Coal deposits in the Yenisei (now Krasnoyarsk) Territory were known in the first half of the 18th century, but their practical development began only a few centuries later. The "combustible stone" from the Kansk-Achinsky basin was first used for industrial purposes in 1905. In 1939-1954, after the discovery of thick layers in the Borodino, Nazarovo, Aban, Itat, Partizansky area, the basin turned into a major base of the country's coal industry ... After the discovery of the Berezovskoye field with industrial reserves of more than 5.9 billion tons, the region became one of the main suppliers of fuel for the developing heavy industry and energy. Borodinsky and Berezovsky open-pit mines were the largest in the USSR.

The enterprises in the Krasnoyarsk Territory entered the sphere of interests of SUEK in 2002. Krasnoyarsk enterprises provide more than one third of the total production of SUEK.

The enterprises of SUEK in the Krasnoyarsk Territory employ about 6,000 people.

Transbaikal region

The references to the industrial development of coal deposits in the Trans-Baikal Territory date back to the beginning of the 20th century. In 1907-1915. for the development of the Chernovsky mines (15 km from the city of Chita) various merchants and private partnerships undertook. One of the first to develop the Chernovsky copies was the Irkutsk merchant of the first guild Ivan Efimovich Zamyatin. The development of the deposit began in 1907 with the extraction of 700 tons of coal; in 1909, 72,000 tons were already mined here.

For many years the Chernovsky mines supplied Chita and the Trans-Baikal Railway with coal. In 1982, the development of the Chernovskoye field was completed and the development of the Taturovskoye field began, which is currently being developed by the Vostochny open-pit mine.

Currently, the Trans-Baikal enterprises of OJSC SUEK produce about 4 million tons of coal per year. More than 1,300 people work for them.

Industrial Safety

The development of the company from the first days of its creation was based on the principle of carrying out activities based on the observance of the highest level of labor protection and industrial safety. Our task is to continue to improve our work in this direction - both in technical and technological direction(including through an innovative approach), and in the field of professional development, discipline and responsibility of employees.

The strategic goals of SUEK in the field of labor protection and industrial safety are:

bringing the level of labor protection and industrial safety of hazardous production facilities to the level of the best international standards;

creation of conditions for the sustainable functioning of the company through compensation for unplanned losses through insurance of hazardous production facilities;

development of measures to prevent injuries, accidents and incidents and their timely localization and elimination;

reduction, and in the long term and minimization of costs caused by accidents, incidents and accidents and occupational diseases.

Industrial safety issues are an integral part of the company's technical policy. SUEK has identified key areas of action for the long term to increase the level of emergency resilience and industrial safety and ensure its compliance with the international level.

Among the projects under the special control of the company are the provision of emergency resistance and technical re-equipment, organizational and technical measures to improve working conditions, sanitary, household and health-improving measures. Work in these areas is carried out in accordance with " Comprehensive plans on labor protection, industrial and environmental safety ”, which are developed annually for each SUEK enterprise.

Among the current SUEK projects in the field of labor protection and industrial safety, the following can be distinguished:

Within the framework of the mechanisms of the Kyoto Protocol at the mine. CM. Kirov in the Kemerovo Region, pilot projects for the utilization of coal mine methane are being implemented

In 2007, work began on the introduction of new technologies for integrated dedusting, based on high-pressure irrigation, dust collection and dust removal, aspiration, providing mechanized methods of whitewashing, dusting mine workings and cleaning up deposited coal dust. So, at the mine. On November 7, in a tunneling face equipped with an imported DOSKO miner, a ventilation scheme for a preparatory face using a dedusting unit is being tested.

The introduction of new computerized air-gas control systems with the ability to integrate into automated operational dispatch control systems continues. At the mines of them. SM Kirov and "Kotinskaya" are carrying out pilot projects to equip mine workings with monitoring systems and warning of accidents, as well as means of searching for people caught in an accident.

In the central office of SUEK, in addition to the department of production control, industrial safety, labor and environmental protection, which carries out control and coordination functions, an upper-air safety department has also been created. Its functionality includes analytical work to improve the emergency resistance of the company's coal mining enterprises.

Energy

The long-term development strategy of SUEK sets forth the company's mission: to be a reliable supplier of electricity that improves the living conditions of future generations.

Today OJSC SUEK is one of the largest private investors in the power industry in Russia, holding strategic stakes in the following generating companies:

OJSC Kuzbassenergo,

JSC "Yenisei TGC (TGC-13)".

SUEK makes a significant contribution to ensuring the country's energy security, which implies a gradual reduction in the share of gas and an increase in coal in the fuel balance. We will actively promote the development of modern coal power generation in Russia, which will primarily be based on the widespread introduction of innovative technologies and strict adherence to industrial and environmental safety standards.

The portfolio of OJSC SUEK includes a significant number of projects for the modernization of existing and construction of new coal-fired power plants. Among the key projects in which the company participates: construction of a power plant in the Kemerovo region, operating on the basis of utilization of coal mine methane; expansion of capacity due to the commissioning of new power units at the Tom-Usinskaya GRES (OJSC Kuzbassenergo) and Krasnoyarskaya CHPP-3 (OJSC Yeniseiskaya TGK (TGK-13).

