the site search, filter the vacancies you are looking for remote employee- and you will be very surprised how many remote workers and freelancers are needed here. Works - the field is not plowed.

Here is the proof. In Ukraine, I immediately found 27 fresh vacancies:

And the pay here is an order of magnitude higher than on the stock exchange, and employers are aimed at long-term cooperation.

Yes, outbids and intermediaries, as well as companies that are not averse to cashing in on your cheap labor, have also gathered here. I was convinced of this myself, looking through the vacancies of a copywriter - and here you can often find vacancies with a “decent pay” of 15 rubles per 1000 characters. Basically, these are all sorts of content agencies. Weed out such vacancies, that's all. There are still more good ones.

Be sure to leave your resume on one or two sites, view and respond to vacancies. Sooner or later you will find a decent job.

I had to look for new projects this way. I found a job in half a day.

Social network

Another obvious option, and a lot of people use it, but use it a little crazy. There are several ways to find a job on social media:

Join communities where projects for freelancers are published. For example, something like this https://vk.com/garantfreelance. Browse the feed and look for a suitable task. Projects, as well as on exchanges, are very different, and with different pay.

Join communities in which entrepreneurs hang out, participate in discussions, advertising themselves in this way. Only not directly, but giving recommendations and advice. In this way, you create an aura of expertise around you, and you can get a job. Yes, it takes a lot of time, but it's worth it.

Use the search and find vacancies, which are sometimes published directly on their wall, by keyword - the name of their profession.

Find communities of interest, which often have separate topics with vacancies. For example:

Go to the topic, look for a suitable task and contact the client ...

In the same communities, you can find separate topics with offers from freelancers. Write about yourself there, it will not be superfluous.

These are the simplest and most obvious ways. Instead of looking at cats, use social networks for the benefit of your loved one.

Yes, you can still promote yourself, create a page, rivet useful content and connect the target. But this is already a very costly way - both in terms of time and money. Start small.

Partners, your connections

Sooner or later, you will have friends and comrades who work as freelancers like you, but specialists of a different profile. Marketers, web designers, programmers. Ask them to recommend you to their clients. It’s not difficult for them, and you have additional work, and even on the recommendation.

Moreover, in this case you are not a competitor to your friends - your areas of work and responsibility are completely different. If a friend is good, then you can talk about your predicament, maybe he will just have an interesting offer for you.

Guest postings

This is not a direct job search, this is a job for the future. These are the first steps to building your personal brand.

Write useful articles, give advice to business owners and junior colleagues. Post these posts in groups in in social networks, where there are many entrepreneurs. That is, your potential customers. If you show your expertise, then sooner or later you will be asked for help and may be offered a job. Especially if your articles hit the mark.

And you don’t need to think that you will have to write about complex things. No, you need to write simply and about the simplest - believe me, many entrepreneurs do not understand anything about your work.

In exactly the same way, you can make guest articles on other sites where there is a suitable audience. For example, a marketer, web designer, copywriter can try to publish on the Texterra blog, on Cossa and similar sites. A good publication is sure to draw attention to your person.

As you can see, ways to find good customer many. You just need to want to find this very client, and not sit idly by. The legs feed the wolf, and the freelancer - quick brains and a constant search for new clients.

Where can you find a person who will set up your site, work on its content and promotion, write texts, select and process pictures? At 1C-UMI you can easily do it yourself or with our help. An alternative is to hire a freelancer on a freelance exchange.

There are a lot of resources, where highly qualified specialists live, both in Runet and in the entire network. It is enough just to throw a call in the form of an ad to attract the right freelancers to work on your web project, if you already have it and created it on 1C-UMI.

Let's see how to search for a specialist on several remote job exchanges.

Looking for a freelancer on fl.ru

Before publishing a project, you need to register here. Preferably as an employer, so that later you can exchange feedback with performers. However, recently you can also post ads from a freelancer profile. There are only a couple of restrictions - you cannot create an order and you will not be able to leave a review after the work is completed.

So, you have registered on fl.ru and want to find a freelancer to work on the site. Log in with your account and click on the "Post task" button.

A form will open for you to fill out. First, we specify the name of the project. It could be something arbitrary. For example, "We need a turnkey website" or "We need a copywriter to fill the site."

After that, we write in detail about what you need to do. Let's say, “You need to fill a site created on 1C-UMI with unique texts. Ready to pay 200 rubles for 1000 characters. Write only to experienced copywriters!

Optionally, you can attach any file (TOR, layout, or whatever).

Then the specialization of the project and the budget are indicated. Be careful not to confuse specializations.

If you do not know which subcategory to choose, then leave the default on "All specialties". This will allow everyone who belongs to the main specialization "Web Development" or any other that you need to see the project.

Next, you can specify the amount of remuneration for a freelancer or check the box “By agreement” if suddenly you don’t know how much such work can cost. In this case, the contractor himself will tell you his price, and you will agree on it.

After filling in all the fields, click on the "Publish project" button.

Next, you will begin to receive applications from freelancers, you can easily read them in your project. The performers you like can be added to the list of candidates, then one of them can be selected as the performer. As for those whose offers did not suit you, they can be officially refused within the framework of the fl.ru exchange functionality.

One important nuance: the moderators of this resource are on the alert, so only one-time tasks can be published in projects. If you need a person to carry out permanent job, you must place a paid vacancy in accordance with the rules of the site.

Looking for a freelancer on freelance.ru

Unlike the exchange we discussed above, on freelance.ru the account of the contractor and the employer is combined. So to speak, 2 in 1. This is convenient, since you do not need to start two Accounts, it is enough to register once to use the platform both as an employer and as a freelancer.

To post a project or a job, use the "Post Job" button.

You can also try an alternative method through the top menu. Click on the link “Hire a freelancer” and then select one of the options: “Post a task (project)” or “Add a job”.

Either way, a page opens with a form to fill out.

First, we specify the name of the project. By analogy with the previous freelance exchange.

After that, we indicate the cost of the project and the deadline. As in the case of fl.ru, here you can check the “Negotiable” box so as not to indicate a specific budget.

Now you need to select payment options. There are currently 4 options available:

  1. Without prepayment.
  2. Possible prepayment.
  3. Safe transaction.
  4. The conclusion of the contract.

Next, one important point that allows you to open access to the project to all freelancers or restrict it to those who have not purchased a business account. We recommend unchecking this function, as among those who have not purchased payable service, there are also many worthy specialists ready to take on your project.

Just below you need to write in detail what you need to do as a freelancer. Describe the project itself, as well as the mandatory requirements. For example, "Send texts only to Microsoft Word with 100% uniqueness according to TEXT.ru” or “The site should have a pop-up application form and a cost calculator”.

Even lower it is possible to add up to 5 files, each of which should weigh no more than 5 MB.

After that, the time of the publication of the project is indicated. You can choose from one week to a month.

Then you need to check the box for familiarization and agreement with the rules and click on the "Post" button.

Freelance offers will start coming in soon. You will be able to communicate with them within the framework of the project, choose a contractor and start cooperation with him.

Posting a job is done in a similar way. Only the payment option is not indicated, but instead of a description of the task and requirements for the results of the work, it is necessary to indicate the scope of duties of the performer and the requirements for the candidate.

How else can you find a freelancer

As an alternative, you can try to look for a specialist to work on the site in the freelance directory. Many exchanges have special filters that allow you to select criteria for specialization, employment, reviews, etc.

fl.ru has the most advanced filter. Here you can select freelancers according to many criteria.

As for freelance.ru, the filter is more modest here. But even with such a tool, you can easily find a contractor for your project.

As you can see, finding a freelancer to work on the site is not a problem! Follow our guide and you'll be fine!

People, choosing a product or service, in 55% of cases will turn to family members for information, in 54% - to friends, and the same number - to read reviews on the Internet. And 78% of respondents surveyed by Sprout Social said they would recommend a product or service to family and friends if they were satisfied with the quality. Therefore, ask friends, acquaintances or clients (if you used to work in the office) if they have people in mind who would need your services.

This advice is especially relevant for beginner freelancers: it is better to “practice” on more or less loyal people who will not leave bad reviews if they are not satisfied with the result.

"Pump" profile in social networks

If you like to post pictures with cats and memes, you will have your own approach to maintaining social networks. Alas, cats will not help you find new customers.

Indicate what you do, open contacts and the ability to send you messages. Potential client, when visiting your page, he must understand that he can order a service from you.

Write a post about what you do and ask your friends for reposts. Promise a pleasant (but preferably non-monetary) bonus for the client you bring.

Publish more professional information - this way you will create an image of an expert and increase recognition, and therefore add additional value to your services.

What else can be done:

  • create content for professional sites and communities;
  • devote 10-20 minutes a day to expert commentary - answer public questions from the target audience;
  • hold thematic webinars or live broadcasts.

Attract paid traffic to your resources - this way you will accelerate their growth.

If you have a website, do SEO optimization, use meta tags. Articles that rank well in the search results will bring organic traffic to the site. It is also useful to publish news from your field.

Register on the freelance exchange

It is better to register on several exchanges at once. Be prepared for high competition and the fact that sometimes you will have to pay a price for your services (so that the order is not “outbid”).

There are indeed many customers on the exchanges. And although there are also many performers, there are often not enough competent specialists who fulfill the agreed conditions, do the work efficiently, are responsible for mistakes and correct them.

If you approach your work conscientiously and responsibly, you can find a regular customer on the stock exchange and work with him for several years.