Further expansion of SUEK's activity in the power generating sector of the economy is associated with the completion of the reorganization of RAO UES of Russia and the strategic partnership with OAO Gazprom.

SUEK takes an active part in shaping the development strategy of the electric power industry, presenting its positions in expert councils at specialized bodies state power... OJSC SUEK is a member of the Siberian Energy Association and a co-founder of the non-profit partnership “Independent Energy Producers”.

Sales

SUEK is the largest coal supplier in Russia and one of the world's leading suppliers of coal. The market strategy of the company in the field of sales assumes a balance of supplies to the domestic market and to export. In the future, we intend to strengthen our positions in both directions.

The gradual liberalization of the electricity market, its orientation in favor of coal generation, the constant growth of energy consumption within the country are factors that determine the prospects for increasing supplies to the domestic market.

The rapid economic development of the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, together with the imminent launch of our own specialized coal processing terminal, open up broad prospects for the further development of our export direction in the near future. Here, for us, the tasks of paramount importance are to resolve the issues of logistical constraints and improve the quality of fuel supplied abroad.

But most importantly, regardless of the direction of supplies, be it the Russian or international market, the basic principle of SUEK is unchanged - to be a reliable supplier for our customers, ensuring uninterrupted and timely supplies, strictly fulfilling contractual obligations despite any fluctuations in the market environment.

We lay the basis for our relations with consumers in the domestic market high quality service and reliability of supplies. Our main consumers are generating companies, which account for over 50% of all SUEK's supplies. Thanks to the liberalization of the electricity market, which made it possible to sell a larger share of electricity at free prices, we will be able to further increase our sales in the future. An increase in supplies within Russia will also become possible due to the commissioning of new coal-fired generating capacities and the integration of OJSC SUEK with generating assets.

SUEK remains the largest supplier to the public utilities market. We are a key supplier in the Chita region, the Republic of Buryatia, the Khabarovsk Territory, we hold a significant share in this segment in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. In the coming years, we do not expect an increase in supplies to this sector due to the gasification of the regions. It is planned to keep them at the current level.

Recently, we have also significantly increased our own share of supplies to the market of federal programs and industrial enterprises.

OJSC SUEK carries out export supplies through a subsidiary company SUEK AG, specially created in 2004. We export coal to over 30 countries in Europe and Asia. SUEK AG offices are open in Switzerland, Poland and Taiwan.

The company is the largest exporter in Russia (international sales amounted to 28.2 million tons in 2008), we consistently maintain a 3-4% share of the total steam coal supplies in the world market. Having increased sufficient export volumes, both through new acquisitions and by increasing production at existing facilities, our next step will be a more thorough and focused work to improve the quality of coal. Thus, we will be able to meet the growing demand for high-quality products, the deficit of which is already starting to develop due to the development of the best deposits in key exporting countries, for example, Colombia and South Africa. The main steps in this direction are the launch of an enrichment plant at the Tugnuisky open-pit mine in Buryatia and the implementation of a project to build an enrichment plant at the Urgalskoye field in the Khabarovsk Territory.

The task of OJSC SUEK is to guarantee a high level of services and reliability of coal supplies to consumers. Therefore, one of the priorities of the company is the development of its own logistics facilities. In 2008, the first stage of the coal terminal was put into pilot operation in the Muchka Bay of the Vanino port in the Khabarovsk Territory. The planned processing capacity of the terminal is 12 million tons of coal. In the future, SUEK's coal terminal will become the largest in the Far East and will guarantee the reliability of supplies to one of the key markets thermal coal - the market of the countries of the Asia-Pacific region. Access to the European market is mainly due to the established long-term relationship with the Murmansk Commercial Sea Port.

Strategy

Obtaining the maximum synergetic effect from the integration of coal and energy sectors and creating a leading fuel and energy company operating on a global scale on the basis of OJSC SUEK are the key directions of the company's development strategy until 2020, approved in 2007.

In accordance with this strategy, the key characteristics of SUEK will be, in particular, the following:

The leader in the national market is a vertically integrated fuel and energy company that ensures stable long-term development in the interests of future generations.

A company that produces up to 150 million tons of coal per year and has an installed generation capacity of up to 15 GW.

In the coal business, our priorities are: the highest indicators of labor productivity; the use of advanced and environmentally friendly technologies; implemented quality and industrial safety standards. In the electric power industry - achievement of maximum efficiency indicators of power units; application of modern technological and design solutions; formation of competence, providing a professional process for managing the construction of new facilities with the involvement of the best counterparties and contractors.

A highly reliable supplier of coal and electricity, providing the highest service and quality to customers in all segments.

A company with a high level of financial stability and an investment-grade credit rating at a level closest to the sovereign rating.

A global player, leading large-scale projects together with world leaders, whose principles of activity are based on a high degree of responsibility towards society, its employees and the environment.

We hope that the implementation of the parameters of the adopted strategy will allow SUEK in the next few years to take its rightful place among the world's leading energy companies, attracting stable interest and respect from the professional and investment community.

Innovations

SUEK operates in two areas: coal mining and generation of electricity and heat. The company considers one of its key competitive advantages to strive for continuous innovation in all areas of activity.

The coordination of the management of the innovation process is carried out by working group Center for Strategic Planning. Currently, several pilot projects are undergoing practical implementation:

technology of transferring boiler houses from liquid fuel to brown coal and production of synthesis gas (now the sites for the project are being determined);

industrial production semi-coke (Berezovsky open pit, Krasnoyarsk Territory);

utilization of methane (mines named after SM Kirov, “Polysaevskaya”, named after 7 November, “Oktyabrskaya” in the Kemerovo region) and a number of others.

The objectives of SUEK's innovation strategy:

In the field of coal mining:

improving the environmental friendliness of coal mining;

reduction in production costs;

increasing labor productivity.

In the field of electricity and heat generation:

improving the environmental friendliness of the production of electrical or thermal energy;

reducing the cost of 1 kW or 1 Gcal;

increasing the efficiency of power and heat plants.

Currently, the company searches for and implements innovations in the following areas: geological exploration, equipment modernization, open pit and underground coal mining, safe operation of deposits, coal preparation, coal gasification, coal processing into liquid fuel, semi-coke production, thermobriquetting, coal generation. We invite for cooperation both international and Russian companies and organizations that own technologies in these areas.

Corporate development

Corporate development is one of the priorities of OJSC SUEK. The company pays special attention to improving the corporate structure, striving to ensure a transparent, understandable and effective management system.

2005 was the first serious stage in reforming the corporate structure of the company. Then SUEK completed the consolidation of coal (by that time already undergoing the anti-crisis recovery procedure) and energy assets on its balance sheet. In the same year, SUEK began to prepare reporting in accordance with international standards (IFRS), a code of corporate conduct was adopted, and independent directors were included in the board of directors, one of the first companies in Russia.

In the future SUEK continued to improve its corporate governance system. In 2007, in the regions of SUEK presence, work was completed to bring the management of coal assets to a single scheme: head office - regional production association (RPO) - production unit. For this purpose, such RPOs were created as OOO SUEK-Khakassia, OAO SUEK-Kuzbass, OAO SUEK-Krasnoyarsk, were reorganized in the form of a merger with OAO Primorskugol and OAO Urgalugol. RPO objectives - operational management the main mining and part of the auxiliary enterprises.

OJSC SUEK continues to continuously improve its corporate governance structure. Since one of the main tasks of the company is to achieve the maximum synergetic effect as a result of the merger of the coal and energy business, an important element in the corporate strategy was the creation of a special Integration Center at the head office of OJSC SUEK.

Management of risks

OJSC SUEK recognizes the risks that the company may face both in its daily work and in planning for future development. Our goal is to create the most effective system for their identification and elimination at all stages of the company's activities - from planning production activities to the final delivery of products to the consumer. The company realizes that accurate work on the timely prevention of any risks can become its important competitive advantage.

In SUEK, with the involvement of the world's best reputational consultants in this area, the development of an integrated risk management model has begun, which allows not only to identify a possible problem, but also to identify and qualitatively use potential opportunities for the company's development.

The development of the model began with the implementation of pilot projects to create a corporate risk management system (CRMS) at the head office and at key enterprises companies in the regions:

Republic of Buryatia: Open-pit mine Tugnuisky OJSC, Tugnuyskoe PTU LLC;

Kemerovo region: mine them. CM. Kirov (incl. Kirovskaya enrichment plant), IK Sokolovskaya (mine department Kotinskoe, mine No. 7, mine Taldinskaya-Zapadnaya - 1, mine Taldinskaya-Zapadnaya - 2);

Krasnoyarsk Territory: Borodinsky open-cast mine, Borodinsky RMZ.

The successful experience of implementing these projects is already beginning to be implemented at other enterprises of the company. Our next step will be to build a risk map for the entire SUEK. The work on these and other projects is carried out by the risk management department specially created in the company.

Our task is to make sure that both our employees and their family members have the opportunity to live, work, study, rest comfortably, and receive high-quality medical care in their home towns and villages.

Since 2003, OJSC SUEK has been concluding annual agreements on social and economic partnership with regional and some municipal administrations, ensuring the attraction of funding for a variety of social programs and events.

In 2007, the non-profit organization “Fund for Socio-Economic Support of Regions“ SUEK - REGIONS ”started its work. In partnership with local and federal authorities, public organizations, the foundation will tackle the most pressing social problems. Among the projects of the fund are attracting financing for the construction of housing and infrastructure, promoting the creation of new jobs and raising the educational level of residents of the settlements where SUEK enterprises are located. But the main idea behind the foundation of the fund was to develop and actively implement mechanisms for increasing motivation and retaining valuable highly qualified personnel at SUEK enterprises and attracting young specialists.

Five territories were selected as pilot projects for the fund: these are the cities of Kiselevsk (Kemerovo Region), Borodino (Krasnoyarsk Territory), Chernogorsk (Republic of Khakassia) and the villages of Sagan-Nur (Republic of Buryatia), Chegdomyn (Khabarovsk Territory).
